MIABT - [hugs} to you. u sounded a bit blue there too. i think we can all be under pressure to achieve / perform as supermum. i dont have to worry about coping with another LO whilst baking this one and i am finishing work at the beginning of march. will need things to occupy myself so that is why i think i can make loads of things.

i have loads of crisis of confidence about everything now - difficult to accept from th perosn who sued to walk into rooms and feel ready for any battle. god - i burst into tears today cause the petrol cap wouldnt go in the car. u seem to more than a good job with james babe . xoxoxox

AngeG · 22/01/2007 21:04

CD I agree definitly get hinting.

MIABT - sorry meant to add try not to be too hard on yourself. I think you should just take things as they come and try not to worry before they happen...easier said than done, but you've got to try

runnyhabbit · 22/01/2007 21:06

Can't we talk

Hope I don't miss anybody out..

1b3 - glad to hear everythings sorted with N. Has your lo moved to big bed yet?

Yvie - to hear about your g'pa. Mine died over 10 yrs ago, and I know that him and ds would've got on like a house on fire.

Maveta - no advice about the cats. My 2 don't come in that often since ds has discovered their tails

Clarice - have you tried bicarbonate of soda to relieve the itching? Put a handful in some muslin (or a popsock as I did!) and let it soak in the bath with them. Really eased ds itching when he had the pox.

AngeG - at your spd. mines worse 1st thing in morning/last thing at night. have you got crutches? used mine on the weekend, just around the house for an hour, and it really made such a difference.

Liath - pmsl at servicing feeling very frustrated at the mo because it makes spd worse, and dh cannot stand the thought of me in pain. Going to have to get very inventive with positions, because I can't bare the thought of going without a "service" for months

Miabt - thinking of the twins x

I've been hinting at dh about an eternity ring since ds was born. But he suprised me when ds was 6mths old and gave me a choice - eternity ring or deposit on new car. Plus he was putting in his sports car as partex. Car won. Mind you, I should definatley get something sparkly this time round....!!

Haven't heard anything back from blood tests re itching. The itching wasn't so bad over the weekend. I'm thinking no news is good news.

Think our washing machine has died but convinced dh jinxed it he mentioned that it was making a funny noise yesterday. I told him off because it'll hear him, and won't want to work anymore. 10mins later, it stops mid spin cycle, full of water and clothes. Managed to manually drain it, and get the clothes out - sopping wet, but it does not want to play. Why do these things happen when you're broke My mum knows a good repair man, but dh seems to think its had it. So much for spending money on nice baby things

Sorry its so long

take care all

xx

muminabigtumi · 22/01/2007 21:08

Thanks for the hugs and kind words guys...I have to admit I have had a teary few days and am really preoccupied with worrying about how I will cope....I know it is only natural probably but it sucks doesn't it! I think it can be easy for pregnancy to become your every waking thought and planning the future and how you are going to do things just takes over from everything else...I just need to take a deep breath and relaaaaaaaaaaax lol

It is so great though having you all on here to just vent too - Phil is a good listener but lets face it - he's a bloke....and I know he just switches off and does the "uh huh and nod" thing whilst thinking about something else!!!
Weeonion - awwww re the petrol cap....I cried before cos I managed to put one of James's used pull ups in the washing machine.....oh my god ...what a mess.....

sigh suppose thats another reason to use reusables lmao!!!!

muminabigtumi · 22/01/2007 21:12

Maveta - re the cats!

Little buggers aren't they!! To be honest I would say that cats are pretty determined and when he is hungry enough he will get over his fear and get back in...

This morning we realised that we had had an "overnight visitor" as when Phil came downstairs that blinking black cat was curled up next to jasper in his bed!!! Phil reckons we find out who it belongs to and start charging for B&B!!!

It must be female....think Jazzie has got hismelf a girlfriend.....at least he has had the snip so we won't be having any more births around here!!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 21:12

MIABT, sorry you are feeling bit low in the confidence stakes. I thnk that is totally normal.

I really do think it will just have to be a case of - and excuse the pun - suck it and see with nappies, bf'ing etc. Try not to worry, and just go with whatever feels right for you, baby, James and dh. That's how I was with Becky, and whilst it wasn't pain sailing by any means, I found a comfort zone and everyone was happy. Esp with the b'feeding. There was so much pressure and so many people shoving my norks left right and centre. In the end, it was just getting none of us anywhere fast, I was starting to resent Becky even, so we went on to the bottles, and never looked back.

Too much info is sometimes dangerous - try not to get overwhelmed and dis-illusioned.

God, sorry I hope that doesn't sound patronising - it isn't meant to be in the slightest.

Hugs. x

muminabigtumi · 22/01/2007 21:15

Not patronising at all - and I love the word "Norks" it never ceases to make me smile!

You are of course quite right......
I am off to bed - I am NOT going to read anything pregnancy related...I shall get on with "Getting rid of matthew" instead! x
Night

To everyone feeling down & poorly

Dh has just told me that he might have to do a few jobs in Germany. Wouldn't normally be a problem, but looks like their scheduled in for March/April He's told them that he can't go because of due date, and he's lost his passport (not a complete lie, we just can't be bothered to have a good look for it) They were more concerned about him not having a passport Seems to have put them off...for now.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 21:21

God runny, that would be crap timing wouldn't it. My dh announced to me the other day that he was going to be mega busy around due date. Really not what I wanted to hear.

I really don't know how people manage with their dh's being away long term and having lo's - Claricebean, you are incredible!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 21:27

MABT, God love your Jasper. How very accommodating of him. Our cats would never tolerate another cat like that.

Hi Ange!

CaptainDippy · 22/01/2007 21:32

Geez, these bloomin' men, eh!!? Fortunately, the people my DH works for are lovely and flexible so I know all will be ok when this little bubba comes .... > Definitely going to need a hand getting the hang of 3 under 3.5 - Eeeeeek!!

More [[hugs]] MIABT - I've been feeling v.low recently, so can sympathise honey. You know where we are and that we all care about you!!

Anyway, I do believe I said I was going to bed ....

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 22/01/2007 21:40

CD - go to bed!! It's bloody compulsive viewing mumsnet isn't it!?
I was reading the childbirth stories earlier, and that was fabulous!

I have also been reading th book that Mel Guidryc (sp??) wrote - from here to maternity. It is so funny!

Anyway, having a mug of hot chocolate and then bed for me too. Dd has a rubbish cold again and seems a bit restless tonight, so not sure what night we will get - ho hum!

Huge hugs to everyone.

Emmymummy · 23/01/2007 07:21

CALLING ALL S.E. MEET UP LADIES COMING ON THE TRAIN!!!! Sorry to shout, but had to get your attention! I believe we'll be travelling with South West Trains on Saturday, and I will check the situation re. 1st class travel as I don't want anyone to get into trouble (I work in the rail industry so can get some insider knowledge). Hope that's OK!

Bramshott & CD - I'm sure I can get on the same train as you as I'll get on at either Woking or Farnborough, so pink carnations all round huh?

muminabigtumi · 23/01/2007 08:47

Hello all!

Ohhh runny - I bet you were panicking about DH maybe being away....thats all you need...if you find the passport I would conveniently lose it!!!

SOSPL - It is very accomodating of Jasper - he normally won't tolerate any cat on "his patch" let alone eating his food or in his bed so they must be "mates"...it does look like a female cat but I haven't got close enough to check for sure!! All I am bothered about is the thing spraying or scratching as we are very lucky cos Jasper doesn't do either. I have attached a piccie of the Ginger one into my profile if anyone wants to see him...

Hope Becky's cold is not too bad, James has woken up with ....as he puts it..."mummy...my nose has bogies...." and his nose is streaming...my poor Mum has a really bad cold as well and so we are going to pop over and make sure she is ok and take her dogs out for her after the Tesco shop has been delivered....so no doubt between the two of them I shall get it again!!!

AngeG - hope your SPD is a bit less troublesome today - I think we are all bound to feel it now if we walk alot or over do things...but if you have SPD it must be a thousand times worse.

Well it is a beautiful crisp morning here, nice and bright but VERY cold (as I found out when I nipped to the recycle in my dressing gown - brrrrr!) It is actually....shock horror - SUNNY!

Going to get showered and togged up and just potter in the garden and tidy the damage up after the storm...may even get my pram cleaned today! hurray!
Catch you all later
X

EllieK · 23/01/2007 09:05

claricebean · 23/01/2007 09:08

Morning girls,

Well DD2 seems much better today and has only complained about an itchy foot so far, so I'm hoping she's already over the worst of the itching. Thanks for the sympathy everyone, and for the tip re bicarb of soda, runny.

Have been looking at DS's perfect, beautiful skin and cannot believe it might get all spotty . DD2 looks like a spotty teenager, especially as her hair is so greasy and lank (can't wash it or even brush it as she has spots on her head!!).

Runny, hope your dh doesn't have to go to Germany around your due date. How ridiculous some employers are. My DH gets back when I'm 36 weeks so am hoping that this one doesn't decide to come too early. I want a chance to have a rest first! Then he's away for one or two nights when I'm 38 weeks - hmmmm, all getting a bit close then . Still, that'll be the last of it. Then we can get back to normal. Well, normal with a newborn.

I've been reading the January post natal thread a bit, just to reminisce and inject a bit of realism into my day dreams. I seem to have a very selective memory about those first few weeks!!

Anyway, have a good Tuesday everyone.

Birdiebump · 23/01/2007 09:16

Good morning to all. Wonder what everyone else thinks of our thread title - v cryptic to the uninitiated!

We finally got our Stokke Xplory last night and had a great time playing with it. DS2 even got a sit in it although he is just a bit too tall by now. DH still maintains it looks like a golf trolley but is suitably impressed by its build quality and tiny turning circle!

In work but hoping to head off this afternoon. I am just not sleeping properly anymore - I don't know what wakes me up - must be LO, I guess - but all night long I wake up every couple of hours it seems. Normally I am quite a morning person but at the moment feeling well ropey!

MIABT et al - IKWYM re feeling incapable! I seem to be completely crap at everything at the moment and the smallest thing gets me upset. But I'm definitely with SOSPL - suck it and see! I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself - just take it as it comes and see how I do.

Off to look at Jasper the cat - love the name! God, I miss having cats!

weeonion · 23/01/2007 09:23

biride - love the new title!

muminabigtumi · 23/01/2007 09:25

Birdie - you can come and have this black one!!!!
x

Birdiebump · 23/01/2007 09:34

MIABT - Jasper is sooooo adorable!! Would love to have the black one but DH claims to be allergic to them... Once this LO is out and things have settled down again, I'm gonna try sneaking one in though.... a little cute kitten - want one now!!!!

cazboldy · 23/01/2007 09:40

Morning All!
Snap with needing to go and get chicken food Ellie! Loads to do today as always (she says while sitting on the computer and stuffing her face!)
Although we live on a farm we live next to a really busy road at the moment and we had 3 cats when we moved here but one by one they all fell victim to the road and I said I wouldn't get another one while we live here but as we are moving in about 6 weeks I have promised dd we can get a kitten (or 2) after the baby is born.
I had spd with pg no 3 but nothing last time (there was a 5 year gap in the middle so maybe that helped?) but have been feeling some definite twinges. fingers crossed as that is something I could definitely do without! Sympathy to all you ladies who are suffering with it.
Is anyone else going for a home birth?

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 23/01/2007 09:45

Morning ladies

Hugs to MIABT - don't be hard on yourself about nappies/feeding - it is really hard to do the right thing - I practically tortured myself mentally over feeding my first and the bottle feeding my second - I thought that friends/family would be really supportive about any decision I made as to how I feed my baby - as I would be to them - but some people just can't contain their views and it can be really upsetting - ignore it and do what is best for you. I am going to try to breastfeed this time and really give it a go but at the end of the day if it is causing stress then I will change to bottles - ideally would like to mix feed - unfortunately there seems little support for this or information available on how to make it work.

I am using cloth nappies because I am an addict - but would never judge a person based on whether they do or not - lots of people feel they need to justify to me why they use disps (ex advisor thing)- which they don't - and I have heard some crap reasons - would be better if they just said they couldn't be arsed

I have looked into making cloth nappies before - there are a number of websites which sell patterns and material - google it and see what comes up. I know a few people who make their own wool longies out of jumper sleeves LOL!

I have had two crap nights sleep - just wake up constantly - so off to bed for an hour or so while ds2 at playgroup.

geordiemacminx · 23/01/2007 09:51

Hey ladies, sorry some of you are feeling so rubbish - I think it really isnt helped with the time of year!!

Sorry to post and run, in the middle of doing some stuff at work, keep making silly mistakes due to lack of concentration!!

Here is a pic of my little boy

samson

I know... I'm such a cruel mummy!!

runnyhabbit · 23/01/2007 09:52

Morning all

Cazboldy - I'm hoping for homebirth (and I think Captain Dippy is) The only downside is my SPD. Although the physio is very pro homebirth (had one herself)as she says there's less chance of medical intervention. Apparently it would be better for my SPD recovery to have an unassisted birth (please pretty please!) or a c-section, which neither her or mw are ruling out atm.

Need some advice about our cats. We've had a new kitchen fitted, which has a nice shiny glossy worktop. But our cats love it so much we often find them sitting/sleeping on it. We always disinfect the entire worktop, but tbh its a real pita, and makes me feel like we're not clean I'm embarrassed to let anyone go into our kitchen in case they see a cat on the worktop. We've tried putting a piece of carpet on the tiled floor, but they won't have any of it.

Bramshott · 23/01/2007 09:58

Emmymummy - it would be great if you could get the same train! Thanks for offering to check re the first class, but I fear that unless they've changed it, the rule is only if there are no seats in standard, and then possibly only if you have a season ticket. Last pg I did have a season ticket as I was commuting, and it was great the few times I got to sit in first!

SOSPL - let us know what name the restaurant is booked under. Otherwise we will be three ladies with pink carnations rolling off the train and asking for a reservation made by "Sexonlegs". Might get a few funny looks!
