Neon the sonographer was caught off guard a bit. She said "there's one baby in there", and as I laughed and said "good" she said "oh no, there's two!" She was very apologetic about the mistake. Dh and I were just staring at the screen in disbelief. I then laughed hysterically while dh swore and went quite pale.

I honestly can't believe it. I did wonder if it could be possible as I've been so nauseous and sick, and I am massive already. Also because I had a weird late ovulation when we conceived, i did in passing early on think it would be possible I released two eggs as part of a messed up cycle... But I obviously was just idly musing and never for one second thought it could actually be twins.

Anyway, I will stop banging on about it - I'm just still in shock, I think. New EDD is 5th March, which probably means a Feb delivery, but I'm staying in this group! I will add myslef to the spreadsheet when next on the computer.

Thanks for all the congratulations Smile

Talking about GTTs upthread, I will be having one at 16 and 28 weeks but only because I had GD with DS. The fasting is not fun, but I remember last time it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Good luck to those with scans tomorrow. I hope it all goes smoothly Flowers

Newbie7077 · 25/08/2016 14:35

Unrelated to the above but has anyone used the handheld baby doppler's? I was wondering if it is difficult to actually catch the heartbeat yourself with those ( i.e. is it worth it?)

Newbie7077 · 25/08/2016 14:37

Congratulations Dusty. fantastic news!! My due date was also calculated late feb but I'm comfy here in this group now :)

Dustycorners · 25/08/2016 14:47

Newbie I've never used a home doppler. Midwives say not to as they can be difficult to use (easy to either not find the heartbeat or actually be listening to your own or the cord), and so can give false reassurance or can cause unnecessary stress. But some people love them, so I guess it depends on how you feel about these things.

Whatever you do, you should never use them past 24 weeks if you're worried about reduced movement as you always need to get that checked by a midwife.

NameChange30 · 25/08/2016 15:12

Wow, you lot are chatty today! Smile
Dozy Congrats on your scan Smile
Dusty Congrats on your twins!! Smile Smile

Who was it who's feeling exhausted and weepy and anxious? I've been there and I guess most of us have! Now I've had the scan I still feel exhausted and a bit weepy, but less anxious at least! So hang on in there x

Dusty I'm honestly so unnecessarily happy that someone else is having twins too!! When they told us dh sat there in shock and I was like .... "twins?! Ooooh SHIT!" had to apologise for my profanity. I'm also massive already... there's a woman at work who is 4 weeks ahead of me with one baby and I'm already bigger than her. We keep checking out each others bumps when we see each other Smile

neonrainbow · 25/08/2016 15:16

I'm very very tired today. Struggling massively to drag myself through work! Hope nobody checks my Internet usage at work as I've been wasting a LOT of time on the Internet.

Dozygirl · 25/08/2016 15:34

Congratulations dusty!! That must have been a shock. Yey for more twin on the thread. Very exciting

I'm still exhausted. Was hoping it would pass by now but nope. Glad the scan is out of the way though. Trying to make dd have a nap so I can have a nap too 😴😴😴

MissClarke86 · 25/08/2016 15:39

Sorry to the ladies that are shattered today. Take it easy if you can. BrewCake

A question for those that have had 12 week scans - did you FEEL pregnant in your abdomen? I keep trying to feel something down there but I'm not sure I can! I feel like by now I should be able to feel a bit of a bump or weird sensations or something, but to be honest if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't have any suspicions! If I press quite hard I think I my lower stomach feels a bit more solid to one side. It's the only thing that's really worrying me now...scan Tuesday so not long to wait, but just interested.

Carolann8584 · 25/08/2016 15:49

I feel like I have a balloon in my tummy, when I give OH a massage, he suffers from tight shoulders, he sits between my legs when he leans back it felt like he would burst the balloon if that makes sense? We have since changed position sorry if TMI.

Happygojo86 · 25/08/2016 15:49

Wow dusty are there twins in the family? Did you have any idea it could be twins?

Happygojo86 · 25/08/2016 15:52

Also, my birthday is the 1st March and when I was a kid I used to get SOOOO angry about having to wait an extra day for my birthday on leap years. I used to throw massive paddies apparently Grin

Massive congrats on the Twins news dusty. Did you have any suspicion from your pregnancy symptoms that it could be twins?

Thank you for everyone's kind words. I'm feeling a bit better. Dropped DS off for half day at nursery, made myself a cuppa and sat down to relax by... working on my 20k word dissertation which is due in 1.5 weeks.

Did I mention I was stressed? Grin

Butterpuff · 25/08/2016 16:51

Sorry to those exhausted and stressed. And sorry I'm about to have a self indulgent winge. But I just got congratulated while paying for my shopping in the high street by MIL friend. Only parents and siblings have been told as we couldn't hide it from them as I've been so sick a d mission g family stuff. We haven't had our scan yet and specifically asked them to keep it quiet. I'm being congratulated by peod I hardly know and haven't even told my Nan yet or my best friend. So annoyed with MIL for breaking our trust.

SpanielLedWeaning · 25/08/2016 16:59

Oh butterpuff that's awful. Whinge away.

Did you have any idea your MIL might not keep it a secret?

I can sympathise as my sister broke the news of DS's birth on Facebook before we did, or even before we had told all the close family properly!

alphabook · 25/08/2016 17:01

Congrats Dusty, how exciting!!

MissClarke I feel a bit bloated, but it's way too early to feel the baby moving so try not to worry.

I don't blame you Butter, I'd be really annoyed. I was a bit annoyed that my best friend told her parents as I would have wanted my grandparents etc to know first, but that's not anywhere near as bad!

alphabook · 25/08/2016 17:03

Spaniel I'm dreading that, I'll be fuming if anyone puts a birth announcement on fb before I do! I think I'll have to tell everyone individually not to put anything on before I do!

Butterpuff · 25/08/2016 17:07

She has form for speaking without thinking. Pretty much told my friend she would be my bridesmaid before I had asked her. But we did specifically ask her not to tell anyone and thought she could be trusted. I'm quite superstitious about this stuff. Wont tell until scan unless have to. No purchases for baby until 20 weeks. No baby showers. Generally don't celebrate until baby is safely arrived. Sad

Butterpuff · 25/08/2016 17:08

On the plus side no e of our friends and family are all that I to fb. I don't think we or anyone else has announced DD yet and shed 1.5!

Tutuloves · 25/08/2016 17:40

My MIL announced the birth of our son on Facebook before us I was so vexed but my husband said to let it go so I never broached it with her.

Dozygirl · 25/08/2016 17:49

Missclarke first time around I didn't get a bump or feel dd move till about 19 weeks so you've got a while before you'll feel pregnant. And even then it's just weird flutters so I don't think it really starts to feel too real till you've got a decent size bump and feeling proper kicks.

I can't feel a bump now and I'm on my second but I think sometimes I can feel flutters but it may be just because I know what I'm looking out for this time.

Happy hahaha that made me laugh having a paddy over waiting one more day 😂😂😂

NameChange30 · 25/08/2016 18:06

Tutu That would really really annoy me. My dad announced the birth of my nephew on Facebook, and although my brother and his partner are very laid back, I don't think they were particularly pleased! So I'm going to give him very strict instructions not to put a thing on Facebook before I do.

Dozygirl · 25/08/2016 18:11

OH I'd be fuming if someone announced the birth on Facebook. A lot of people now put a meme up that says no announcements etc. I've seen people write on people's walls though to say congratulations when they haven't announced it.

I was annoyed about it going round work by someone I thought I trusted but it's done now so nothing I can do. Shame your mil let it out the bag butter.
