Got my GTT tomorrow. Currently stuffing my face before I have to strart fasting. Dreading how sick I will feel in the morning when I can't eat and need to drive to the hospital Sad

MissClarke86 · 21/09/2016 21:35

How long do you have to fast for Dusty?

Dustycorners · 21/09/2016 21:53

Min 8 hours, max 14 hours. Basically I can eat up until 1am tomorrow, and I'm tempted to stay up and do that, except I really need to go to bed Grin

Beautytobe · 21/09/2016 22:05

Fackbook please x

If you'd like to be added to the facebook group you need to pm me your email address.

Dusty I'd be setting my alarm for a 12.55am sandwich!

neonrainbow · 21/09/2016 23:20

Im not looking forward to the gtt but i don't have to do it until early december. I don't do well with not eating!

Dustycorners · 21/09/2016 23:39

I had it at 28 weeks with DS, which was fine as I didn't have nausea by then. But it's not being able to eat to help with the nausea that's scaring me!

neonrainbow · 22/09/2016 07:36

I asked midwife if it's essential and she said it would be a very good idea for me to have it. Darn it!

NameChange30 · 22/09/2016 09:37

Does anyone else have... er... itchy nipples?! Mine are driving me mad! Any tips for relieving the itching?

Dustycorners · 22/09/2016 09:41

Actually, it'a been fine. Stuffed my face until 11.30 last night (gave myself horrible heartburn), then drank lots of water this morning to feel full. Just had the first blood test and sugary drink. Not actually felt sick or faint at all and I would usually have eaten toast, cereal and a snack by now!

I downloaded last night's Bake Off to watch while i wait, but just realised that might be a poor choice given I can't eat until 11.30 Grin

Dustycorners · 22/09/2016 09:43

X-post Name! I sometimes get that but haven't found a remedy, unfortunately.

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/09/2016 10:12

Yep Namechange, I find a bit of moisturiser helps 😳

MrsMushrooms · 22/09/2016 10:34

I definitely get that - I find that putting my palms directly on them for a few mins can help - not ideal if you're out and about though!!

charlybs · 22/09/2016 11:59

Just rang the doctors and their next appointment is the 19 OCTOBER. Told them I couldn't do that and they said they're not booking any further into the future than that so to ring back... Err. Now what?

Cloeycat · 22/09/2016 12:45

Gosh that sounds strange Carly... i never book in advance and always ask for an emergency appointment on a quiet day (normally Monday when they work till 8 and always have free appointments from about 6.30 onwards as kids and elderly people tend to need daytime appointments to be seen ASAP).

charlybs · 22/09/2016 14:12

It's not really urgent - I've had (TMI) pregnancy thrush since about 5 weeks and so its just really really annoying rather than being dead serious Confused I was asked if it was urgent and couldn't really say yes lol

NameChange30 · 22/09/2016 14:14

I think minor infections are more serious in pregnancy, just tell them it's urgent or you'll never get seen!

OP posts:
Cloeycat · 22/09/2016 14:44

Yea I'd just say it's pregnancy related, I'm always really vague with the receptionists so they let me be seen! Otherwise I tend to be told to wait for a month for an appointment

Carolann8584 · 22/09/2016 15:50

Just booked my flu vaccination, having it the same afternoon as my 16wk MW appointment. Anyone had theirs?

Lozza92 · 22/09/2016 17:10

i got a letter from my GP, theyre having a "flu fun day" next saturday so you just turn up and get it no need to make an appointment

emonslemons · 22/09/2016 19:07

I don't know about the vaccine, but looks like I've got the actual flu Sad

emonslemons · 22/09/2016 19:08

taking paracetamol the kids stuff as can't stomach pills.

anything else we can take?

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/09/2016 19:49

My flu jab is booked for next weds, it's at boots but still free cos I used the maternity exemption card.

MrsMushrooms · 23/09/2016 07:53

I'm seeing my consultant today so I'll ask about the best time to get a flu jab. I'm not even going to try and get in at my GP for it because they're impossible, so I'm just gritting my teeth and paying the £13 at Boots (can't get NHS jabs at Boots in Scotland)

Zanashar · 23/09/2016 11:03

I'm won't be having a flu jab at all purely because I don't want the side effects (the general malaise which is common) and also because I'm pretty fit as a fiddle. Will be having the whooping cough vac @ 28 weeks though.
Most pharmacies in England should be offering free NHS flu jabs to all who are eligible and this does include pregnant women ( at any stage of pregnancy ). Not available in Scotland or Wales though. Not sure about NI.
Itchy boobs and belly here, all the time!
I was looking through old pregnancy pics and had forgotten how big I got Shock
