Thanks for the new thread Smile

Yay for boy and girl Smile I'm getting so impatient to find out what I'm having.

Had my 16 wk appointment today all fine and heartbeat heard Grin

jellypi3 · 25/08/2015 20:23

i was so glad my mw listened to the heartbeat, it was really reassuring. Less than 3 weeks until my scan now!!!

The only worry is apparently I have a velamentous cord - the sonographer said it's high up and away from the cervix which is the main worry as it can then rupture during a natural delivery. I've googled since and I think it's something to keep an eye on. I've got my 16 week appointment with the midwife next week - when I will actually be 18 weeks - so will see what she says. I'm having a c section anyway so think that reduces risks too. Something else to worry about! Apparently quite rare - only about 1% of singleton pregnancies. Typical.

SweetCharlotteRose · 25/08/2015 20:28

Congrats on your boy Rufus. Gorgeous little one.

NorthernChinchilla · 25/08/2015 20:59

Quick place mark as we've travelled from one end of the country to the other today (regular family trip) and am shattered!

CalypsoLilt · 25/08/2015 21:05

Congrats Charlotte on your girl!! And Rufus on your boy!!

Any shortlisted names yet?

haquoi123 · 25/08/2015 21:49

Place marking, and congrats Charlotte and Rufus! rufus that is a beautiful scan! It took a my eyes a while to work it out, not used to the 3D! So lovely.

Charlotte I can't believe they won't help. Are you able to go private?

Thanks jelly for the new thread!

madsaz76 · 25/08/2015 22:05

Quick bookmark. 16 week appointment on Thursday and definitely have a bump now. Maternity clothes are increasingly alluring but slightly chuffed I have only put 5-6 lb on

IslaMann · 25/08/2015 22:37

Just a quick msg to ensure I'm on thread. Had 16wk mw appt today, bloods taken for quad test. Gotta wait 2 weeks for the results now.

goneswimming · 25/08/2015 22:55

I'm so glad mn is back! (Compulsive clicking happened here!)

goneswimming · 25/08/2015 22:55

isla what's the quad test?

IslaMann · 26/08/2015 06:38

Gone - it's a blood test that you have when you couldn't have the NT screening. It measures 4 elements to give risk factors for downs, Edwards and turners syndromes. I couldn't have the NT test as baby wouldn't turn away from the scanner and show the back of its neck to be measured.

NorthernChinchilla · 26/08/2015 07:31

I had to do a massively dignified partially dressed mad stompy dance round the room to get mine in place Isla, didn't think it would work. Don't remember DS being that uncooperative....

Congrats and friendly Envy to those who know what they're having, how lovely.

Charlotte did the GP give you any further options other than just saying you need a specialist service? I would have thought that it would have been the starting point.... Hopefully your MW would be more clued up about pre natal stuff?

RattyCatty · 26/08/2015 08:16

Thank you for new thread and so lovely to see sex news, huge congratulations! Grin

CalypsoLilt · 26/08/2015 08:18

Got these bites in Italy over the weekend, 3 days of hydro-cortisone cream hasn't helped. They don't itch or hurt at all. Should I go to the doctor or am I wasting their time? There's 5 bites in all, these 2 are the biggest.

Does anyone know if 16 week midwife appts are standard? I've received my appt letter for my 20 week scan, but I'm 16 weeks on Saturday and nothing has come through yet?

NoMontagues · 26/08/2015 09:03

calypso I've never seen that bites come up like that. Are they raised at all (can't see from photo)?

Have they faded at all since the first day?

NoMontagues · 26/08/2015 09:06

Grr. Bites that come up like that.

Brain fog today. I must have slept like the dead last night as DS's monitor ran out of battery overnight. Usually the piercing beep that it emits every 5 seconds for the half hour before it dies would wake me to charge it, but no.

Didn't wake DH either Confused

clarabellski · 26/08/2015 09:34

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread jelly, like the title! My boobs are definitely growing, I have a 'control' bra I use to measure! Grin

I laughed at ratty's comment re good sex news. Know what you meant but it has been, errr..., rather quiet on that front for me as am getting rid of a UTI at the moment Blush. Congratulations rufus & charlotte Cake

Smashley I had to phone up and book my 16 week appointment - they didn't do it for me and I think it is the same for all of the midwife appointments from now on. It's just the scans that they book in for you I believe. SPeaking of which, I have mine at 10.15 this morning so am sitting on the couch 'working from home' watching This Morning

Clara

BadgieBear · 26/08/2015 09:43

Congrats rufus on your boy (and a fab scan) and charlotte on your little girl - am thrilled for you both and a little bit jealous as getting impatient waiting for flutters/16 week appt (next week)....anything to remind me there is a baby and not a sick-making machine in me!!! Smile

CalypsoLilt · 26/08/2015 09:51

montague no, not raised really, you can feel the bite site but they aren't bumpy or infected. They haven't faded one iota since the weekend.

I think I will ask my pharmacist rather than annoy the doctor. Feelings of wasting doctors time is a British thing right?! hahahaha

NoMontagues · 26/08/2015 09:53

Good idea to ask the pharmacist.

Well... I'm Irish and even though we have to pay €65 to annoy the doctor they still get huffy if it's something small!

BananaRaces · 26/08/2015 09:55

Calypso unless you've reacted to bites like that before I think I would see the doctor if they don't start to go in the next couple of days, they look a bit odd. Better safe than sorry and all that.

Rufus and Charlotte many congrats, what lovely news!!

Over thanks for the very kind message. I am doing OK. I am one of those weird people who, when something bad happens, have a big cry and go completely to pieces for a day... and then think "right, better get on with it", pull socks up and am OK for the rest of it. I'm sure I'm going to be a massive bag of nerves on Tuesday, and then until we get the results, but at the moment I'm really OK. Smile

We went away for a long weekend, which was a lovely distraction, and I have had all sorts of trouble getting into MN which is why I've been away for a few days. Will be back with a vengeance now though! Grin

Clara, tell me about it! I've gone from a 32GG (pre-pregnancy) up to a 34J (I got measure last week) which is just ludicrous!!! Shock

NorthernChinchilla · 26/08/2015 11:22

Dear holy Christ bananas, that's quite some clevage you're rocking!
For some odd reason, my boobs don't change one iota during pregnancy- been wearing the same bras for years whether during the three pregnancies or not Confused

Stepawayfromthezebras · 26/08/2015 13:54

Congrats on the gender news Rufus and Charlotte Smile

Calypso we've got a shortlist of girl's names which we like. Our boys name shortlist we're not so keen on - the baby names book we got isn't very helpful so in desperation I've reactivated my lapsed ancestry.co.uk subscription to see if there are any names on our family trees which could be possibilities....still looking.....
