Morning ladies

Hoe the Southern ladies have a wonderful time today at the meet up - am v jealous.

Hugs to everyone - think we all need them judging byu our posts - but as has been said before this is just the best place to be and vent as we al seem to be understandign how we are all feeling.

Not much to report here...hopefully this will cheer peeps up...
Laughed my ass off at work yesterday - We have a new Dr who started in January, I lumbered into his room yesterday with some notes and as I was leaving he said "Pauline...are you pregnant?".....
I burst out laughing...I said yes and he asked how far on I was....I said 29 weeks - Oh my god did you just think I was putting on loads of weight!!!
Can't beeive he didn't know - I was even talking about it the other day when he was there and I asked him if he had kids?!!! ROFL - so much for his clinical observations skills eh?? - EEK!!!!

Going to visit the in laws today - not particularly looking forward toit as it is kind of a "mercy mission". My FIL is a stroke victim and is getting increasingly aggressive towards my MIL who is coping admirably but really struggling - they get no help/support or respite and I think it is at crisis point. We managed to sort out some respite care but FIL is refusing "to be put in a home"...it's a nightmare. MIL rang last night - totally broke down and just wants to sell the house and seperate .....so we are going over to try and talk to them both...don't know what we are going to do ...Must KEeep Smiling!
Love you girls!Enjoy your day - will look forward to catching up on the meet up goss later
xxxx

maveta · 27/01/2007 08:40

miabt - WOW that sounds like a mission indeed, wishing you lots of strength, patience etc etc to help you deal with it. What an incredibly hard situation.

Okay, I´ve had enough of feeling sorry for myself and have decided that it´s all back to normal now! Today I´m going to clean the house (only a little bit, mind..) and when dh gets back from work we´ll have lunch, go for a long country walk, have a siesta, set up the nursery furniture and then go into town for a bite to eat and a beer (for him, of course).

Decided I have to pull my socks up or it´s going to be a long few months!!

So I hope you all have a lovely time at the meet up today, I can´t wait to hear all about it. And for everyone else, I hope you have fabulous weekends and all find time to do something nice for yourselves. x x x x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 27/01/2007 09:17

Morning all.

MIABT, Dr's eh! 10/10 for observation!!
I hope your day goes ok - a very difficult situation to deal with by the sounds of it. Must be v frustrating for your fil not being able to do what he used to be able to do, and for your mil must be exhausting and upsetting to see the man she married get so aggressive.

Hope everyone is ok today. Maveta, you sound really upeat today. Have a lovely day.

I am in a bit of pain today. I was in the kitchen last night (nothing new there then!) and a piece of wood from our NEW kitchen, fell off from above me hit me on the shoulder and landed on my foot. Can't put any weight on it or bend some of the toes. Don't think it is broken as would be in agony, but something aint right with it. I am so utterly pissed off, as it is making getting around even more difficult than it is anyway at the moment. I am just grateful it didn't fall on Becky.

Andrej is going to call the builders on Monday and give them an earful!

Right, need to hobble off and get showered and dressed.

See you all later ladies.

eca · 27/01/2007 09:31

hi

just popping by to say a quick hello. We've got friends over all weekend who've been here since thursday night and it's all very busy! They are a bit younger than us and don't have kids and I feel bad that I'm not up to our usual run round and do lots of things with them. Spent yesterday feeling sick and tired, mainly because I'd waited up for them to arrive and didn't get to bed until 12. 10 is my latest at the mo!

Anyway, had a quick scan of the thread. Sorry to anyone I miss...

Pesha - sorry to hear ds is ill. Hope the poor little mite gets better soon. xx

Clarice - you are doing really well! Sorry you had a melt down. Hope you have a nice weekend and get your strength back up a bit.

Hello Bugmum! Nice to 'see' you again!

Maveta - hope you're feeling better today.

SOL - hope becky's feeling bit better too.

GMM - looking forward to the scan pics. We just couldn't justify one in our buget, esp with me being a student the last year.

HLM - hope ds's pox is clearing up. Goodness, it really is that time of year isn't it!

Ange - glad your blood results were good! Yipee!

WO - sorry you've been feeling low and had such a stress with mw and scan etc.

miam - hope the mercy mission to the PIL goes well. you are a saint aren't you!

Hope all you lovely meet-up ladies have a great time!

Right, better get on and entertain guests. Also, they told me about a friend who I was at college with who had dd at 28 wks! I knew she was preg, but hadn't heard she'd had prem baby. That was in Aug 06! And they are all fine now. Dd is home and there seem to be no long term effects. It's amazing what the docs can do isn't it? Felt wierd hearing that and being 28wks myself! But, glad it was all ok.

Ok, take care! bye!

12weeksandcounting · 27/01/2007 10:23

Morning folks - still grumpy here - was awake from 1- 4am and couldn't get back to sleep at all - ended up in tears - so feel terrible this morning - dh gone to play golf and at home with boys who are starting to get restless! I am going to have a bath - hopefully in peace then will walk down village and get them some sweets if they let me have bath in peace!

Having hair cut this afternoon so have some time for me which will hopefully cheer me up - little potter round Bath and nice coffeee somewhere too.

Sainsburys coming between 12-1pm - so atleast don't have to go food shopping!

Have fun at the meet up and will pop back later xoxoxoxox Hugs to all

muminabigtumi · 27/01/2007 10:34

Glad to hear your feeling brighter Maveta :-) Your day sounds like it will be lovley!
SOSPL - re wood falling on your from kitchen! Hope your ok - sounds like the builders need a good rollocking!
12weeks - sorry your feeling down love, hope you get your peaceful bath - I'm sure your haircut etc this afternoon will help you feel better.
Eca - have a lovley time with your rellies!
Right - I am off now - just ben looking for a soft play centre near MIL, my niece is alsop there today whilst her Dad goes to the footie so my plan is to take MIL with me and the kids to there to get her out of the house for a change and to enjoy the grandkids and hopefully we can get to chat a bit away from FIL - Phil can tackle him over the football!!
It is a very horrible situation. FIL was so fit and active before stroke and is now totally dependent on MIL. He is understandably bitter and frustrated but it has started to get worse in terms of verbal abuse and arguing recently. She already gave him his "last chance" to try and work through stuff on Boxing Day so I don't know where we are going from here.
Hugs to all and speak soon

Laith - hoping things are moving for your poor sister now!!
x

Katy44 · 27/01/2007 14:28

Hi everyone,
Sorry everyone seems to be having a tough time recently, wo at your midwife.
MIABT - hope the ILs get things sorted. Is it possible the stroke has affected him mentally? I'm just asking as your MIL might be entitled to quite a lot of help and support.
Well our house is officially on the market! I'm veering between excitement and panic at the moment.

1becomes3 · 27/01/2007 17:31

Hello all, just in case you chatter boxes haven't noticed I haVEN'T BEEN AROUND FOR A WEEK OR SO (wooops hit caps lock)
Nothing to worry about everything is fine, it is just FUCKING SHITTY NTL have buggered up my broad band connection and aren't coming to fix it till next week.

I feel like I have missed out on so much and there is no way I will ever be able to catch up with all the gossip.
So when I am back on line You willl have to fill me in on any of the major stuff I have missed.

LOL to you all. Missing you loads

12weeksandcounting · 27/01/2007 19:04

Evening ladies

Hello 1b3 - hope you are okay.

Good news about the house Katy44 - you are a brave lady!

Had hair cut and coloured - so feeling a bit better - managed not to buy anything while in Bath (must be a first!)

Having yummy fresh prawns with garlic and lemon and french stick then sea bass courtesy of dh yuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyy

Have bought some white wine to go with it for dh so may treat myself too - was quite suprised that Waitrose didn't have any alcohol free wine at all

The going to watch a film - this is becoming a saturday night thing!

Have anice evening everyone and let us know the gossip about the meet up!

11weeksandcounting tomorrow!

oooggs · 27/01/2007 19:22

Hi all - had a scan & saw the consultant on Wednesday. I was 28+6 and the twins are measuring 31 weeks each and are already 3 1/2 lbs each. So no wonder I feel like a whale.

Hope all is well with you all xx

29+2

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 27/01/2007 20:08

Evening all.

Oogs and 1b3, lovely to see you back on here. We were wondering where you had got too! Great news about the twins oogs - a great size already!

BBCK, you sound like you had a lovely day - and your dinner sounds gorgeous! Forget BigOnion, can you send your dh over please!

Katy, v brave re your house going on the market. Do you plan to move far?

Well, we had the South East meet up, and obviously I can't speak for all, but it was lovely. So fab to meet others who are in the same boat, and great to put faces to names. Must do it again!

Right, dinner is drying up in the pan as I "speak" so better rescue it!

claricebean · 27/01/2007 21:53

Hope the meet up was good, South East girls.

MIABT - how were the PIL, hope it wasn´t too stressful.

SOSPL - at your builders, hope you´re OK

eca - thanks for the encouragement

oogs - wow, what great sizes for twins, you must be thrilled

1b3 - hello again

12w - enjoy your nice evening

Hi to everyone else. Well we had a better day today. We went outside to the park, which I think restored everyone´s sanity. DD2 is still spotty but they look pretty dried up now so am definitely sending her to school on Monday. And my parents arrive Tuesday evening .

Off for a bath and to start new book. Have a great Sunday.

muminabigtumi · 28/01/2007 09:37

Well thats a surprise - was expecting it to take me an hour to catch up!!!
1b3 - glad your ok - look forward to seeing you when you get back properly.
Glad the meet up was good!
Had a nice day yesterday actually. Really enjoyed playing with James and my neice Charlotte - they got on so well - hardly any squabbling at all!!

Katy44 - yes the stroke has definatley affected my FIL mentally in that it has made him agressive..I really don't think he is able to control it - it is very sad as he is so sorry afterwards but it is getting more frequent and the outbursts more vicious. As for the "loads of support" forgive me for laughing hysterically. It has been over a year and a half since his stroke and we are still fighting tooth and nail for everything - he is still on the waiting list for counselling. They have cut his Occupational Therapy and Physio - we are even fighting to get his antidepressant level reviewed at the doctors - and don't get me started on benefits....!!!! Sorry I must not rant - the whole thing is a joke. I have managed to sort out social services coming again next month to re assess them both as I can't beleive they are not entitled to some hep towards some kind of respite care to give them both a break.
MIL was just massivley cheered up having the grandkids there and we had a good talk and a cry and a hug and I think that helped her a bit. I just feel pretty useless really.
Well it is my rescheduled girly afternoon today ...unless I get a phonecall again! lol Looking forward to it - must feed up on a nice lunch and lots of ice cream as I have to fast tonight for my GTT tomorrow - boo hoo!
Hope you all have a good day
xxxx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 28/01/2007 11:02

Hi ladies. God it has been really quiet on here this weekend.

CB, I am glad your day was better yesterday. Counting down until your parents come!
My foot feels a lot better than yesterday, but have quite a bruise.

MIABT, I am glad your day went ok too. I don't think you sound useless at all. Sounds like you are doing as much as you can. It is just a horror that you are having to fight for everything the whole time.

Not much to report here. Off to the beach later on.

Have a lovely day all. I am hoping the SE ladies got home ok - no-one has been on since!!

zazas · 28/01/2007 11:38

Good morning all - my weekly chance to catch up with our pregnancy trials and tribulations....

WeeOnion - total sympathy with you - with my first I was told one moment I was too small next it was going to be bigger than average (this was a scan 2 days before she was born) and that I was over doing everything etc. Anyway she was a petite 6lb6 (4 days late) and since I was nearly 9lbs at birth and her Dad at 6ft2 (now that he is grown up!) was nearly 11 lbs - they kept saying she should be a big one!!!!!! Unless they find something definite to be concerned about - take it all with a pinch of salt

Anyway I have nothing really to "moan" about - except the usual pregnancy tiredness - feel great in the morning and it is all downhill from there - my poor kids are getting a grumpy Mummy come 8pm and have told me!

Just received my Hugga-Bub sling that I ordered - so cute - my DD and I have taken turns practising wearing it with her life sized baby dolls!!! Still the stroller / bed and carseat to sort - with a 5 year gap between my last 2 nothing was saved! Still it is fun seeing what is new on the market.

30 weeks in a couple of days - that feels like the homeward stretch doesn't it? Hope you all have a restfull Sunday - that all your little ones are on the mend and as I can't keep up - I hope you have found your cat again maveta??!!!

claricebean · 28/01/2007 12:15

Hi girls, it's quiet here today. Well I have had a morning of lego and baths with DS; DDs seem to be happily playing something or other (schools, I think) so obviously getting outside yesterday has made everyone feel a bit better.

Am currently making easy (paired down) roast dinner (beef, sweet potatoes and yorkshire - yum). Can't face all the trimmings when it's just me and the kids.

How was yesterday, SE girls?

Hope all pg niggles are doing OK and here's to a better week for all of us who had sick children / general grumps last week. I'll be around tomorrow and Tuesday, then not much when parents are here. Can't imagine how much there'll be to catch up on!!

Glad the PIL went OK, MIABT.

11weeksandcounting · 28/01/2007 13:04

Afternoon all! Had nice lie in til midday

MIABT - big hugs re FIL

ooogs - great news about the scan - they are obvisouly really happy in there - must be all the chocolate

Quiet day today - dh done ironing now cooking lunch Am going to take boys out after lunch so he can paint nursery ceiling! Think he got the message about me being grumpy!

I too have! been practising with my sling and ds2's bear - he likes wearing nappies too!

Have a nice day all xoxoxox

CaptainDippy · 28/01/2007 14:01

Have to wake DD's up and go to a friend's little boys' 1st Birthday Party in mo, so can't be too long .....

SE Meet-Up yesterday was lovely - so nice to meet WaspElly, SOSPL, Bramshott, EmmyMummy & AngeG!! We had a lovely lunch in a little Italian place and chatted and relaxed - super! You are all lovely - and not pervvy men who like to rub Bumps!!

I am glad you had a reasonable time with MIL & FIL in the end MIABT and you and MIL were able to have a bit of a heart-to-heart etc.... A very tough situation. Do you think MIL will act out on her ultimatum??

Hi ooooogs, glad everything is good with the twins- @ their sizes already - great stuff!!

I am soooooo tired today, would much rather go to bed than go to this party. Oh well, needs must ..... ....

maveta · 28/01/2007 14:08

Wow it IS quiet in here today.. having a very relaxed sunday here, just had bacon and eggs for lunch and we set up the ikea drawers in the baby´s room and had a look through the clothes my mum bought for us.

They are all newborn - up to 10lbs - am thinking maybe I should have some of a bigger size in, just in case?? So far we have Long sleeved sleepsuits, long sleeved bodies, short sleeved bodies but only 1 t-shirt, 1 pair of leggings and 1 jumper. Should I have more t-shirts/ vests/ leggings/ jumpers?

I ask because Mum is going to the UK and I love the mothercare stuff so much compared to what there is here, so Mum can pick more stuff up for me.

Zazas - how is the hugabub to use? I was looking at the freedom sling which looks super easy but the hugabub does look quite secure and well made. Is it very complicated?

Less said about the cats, the better. They are on the verge of being homeless. We called the police to rescue the black and white one and now the orange one has gone and got himself stuck in an abandoned house next door.

zazas · 28/01/2007 15:11

Maveta - well I can't compare to any other sling as I have only used baby carriers in the past which I found hurt my back and didn't last that long. The hug-a-bub - is really just a long, long warp of stretch material but 'playing' with it so far seems easy to put on and really adaptable to the size / age of the baby. I love the way it will be my hips that help carry the weight - have used a hippy chick seat with my DS when he was older and it suits me to carry using my hips not my shoulders. So far it seems great and my DP after initial reservations has also seen the light I got it from the carrying kind on the website although the Australian website where they are from is good for information!

As for clothes.... it will depend on the baby - my first was tiny and was slow to put on weight and was in small size baby clothes for the first 8 weeks my DS was 7lbs10 at birth and was quick to put on weight and move into 0 - 3 months. eventually you will need them so I say stock up now while you can!!!! Short sleeve bodies are great summer and winter as a basic and mine always wore them under 'outfits' as otherwise there middle is bare as t.shirts ride up. In hotish weather a short sleeve body is all they need in my experience...

11weeksandcounting · 28/01/2007 17:52

One coat of paint on nursery walls and ceiling

I would say get some vests too and maybe some sleepsuits or rompers (without feet) - I assume its going to be mega hot Maveta so vests should be fine for the day and night during the summer.

Just had bath to try and sort spd - have my relaxation and breathing class tonight - it is a birthing ball session!

Just had an advocado and yoghurt and then some coke - coke bad idea - now full of wind! Dh has given me some money to get a chinese on way home - he gets a gold star this weekend

Must hop off now or will be late!

Eddas · 28/01/2007 18:34

11weeksandcounting, you've made me want to change me name to 9 weeks and counting!! Can't wait. But am starting to panic that i'm really disorganised this time round. Think buying a new and slightly run down house hasn't helped. Mind you didn't think we'd move in and a week later find out I was pg, oops

I went out today and bought some formula and a few other bits so thinking i'm a little more prepared now

oh well all bits are in the loft so if baby arrives early dh will just have to get it all ready by himself?!

CaptainDippy · 28/01/2007 19:12

Evening! Gosh, it has been quiet today - What is everyone up to?? Hope you've had fab weekends!!

Would recommend getting plenty of size 0-3m stuff too maveta (darn, another excuse for shopping !) Average weight for babies (over here anyway) is 7lb 8oz ish and a baby of that size don't fit into Newborn for v.long, I assure you - My 1st DD was 8lb at birth and wore Newborn for a week!! The Newborn stuff got lots of wear from my 2nd DD though as she was 5lb at birth and wore Newborn for a couple of months (after working her way through obscenely small Tiny and Early Baby clothing!!)

muminabigtumi · 28/01/2007 19:18

Hi everyone

Maveta - what a nightmare you are having with those cats - poor you....I would reiterate what the others have said - can never have too many short sleeve bodysuits as they are good under stuff as well as on own in hot weather.

CD - hope the birthday party was good and 12 weeks - glad the painting is going well.
I had a lovley afternoon. met up with my friend and had a lovely lunch anda good natter and then we went to see "The Pursuit Of Happiness" with Will Smith in. It was an excellent film but my god it was hard to watch and I bawled my eyes out at the end (hormones obviously . Would recommend it but it is frustrating to watch as you just can't beleive someone could have such bad luck. Certainly made me come home and feel very lucky....if you go - take LOTS of tissues! Will Smith deserves an Oscar for his performance - he was brilliant (don't know if he's nominated for it?)

Well I am going to have some tea but I am not at all hungry after eating an obscene amount of ice cream at the cinema but given I then have to fast tonight as I have my GTT tomorrow I better try and eat something!

Hope we all have a good week this week!
x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 28/01/2007 19:43

Evening all. 12 weeks, am very jealous of your lie in until midday. I had a lie in until 8.30 so should have felt rested, but have felt knackered all day!

CD, really glad you enjoyed the meet up too. Hope you had a good journey back. Did you get back after the girls had gone to bed?

Maveta, can't believe your cats - they really are giving you the runaround arn't they!

Hi Eddas and hi Zazas.

Hope everyone else is ok and have had a great weekend. x
