GMM - what do you mean, finding discount codes?? This sounds like something I need to know more about!

Glitterkitty - ´What to expect when you´re breastfeeding, and what if you can´t´.. has been recommended by quite a few mumsnetters so thought I´d give it a shot.

Bramshott - sorry you´re having a bad start to the day, hope it gets better soon. I´ve still got 12 weeks to go.. I´m one of the last on here.. so that´s definitely something to be cheery about!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 12:54

Afternoon all. Quiet here again isn't it!

GMM, the pictures are truly amazing, and what a gorgeous looking fella! You will be fighting off his girlfriends!

Maveta, glad your cat came back. Honestly, what a minx!

Bramshott, sorry to hear you are knackered already. Becky was snotty/coughy again today, but fortunately no disrupted sleep. Gold star to your dh for the sea bass. Don't think my dh would know where to start with that high level of catering!!

Hi CD, hope you are enjoying your peace and quiet. How lovely that you sponsor a child.

Nothing to report here. Pretty tired as dh set his bloody alarm clock 45 minutes too early - grrrrr!

AngeG · 29/01/2007 12:59

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been on over the weekend. Once I got back from the SE Meet I went to stay at mums because Allen went away for the weekend.

Just wanted to say how lovely the meet up was. I really enjoyed seeing everyone and putting faces to names.

GMM - Your scan photos are fantastic, I'm so jealous

Glitterkitty - the book is 'What to expect when you're breastfeeding and what if you can't' by Clare Byam-Cook.

Bramshott - Sorry you've had a bad start to the week. Thinking of you and sending hugs.

Once again I can't remember anything else. Hope everyone else ok.

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 13:17

I'm back from another exciting lunch time looking at cars... which has resulted in not speaking to dp.. AGAIN.

Honestly its the same everytime.. we go to a garage, I tell him which cars I like, and then the snidey salesmen come out and start bombarding me with questions about budgets and trade ins and all that bollox... mean while dp has fucked off to the other side of the garage to look at stupid things... then has the nerve to have a go at me when I give the wrong answers to the salesmen.. RA RA RA

And relax...

Maveta, there is a website called hotukdeals or vouchercodes.com usually they have codes for things like 10% when you spend £100 or free delivery or things like that... although not possibly to mallorca.. well worth having a look mind you. The first one also gives you details of any sales that are on at that retailer. Its how we found the pram with £250 off... kiddicare also has a good sale on at the moment if anyone is interested... website is a bit of a ball ache to trawl through but some of the stuff is great.. they have free delivery of over £50 too.... although again not sure if this includes spanish islands!! Serves you right for living in a nice place like that... if you lived in scotland you wouldnt have these problems!!

Oh flump...Are you around?? How did you get on over in Bathgate?

weeonion · 29/01/2007 13:35

morning folks - where are the pics from the mmet up?????????????

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 13:37

It might be morning where you are... we've all been here for hours!!!

How was your weekend WO? Feeling any better?

CaptainDippy · 29/01/2007 13:43

That's EmmyMuumy's job weeonion - She's not been on since the Meet-Up - shirking her responsiblities ..... honestly!!

How are you feeling now Bramshott honey??

I am hiding in the study from the DD's atm - they are doing gooness knows what, goodness knows where, so I can't be too long!!

Yes - I did get some food eventually - only toast and butter though, not v.exciting - 'ere Ange, do you reckon you could get your lovely DH to come over and make me Sea Bass!!!!!?

Maveta - Sorry looking at bloomin' cars was so stressful honey - Any luck though?

Speaking of cars, I've got my driving test again tomorrow - Argh!! It's at 8.40am, which means my instructor's picking me up at 7.40am!! I am usually still throwing up at this time, so it'll be, erm, interesting ....... Pleeeeease think of me, I reeeeeeeally neeeeeed to pass!! Eeeeek!

Best go and see what the little blighters are up to.....

hotlipsmummy · 29/01/2007 13:50

Afternoon ladies. Crikey its been quiet on here for the last couple of days - well for this thread anyway

Pox is getting better slowly - DS is not ill but still infectious so can't yet go back to nursery . DH has taken a days annual leave today to be at home with DS so I can go to work. Nothing been done in my absence last week so now have a week's worth of work to catch up on! Still the morning has gone much quicker than last week!!!

We had the ILs yesterday and a v.pleasant day was had by all. They DOTE on ds so he was in his element!!! Lucky spoilt boyt is all I can say...

I got the breastfeeding book free with Junior Pregnancy mag a couple of months ago and have skimmed through it. Not really taken it in yet. I had heard of Clare Byram-Cook though as when I was having difficulty feeding DS a few of my yummy-mummy neighbours suggested her services! BTW - am soo NOT a yummy mummy as weigh about 4 stone too much and never wear make up, have hair done etc etc!

Interested in the GTT talk - I too am well over the 25BMI mark but have not been offered the test. I think it depends on where you live and hospital policy. We are having this LO at St Thomas (where we had DS) but I'm told Chelsea and Westminster do the test as routine (a friend who is tall, lean and a size 8 has had the test...)

Anyway tons to do still ..grrr. Back later!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 13:51

CD, lol at you. It was Bramshott's dh who cooked sea bass, and it was GMM who has had a crap time looking at cars!!!

You got all confused lovey!

Good luck with the driving test - are you sure it is tomorrow oh Dippy one??

nuttygirl · 29/01/2007 13:52

Hi all

Anyone wanting more info on Strep B I looked at this it tells you how to order the test. They send it out to you and you only pay (£32) when you send it back. The test is done between 35 and 37 weeks and is more reliable than the NHS test. Mine arrived the day after I ordered it.

Thanks to everyone who recommended 'that bf book' I ordered it the other day from a company called The Book Depository for £5.71 delivered. Had a quick look at it, was especially surprised to see a section about when you first bring baby home, the advice was great and I know it put my mind more at ease! I'm finding it really down to earth and full of common sense, which is just what my pg brain needs at the mo!

Had a nice weekend, a bit of shopping and a bit of cleaning the house...DH finally got round to sorting out the plinths for the kitchen cupboards (they needed to be shortened cos of the tiles we've had put down on the floor) so kitchen is now looking finished!

DH's bro is 30 next week, having a party on 10th Feb that we're going to. Bought him a book 'a bloke's guide to pregnancy' to go with the gift vouchers we're getting him. Book seems v funny so hoping he likes it. Also found a v appropriate b'day card 'it's nice to know that at 30 you can still get it on' and inside 'that's old person speak for can still get dressed'. Looking forward to seeing their scan pics which they're going to email to us on thurs. MIL told DH last night they'd already had scan and had a pic so DH rang them and they were like "err no it's not until thurs" so no idea why MIL thought they'd already had it.

Bought a few bits from Jojo maman bebe cos i got a catalogue free with a magazine. Getting a support band thingy cos I think I've pulled a muscle in my back (i twisted funny) so hoping I'll be more comfy at night with a bit more support for the bump!

nuttygirl · 29/01/2007 13:55

Oh GOOD LUCK with the driving test CD - sorry I x-posted with you!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 14:01

Nutty, thanks for the link re StrepB. I think I will get that test to be on the safe side.

I also got the JoJoMamanBebe catalogue free with a mag - lovely things in there, but the clothes are soooooo expensive don't you think?

hotlipsmummy · 29/01/2007 14:04

Agree clothes in JoJo are dear - their shop is just down the road from me and I tend to only buy stuff from there in the sale!! Also don't really like the fit of the clothes on DS but then he is a skinny bean!!

I found a great company called Snuglo the other week with really cute clothes (tops etc not basics). Can't remember the web link now but worth a google.

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 14:08

Think I will order book too.. found the book depository on amazon.. certainly a lot cheaper than most places.. and if you have got your book at least I know its not some drugs cartel in eastern russia or something!!

Quick question.. am I right to presume from the lack of chat about them that no one has had any cravings? Everyone keeps asking me but I dont think I have.. obviously there are certain foods I fancy more than others, but I'm like that when I'm not pregnant... and I have a bit of a fancy for a mint magnum most nights after my tea, but again I liked them before pregnancy... anyone actually had cravings?

nuttygirl · 29/01/2007 14:12

GMM - if you go to their own website...googlw book depository and it'll find it, then you'll get it cheaper (price includes postage £5.71, which is less than buying book via them on Amazon and paying amazon standard postage rates).

Jojo baby clothes did seem overpriced...I bought 2 feeding vests (saved £5 for buying 2 so they weren't too bad and I can wear them even when i'm not bf) also got support band and maternity knickers and used 10% discount code. Had to put it through as 2 orders tho but p&p free so not a problem.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 14:12

Geordie, I can't say I have had any cravings either. Although in the first few weeks, I ate bacon supernoodles every day, and did have to go out and buy some if I had none in the house. Nothing at this stage though.

With dd, I craved Fab ice lollies! Makes me laugh as Becky now loves them!

nuttygirl · 29/01/2007 14:16

Not really any cravings here except for wanting salt for the first couple of months. Just realised that last message sounded really jumbled. Basically The Book depository advertise on Amazon as well as having their own site. The price for the book on their own site includes postage and is £5.71 but on Amazon they advertise a price for the book and then you have to pay Amazon's standard postage rate on top, which worked out more expensive.

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 14:18

Its ok, I knew what you meant. I think whilst pregnant we all have a tendancy to mix up words and speak as we think.. but all other pregnant ladies understand the lingo so its cool!!!

maveta · 29/01/2007 14:46

Wow nuttygirl - I´ll have to remember that book site, I bought mine from blooming marvellous, just because I saw it and was ordering other stuff at the same time, but it was 2 pounds more! Huh.

maveta · 29/01/2007 14:47

GMM .- thanks for the tip re. voucher sites, it´s okay if they can´t deliver here as I can get it sent to my sisters in the UK and let them be my mules!

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 14:51

I can just see them at the airport..

"Has anyone asked you to carry anything for them?"

"well yes, my daughter asked me to bring her some breast pads, some maternity pads.. you know the nice thick ones, or and some cream for her cracked nipples. I've also got 17 baby gros, a couple of books on breast feeding and a breast pump.."

Cue man at customs passing out...

Bramshott · 29/01/2007 14:55

Thanks for all your kind words. Feeling a bit better now as a friend has spontaneously offered to have DD for the afternoon so I have an unexpectedly child-free few hours - hurray! Have also had chocolate as someone suggested. Waiting for the doctor to call me back and let me know when she would like to look at my superating toe! I had an ingrowing toenail operated on before and it wasn't nice, so I'm hoping there's another option . . .

CD - good luck with the driving test tomorrow. Hope you don't get anyone who remotely resembles the horrid bloke you had last time again. Will be thinking of you as I am taking DD to nursery. And of course, can send round my DH with his seabass .

Dunno about cravings, but I could just eat and eat (and then eat some more). Had large bowl of cereal and a slice of toast for breakfast today, then a pear and a few squares of chocolate at 11.00, and by 12.30 I was literally weak with hunger and had to stuff my cheese on toast down at speed! Going to start on the burnt fruit cake now - yum - before I have to go and pick up DD and take her to swimming (urgghh).

SOL - I love Fab lollies - always have them as my ice cream of choice and feel smug that they are about half the price of the 'adult' lollies. Used to be able to palm DD off with a mini-milk when she was younger, but now she joins me in fab land!

Have a lovely afternoon!

11weeksandcounting · 29/01/2007 15:05

Afternoon all

GMM - love the scan pics - very cute indeed

Bramshott - what are compression stockings?

No cravings here - apart from chocolate

My strepb test arrived in days too - have had a peek in envelope and the swab things look very scary!!!!! Will do at 35 weeks.

Have had busy day - friend came round for lunch, then gas man came as boiler making funny noises - part no longer made or in stock so when it eventually goes the boiler will need replacing - it is 20 years old so has done well but such a huge expense! Will hopefully keep going til summer then can get a new one for next winter.

Off to collect ds1 from school then off to friends for tea

Planning to figure out how to download pics from my new digital camera tonight - so will set up a profile and will post pic of the dress someone asked me about yonks ago!

liath · 29/01/2007 15:09

Hi everyone,

Glad the meet up went well!

GMM those photos are amazing, bet the video is just fab - it must make you all emotional.

Love love love JJMB stuff but usually only buy it in the sale or else buy stuff for dd and my sister's ds at the same time to get the £5 off if you buy 2 deals. Speaking of sister, she's STILL pregnant and the last time I spoke to her she was so fed up that she was contemplating getting her DH to put on a pair of gloves and give her a DIY stretch & sweep ! Her DH is a bloody VET and I now have a fairly unpleasant mental image of him pulling on one of those up to the armpit Jame Herriot style gloves that they use when they stick their hands up cows bottoms.....URRGGHH!

Bramshott, hope you're feeling better. Had crap night's sleep too, heartburn etc. And will keep fingers & toes crossed for your driving test tomorrow, CD. Weeonion, hope you're feeling better after that awful appointment you had. Sounds like your consultant needs to brush up on his consulting skills, the git. Do you have another scan booked?

Had a busy weekend here. It's a gorgeous day today, spent the morning at the playpark then dropped dd at nursery and did some gardening. Lovely to get out & see some bulbs coming up . Also sorted through dd's unisex baby clothes and ironed all the newborn & 0-3 month stuff which made me feel all warm & fuzzy inside, sad git that I am. Don't have much newborn stuff but dd grew out of it really fast anyway despite not being all that big at birth. One tip I'd give is to buy sleep suits without feet - takes longer to grow out of them.

Bramshott · 29/01/2007 15:22

Doctor just called and she doesn't want to see my toe [mortaly wounded emoticon needed] but is prescribing me some new stockings with open toes and referring me to a podiatrist. Thing is, that's a 6 week wait aparently, and she says they won't operate on it while I'm pregnant anyway, so let's hope the new stockings sort it out.

11 weeks - I had a DVT in my last pregnancy, so I have to wear attractive granny-style elastic stockings every day. Apart from this new toenail problem though (whispers), they are VERY comfy, and mean I haven't had any problems with swollen ankles etc, let alone anything worse
