Hi everyone!

Magic
30
14 March
DC#2 (DS is 25 months, yes, still counting the months!)

Congrats to everyone who's had scans and a woop woop to Dusty for the twins!

Feeling v. "unpregnant", just run down and still nauseous, especially in the evening. For some reason, I'm still having trouble imagining there's a baby in there despite seeing it less than 3 weeks ago, and all the weird movements and flutterings going on down there.

It's a bit warm here!

DaisyBank82 · 25/08/2016 18:19

Hooray for happy scan news!
And Dusty I can't begin to imagine how excited / overwhelmed you're feeling! Excuse me if this is a stupid question but did they tell you if they are identical or not? I feel like I should know more about how that would work but I don't!
Really struggling with this muggy weather and craving ribena (light!).

Sugarbellesmum · 25/08/2016 19:03

Hi everyone,
Newbie here. I decided to stop stalking you all and join in, if that's OK?
Name, Sugar
DC2 (Dd1 is 4)
EDD 31 March(but ELCS so actually sooner), and I'm 34.

I have been suffering from loads of nausea and tiredness, such a surprise as I had none at all with dd!
Had my booking in with the midwife yesterday, was shocked to find I have high blood pressure which on top of my Bmi(36) is a bit worrying.
Congrats to the ladies expecting twins, and sympathy for all those feeling rough today.

deuscat · 25/08/2016 19:06

Hi all. Not posted in ages as I've been feeling rough. Still feeling nauseous these days with added all day heartburn. Lovely.

Exciting to hear of people's scan news. And twin news! I've still not got a date for my scan yet which is starting to annoy me now.

10+1

Cloeycat · 25/08/2016 19:11

Had my scan today and delighted to say everything was well! Also only one in there, which suits me perfect. Feel so much calmer now and excited to tell people. Called my bf earlier and she is so excited to hear the news.

Cloeycat · 25/08/2016 19:11

Sent that before I was finished. Congratulations to everyone who's had good scans over the last few days and massive congrats on the twin news!

deuscat · 25/08/2016 19:16

Also, I've had GTT in my previous pregnancy because my ethnic origin is a risk factor. I did have GD in my previous pregnancy and I didn't find GTT that bad really. I'll probably find it worse to be fasting this time round I think. I'm always starving having a toddler to look after! I'll be having GTT at 16 weeks and again at 28 if I'm clear at 16. I expect to get it again!

wornoutboots · 25/08/2016 19:18

just placemarking.. will be quiet until I know one way or the other what's happening with this pregnancy :(

NameChange30 · 25/08/2016 20:00

Sugar Hello and welcome!
Cloey Congrats on your scan! Smile
wornoutboots Do you have a scan soon? Got everything crossed for you xx

OP posts:
wornoutboots · 25/08/2016 20:43

NameChange30 it's on the 5th. and I'm slowly losing the plot here while I wait.

NameChange30 · 25/08/2016 20:45

wornoutboots Poor you, that is such a long time Sad Is there any way you might be able to beg persuade them to bring it forward? Even if it was on Fri 2, instead of Mon 5, that would make a significant difference. x

OP posts:
wornoutboots · 25/08/2016 20:59

no, because they moved my scan from the bigger hospital to the nearest one which only does scans on mondays!

obviously if anything else happens in the meantime I'll be going to the bigger one, but that's not something to hope for really

NameChange30 · 25/08/2016 21:06

No, true. Well I wish you lots of distractions to keep you going over the next 10 days xx

Tutuloves · 25/08/2016 21:09

Any way you can have a £45 reassurance scan (private) worn? Just for peace of mind before your scan? .

alphabook · 25/08/2016 21:19

Welcome Sugar. Congrats Cloey!

Lots of love worn, I can't imagine what you're going through Flowers

cyclinggirl22 · 25/08/2016 21:49

Congrats dozy and dusty good day today. I had my scan, first time I'd seen the wriggly little bean and it was great. They managed to do the measurements too after 3 attempts and I'm low risk so just waiting for the blood now. Very happy to see the heart beating and relax slightly, absolutely no symptoms for the last 12 weeks had left me worried!

Dustycorners · 25/08/2016 22:28

Happy no twins in the family on either side! If they are non-identical (probably are as they have separate sacs/placentas) then there is no genetic link to prevalence of twins, so it will just be because two eggs were released. Chances of that increase as you get older (I'm 35). I was reading an article about this just the other day, weirdly. I did ovulate really late the month we conceived, and it crossed my mind that weird ovulation could mean more than one egg being released, but obviously never seriously considered there could be twins!

Spaniel in terms of symptoms, I've been very nauseous, which I was with DS, but it's been worse this time and I've also been throwing up, which hasn't happened before. I've been on medication for the nausea/sickness for 3 weeks and still taking it. I'm also massive already, but as it's technically my third pregnancy (DS and mmc previously), and my stomach muscles are knackered and I was still carrying extra weight from DS, I thought that was why. So I guess there were some possible clues, but nothing that couldn't happen as part of a singleton pregnancy.

Daisy they can't tell for certain yet whether they are identical. They seem to have separate sacs and placentas, so they are more likely to be non-identical, but some identical twins can also be this way (depends on when the egg split, if that's what happened, as opposed to two eggs being fertilised which equals non-identical). If they are different genders it will answer the question! But if they are the same gender, the only way they can be absolutely certain is for genetic testing, or to wait and see if they look alike!

Butter I would be so pissed off if someone else blabbed the news. It's really not on. It's your news and no one else's.

Welcome Sugar!

Cycling and Cloey congrats on the scans - such lovely news!

Wornoutboots I'm so sorry that you're still waiting for answers. It must be agonising. I really hope you get some good news at the scan Flowers

Right, sorry for the epic post, but I think that's me caught up Smile. I've added myself to the spreadsheet and Super I will pm you about joining the FB group, if that's ok.

Off to bed for me.

Cloeycat · 25/08/2016 22:32

Are we supposed to take folic acid the whole way through pregnancy? I had it in my head it was just the first twelve weeks but now I'm not sure! Anyone know?

DebieS · 25/08/2016 23:52

Just place marking. I'm not sure how to do the spreadsheet thingy sorry

DebieS
31
Scan date 30th August
EDD 7th March
Second pregnancy, 1st was mc

Hope everyone is well and congrats on the recent scans. If your still waiting for your scan and your anything like me then I feel for you. This anxiety is a bitch nightmare.

DebieS · 25/08/2016 23:53

cloeycat I have the pregnacare that you take the whole way thru the pregnancy and it has folic acid in it so I assumed it was the whole time but I'm not 100% sure so please don't take my word for it.

DebieS · 26/08/2016 00:10

I managed to do the spreadsheet thing GrinGrinGrin

Although I have mine at the bottom so it's not in due date order no more sorry

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2016 05:54

Cloey my midwife said folic acid til 12 weeks then switch to a daily pregnancy multivitamin. And both she and my GP said Pregnacare are expensive for no reason, supermarket brand pregnancy multivitamins are exactly the same.

13 weeks today, can't believe it!

WelliesAndCake · 26/08/2016 07:23

Congratulations on the scans to those who've had them, and keep yourself distracted to those who haven't yet. I can't seem to download the spreadsheet on my phone or kindle but my stats are:

Age: 35
DC: 1
Scan dates: 23/8 and 17/10
EDD: 6th March
Derbyshire

Really excited to hear everyone's scan news. I'm starting to enjoy this pregnancy more now - picked up my Emma's Diary goodies from Boots and joined the Boots parent club!! Also told my boss and she was pleased (or at least pretended to be... I work in quite a specialist role and it's going to be hard to find cover). Hoping to start with the second trimester 'glow' soon Hmm

HmrTron · 26/08/2016 08:28

Morning all

What chatty bunch we are!? Took me a while to catch up. Congrats on all the lovely news...and two sets of twins here! Wow! Great news.

Getting ready for my scan and tests now. Super excited but nervous too. Get my results all at the same time.

Good luck to any other scans today
