Odd indeed. The size 20 (!) maternity chinos were too tight on me, and I am usually a size 14/16 in trousers. I do have a curvy bum and thighs, but still!

I threw a bit of a strop in New Look on Saturday (to my sister not the shop assistant!). I was absolutely knackered having spent all day walking around the boat show in southampton- it's like a big trade show but massive and exhausting, was wreaked and wanted to go home but wanted to take advantage of my sister being with me for some opinions on maternity clothes and turns out despite being a really large New Look in west quay they only do maternity online. I cried- mix of being exhausted, hormonal and not having a single female friend in this country for advise on clothing I was so miserable.

Butterpuff · 26/09/2016 13:36

Urgh, the cost of prams, car seats etc.. Luckily I think we will just use our travel system with combo sling and buggy board. Plus we have a lightweight fold up buggy suitable for DD if we are all out for the day. I'm just looking into a next size up car seat for DD though. Sooooo expensive. Especially as we want one with extended rear facing options and they are less common.

I've just told all my work mates which is great, makes it more real and as a second pregnancy at 15 weeks, I am definitely showing.

About maternity clothes. I was so cheap last time round I bought one pair of maternity jeans which I never got round to taking up (I'm not quite 5ft) and never fitted well or looked good. Some leggings and a few wrap dresses for work. Oh and a nice coat. All from EBay second hand in all I spent about £40. This time I'm showing earlier so might treat myself to some nice bits. Especially as last time I felt frumpy all Christmas in ill fitting clothes and it would be nice to have something pretty for Christmas parties.

The worst thing was that my legs swelled too much to wear my favorite boots last time. DD's birthday and babies due date are 8 days apart so I was pregnant over the same seasons.

Butterpuff · 26/09/2016 13:38

Ah sorry chloe that's rubbish. I know how frustrating I found it that nowhere actually holds maternity clothes. Debenhams had a few in my town but that was about it. And it is nice to have a hand hold from a trusted friend or relative because your already feeling a bit odd, Especially at this stage when your showing but its not a clear bump yet. I hope you find some nice things online.

LightTripper · 26/09/2016 15:16

Hello everyone. Can I join?

I'm very late as I've been very sick and generally feeling rubbish and just trying to get through one day at a time, but starting to feel a bit better now (17w) and able to think forwards a bit more.

I've hopefully added myself to the spreadsheet (seemed too easy to have worked!).

I have one DD already who is 2, and expecting a DS this time (we had the SAFE test for Downs etc. which also told us the gender). May well end up being a February baby as although my DD is 3rd March I am over 40 and also have a single umbilical artery (SUA), which are both reasons they may end up inducing early. Bit nervous about the 20 week scan given the SUA, as it can be a sign of problems, but everything else looked good at 14 weeks so trying to be positive and not obsess about it too much, given there's nothing I can do about it anyway!

I'm also really starting to show the last couple of weeks. Luckily I tend to wear dresses to work so they have been fine so far, but am going to have to break out the maternity jeans at the weekend I think (TBH it's quite nice to have the excuse as they are the comfiest jeans I ever owned ... I kept wearing them until they were literally falling off me after having DD!) I do love an elasticated waist (and now I'm past 40 I'm allowed to admit it... Grin).

Butterpuff · 26/09/2016 15:30

Welcome light I hope your 20 week scan shows that SUA is the only thing you have to worry about. The SAFE test results sound positive anyway.

I need to get onto maternity jeans, everyone says they are great but I found them really uncomfortable. I love a dress me they are so comfortable. Thick black maternity tights, dresses and boots will see me though winter I reckon.

LightTripper · 26/09/2016 16:30

Mine are H&M with the high elasticated panel waist Butterpuff. I know some people only like the elasticated panels and other people only like the ones that go under your bump, so it's very personal, but definitely worth a try if you haven't!

alphabook · 26/09/2016 17:17

Welcome Light!
I bloody love my over bump jeans, so comfy! No way am I giving them up after the baby's born!

Hmm, maybe I should give H&M another chance. Just scared the jeans will be as disastrous as the chinos!

Has anyone seen any black maternity jeans in a slim or straight leg? Everything I've found seems to be skinny or bootleg (nope and nope).

My ASOS delivery came today - got a leopard print skater dress, jersey dungarees (sounds random but they're ACE and so cool), a big t shirt, 2 over bump leggings and a pencil skirt. Also got some strap tops but they were massive so sending them back.

Parka coat, skinny chinos and a long sleeved top coming tomorrow from h&m fingers crossed!

charlybs · 26/09/2016 20:01

Namechange I think I saw some trousers like that in JoJo maman Bebe?

NameChange30 · 26/09/2016 20:04

charlybs They're all skinny or bootleg!

MissClarke86 · 26/09/2016 21:05

I only have one pair of maternity jeans and I'm not in them yet.

They're Jojo Mamam Bebe and are a size below what I normally wear....but they're massive!! I don't know if they do it to be flattering but they're too baggy to wear at the moment. I think my tummy will grow into them but even the legs are quite loose.

Cloeycat · 26/09/2016 21:08

I just did a massive new look and asos order. Hopefully this will be it now and it's baby clothes only I'm buying from now on!

charlybs · 26/09/2016 21:52

Namechange ah sorry! I've looked at so many maternity wear websites now I think I've got square eyes!

"I've looked at so many maternity wear websites now I think I've got square eyes!"
LOL, me too! 😲

Hugh
"Ooh please say it was these ones namechange cos I was super disappointed that they were sold out in my size. It'll be some comfort to know they wouldn't have fit either way"
Yes it was those! I wanted them in navy. The fit is very tight around the bum and thighs, so it might have been ok if you're slim in that area, but I'm not definitely not Sad

NameChange30 · 27/09/2016 07:51

I do have some (non-maternity) Next chinos in a size 14 that fit beautifully, so so figure...
