Thanks everyone. We are going to be positive, have heard some good outcome stories (thanks super) and know we are lucky at least that it has been identified so early. Its not the start we imagined or want but our little one will fight through and the first weeks in NICU will be tough as hell, but they wont be forever. Its making telling the news a bit of a mixed bag of emotions at the moment but people will get used to it and we do have the most fabulous support network. Friends and family who are close and supportive.

To keep things light hearted, on the bra front I'm still cycling the two feeding bra's which I have been wearing since DD was born 18 month ago. I long for a change. Maybe I should treat myself!

Butter that must have been a massive shock but u seem to be taking it in your stride well. Like you say better to be prepared than to have not known and not be delivering at the right place. I work in neonatal but not in the surgery side so I just look after the babies temporarily before they get transferred to a surgical hospital.

Yeah a boob or bust Facebook group vote from me. I actually have had good experience from Debenhams in the past so was aware that I wasn't a size 38 upwards like some shops (m&s and mothercare mainly) liked to say.

I remember being rally uncomfortable last pregnancy as my bump grew and I found all bras uncomfortable even non wired ones. I'm going to invest in a wahm stretchy crop top bra from someone called Billy bums when I get a bit bigger. They work for nursing too. My only problem with them is hiding them under tops as I tend to wear vest tops etc but I just want to be comfortable.

NameChange30 · 19/09/2016 18:22

Butterpuff I'm very sorry to hear about your baby's heart defect. It must have been a stressful time getting the news and having further scans and consultations. I hope you've had plenty of support from each other and from family/friends? Anyway the prognosis does sound good so that's really positive Smile

MrsMushrooms Sorry you're having trouble finding a bra to fit Sad I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid but you have my sympathy and good luck!

charlybs Yes as the exhaustion has lifted I've started to feel the need to get back into exercise! I've been for a swim twice now and it was lovely. Bumped into my Zumba instructor who suggested Aqua Zumba so I might try that too. I'll need a new swimsuit soon - which one did you get? Is it a maternity one? I need one to accommodate by big boobs as well as my bump!

On the general topic of bras, the websites are good but you really can't beat going into Bravissimo, getting advice from a trained fitter, and trying on different brands and styles. I've had bras that should fit me in theory that started really hurting and left horrible red marks after a few hours of wear. I think it's especially important to get a comfy fit in pregnancy as well.

Dozy I plan on getting a couple of billy bum bras, one to give birth in I think too

charlybs · 19/09/2016 19:22

Namechange it was a JoJo Mama one - plain black. It fits well! I have teeny boobs though so I wouldn't know if they're good for bigger or not X

NameChange30 · 19/09/2016 21:14

charlybs Thanks! I might get a Freya tankini (non-maternity) if I can't find a maternity swimsuit with decent bra support... I don't think my boobs will survive Aqua Zumba otherwise!

I definitely prefer going into shops rather than ordering online when it comes to bras. Unfortunately that means making a special trip to the nearest city to get to a bravissimo so it's not something I can do often. My latest bras are from bravissimo and they were brilliant. Also means they do all the leg work going and getting the bras for u to try on while u just wait. I told her my boob or bust estimate but she tried to go for a bigger band to start with then agreed I was the band and cup id said I was. Bras are so hard to find a decent fit though even if u do know you're size because each brand and style are completely different. I absolutely loathe bra shopping with a passion. I converted these bras into nursing bras too because all nursing bras were crap for me. I probably won't be comfortable in wires though in the early days of bf but it was fine once I was established.

neonrainbow · 19/09/2016 22:07

Sorry to hear about your baby's heart butter. GOS are brilliant from what i gather so he or she will be in great hands. My two have a chance of developing pyloric stenosis so may need an operation at a few weeks of age to correct it. I had the same op at 6 weeks old.

Carolann8584 · 20/09/2016 10:23

Feeling very self conscious, wearing new tunic with leggings today, its clingy material which makes my boobs and "bump" look huge! going home at lunch to change, don't mind showing bump when its I proper bump not just wobbly belly becoming a bump.

Sorry mini moan Smile carry on...buggies....bras...

A client commented on my pregnancy today! Didn't even ask "are you pregnant?", just said "is it your first?" Luckily I was amused and not offended Grin

I saw some people last night that I hadn't seen for a week or 2, they were all like "erm, where did that bump come from since last week?"

charlybs · 20/09/2016 16:08

Everyone's starting to notice my bump too. All my friends at the weekend gravitated to my belly to poke it haha. And a woman today asked me if it was my first too. Good way to make friends I guess? Haha

cyclinggirl22 · 20/09/2016 16:48

butter not the news anyone wants to hear but you and they are in the right hands and I hope everything works out the best it can.

If anyone is looking for a swimming costume I got the speedo maternity one, the fit is really good and so comfortable.

I told someone at work yesterday i was pregnant and she said it's funny because I looked at you last week and thought you looked...... and stopped herself so I think she was saying fat haha. I'm still trying to hide my bump under loose fitting stuff but obviously doing it badly. Don't feel I can embrace the bump as I just feel fat!

charlybs · 20/09/2016 17:09

Cycling one of my friends outright told me she thought I looked chubby haha. She's not known for her tact Grin

NameChange30 · 20/09/2016 17:17

I just felt fat at first, but now my bump's a bit bigger, I've embraced it and feel less self-conscious, funnily enough. I actually told all my colleagues yesterday that I'm pregnant, and it's helped massively because I'm no longer paranoid about them noticing the bump.

cycling Thanks for the swimsuit recommendation. If you don't mind me asking, what bra size were you when you wore it?

cyclinggirl22 · 20/09/2016 17:28

name I've only got small boobs so can't comment on how it would be for someone with big boobs. Plenty of room in there but not sure how supportive it would be!

Happygojo86 · 20/09/2016 18:02

I wore the speedo maternity one last time and I am a 34J it was ok support but just a bit of in built crop top not wires or anything like that. For some gentle swimming it was fine

ItsMagicYouKnow · 20/09/2016 18:35

Butter sorry you've had worrying news. If it's any reassurance, OH's cousin's little boy had similar complications that were only found out at birth (?). He underwent surgery ASAP, but I can't remember how long he stayed in hospital afterwards. Anyway, the long and short of it is that he's 7 now and you wouldn't know the difference between him and any other boy his age. It might have been a little less serious because I think he was checked yearly until he was 5 and then given the all-clear. Glad you've been given an action plan Flowers

NameChange30 · 20/09/2016 18:35

Thanks cycling and happy! I've decided to get a tankini instead of a one-piece, so I can wear it if I use a birthing pool (trying not to think about the birth too much yet, but there are pools at the birth centre, so I have to accept that it's a possibility! Grin)
That rules out the Speedo swimsuit unfortunately but I'm looking at some other options. I'll share the good news if I find anything suitable!
