Not at all offended over here NameChange. I had issues with anxiety a few years ago, very mild but I have moments of feeling like I'm getting at too anxious all over again. After my epic series of tearful moments I calmed right down after the scan... Then started to panic that they'd find something wrong at the 20 week scan. I've had a stern word with myself and am refusing to let myself think about it!

alphabook · 26/08/2016 14:24

Congrats Spaniel!

I also haven't consistently taken my folic acid when my nausea was bad so I also feel a bit anxious, but I suppose there's nothing I can do about it now! I did take it for about 3 years before that!

I also struggle with anxiety and I'm really anxious about something being wrong at the 20 week scan. It's the main thing putting me off having a private gender scan at 16 weeks, I'm worried they'll find something and then I'll have weeks of anxiety before the 20 week scan!

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2016 15:03

Hit the nail on the head there Alpha!

Freckles007 · 26/08/2016 15:16

Ladies you have been busy, lots of new posts in the new thread already!!
Dusty congrats on the twins!!
Everyone else, congrats on scans and wriggling beans!

I was terribly anxious until I got to 12 weeks and had all my results back....I'm going to try very hard to relax for the rest of this pregnancy..
NameChange you are right, there is nothing we can do anyway Smile.
I'm going to start pregnancy yoga next month with the Daisy Foundation, worth checking if there is a class near you, they look good
thedaisyfoundation.com/
Anyone else gone to one?

Tutuloves · 26/08/2016 15:16

I always think if the baby has made is this far (past the 12 week mark) then it's definitely fighting to stay. I imagine most of my folic acid was gone when I threw up so much anyway.
On a different note, is anyone finding out whether baby is a boy or girl? Or are some aiming for surprises? I've found out both times, I like the idea of a surprise but the temptation to know engulfs me everytime. I personally found that I could bond better once I found out and it was still an exciting time when baby was born as its still exciting to see what they look like. It's weird because even in my best imagination the baby was only a 2D character to me, it's an amazing moment when they are born and you say "hello you, oh so that's what you look like, and sound like, I didn't imagine you because your so much better than any baby I could ever imagine".

NameChange30 · 26/08/2016 15:27

Thanks Super and Freckles Smile

Freckles I looked up the Daisy Foundation but there are no groups near me unfortunately. I have found a pregnancy yoga class though, which I plan to start very soon - can't wait! I've been feeling a bit down tbh (exhaustion and lack of exercise can't have helped) and I know yoga will do me good.

Tutu Yes DH and I definitely want to find out if it's a boy or girl. I know it's a personal decision and of course respect people who decide to wait and see, but for us the decision was a no brainer! I think we're lucky we agree actually as I know some couples don't. We already think it's a boy because the sonographer said so at the 12 week scan - she pointed out the evidence so I'm inclined to trust her!! Grin

Freckles007 · 26/08/2016 15:28

Tutu I wouldn't mind knowing, it would be nice to be able to call it he or she instead of it!! My sister said that they never guarantee 100% it's a girl in case it's a boy hiding his bits!

HmrTron · 26/08/2016 15:52

Hey all! My scan is absolutely fine and results of bloods so low risk so we're over the moon. No indicator of a boy or girl though! Don't think we'll find out anyway.

Have completely given up on work this afternoon in favour of sharing our news with everyone! So happy:) good luck to everyone else.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 26/08/2016 16:02

Not finding out this time, like last time (although I was convinced it was a boy). I think this one is too, because I've started having "angry" dreams like I did with DS and I blame it on the testosterone Grin

neonrainbow · 26/08/2016 16:03

More good scan news for people that's lovely Smile

I am trying to be pragmatic about everything. If something goes wrong is nobody's fault. I've stopped my risky sport (horse riding) from about 6 weeks and am not deliberately eating anything I shouldn't and taking my vitamins like a good girl so there isn't much more I can do.

wornoutboots · 26/08/2016 16:05

I don't think a private scan would help, tbh. it's all depending whether there's enough growth from the 3 little blobs of foetal pole I saw last time.

it's a moot point anyway - I don't have £45 to spare.
(skint, and have 2 kids needing new school shoes too)

Tutuloves · 26/08/2016 17:44

Boots forgive me as I've forgotten people's story's it's hard to keep track but do they think it could be that your not as far as long as you thought so that's why there's not much of a foetal pole? I seem do remember you mentioning something about an April due date.
Re finding out the gender it's true it is more difficult for them to tell with a girl. When I found out my daughter was a girl at the 20 week scan the sonographer said "it looks like it could be a girl but she's lying in a funny position so we can't be 100% sure" que 4 months of agony as I really wanted a girl but couldn't buy anything pink just in case (we also weren't in a financial position to get an extra scan at the time) she was a girl as it turns out.
When we had our 20 week scan with my son I actually said to the sonographer unless your 100 percent sure I don't want to know but there he was legs wide apart displaying all, it was so blatant he was a boy me and the so sonographer burst out laughing and she said she'd give up her job if he wasn't 100 percent a boy!!

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2016 19:19

Has everyone who's had the 12 week scan got their date for their 20 week scan? I'm quite glad I got to pick mine, unlike the consultant appt, so me and DH can go for another coffee and cake after rather than rushing back to work!

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2016 19:21

Ooh I've just seen Daisy yours is on my birthday!

Melmam · 26/08/2016 19:56

Hi ladies, just looking for some advice really I'm due 14th march and 3 days ago I woke up with a really bad back and the pains where shooting across my sides and my pelvis I'm just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this too? I'm not sure weather it's because I gave birth for the first time 9 months ago and my muscles haven't fully got back to normal or could it be because I had the epidural or the start of something I definitely don't remember this with my last pregnancy. Any advice or shared experiences would be great. Thanks

Tutuloves · 26/08/2016 20:04

Mine is 17th October Super. I'll be 20 + 6 when's yours?

Mummymulb16 · 26/08/2016 20:33

Can I join due date is 30th March according to an early scan I had! I have struggled with taking the folic acid as had really bad HG! Hope your all well xx

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2016 21:22

14 Oct, perfect timing as I go on holiday a few days afterwards.

Furcat85 · 26/08/2016 21:39

Hi everyone,

Been lurking since thread 1 so thought it was time I popped up to say hi.

Name: Furcat85
Age: 31
DC1
EDD: March 13

I have my scan on Wed and it can't come quick enough. Just doesn't seem real although I'm already in maternity trousers at work as my stomach is huge! We haven't told anyone but I doubt there's going to be too many shocked people when we do. My tummy combined with abruptly stopping smoking and drinking has been a bit of a giveaway.

Congratulations to all those who've had 12 week scans already and hang in there for those of us still waiting!

Where do people recommend for maternity clothes? I have a few bits from asos so far but not massively impressed. The main thing I've struggled to find is fashionable tops.

Nice to finally join the conversation!

xxxxx

NameChange30 · 26/08/2016 21:39

Super My 20 week scan is the same day! Not going on holiday afterward though sadly.
