Oh rufus I've got my fingers crossed for you that they bump you up the list to first place Flowers

I am planning on finally getting round to make my baby needs list at the weekend. Where is the best place to go to have a look at prams and the other big stuff? I want to have lots of choice! Last time everything was a bit of a blur and I didn't get to choose anything so I want to enjoy looking at things this time!

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 20:30

rufus I'd highly recommend beta blockers. Especially because, even if you were first, an emergency would have to take priority and you'd have to wait (although I totally understand that anxiety will not grasp that) and a beta blocker would stop a panic attack in its tracks. I'm off my anti depressants but I just cannot drop my beta blockers Sad so I completely understand your feelings. Cake

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 20:39

It occurred to me yesterday that I won't be able to have any pain relief in labour. Gas and air was previously brilliant, but considering I now despise that heady drunk out of control feeling (I've been teetotal for 3 years) I don't think its a good idea, obviously rules out diamorphine as well, water birth not an option due to needing monitoring, no interest in an epidural (especially because they refused to top up DSis so she went from 0-10 on the pain scale within minutes, bastards) so... I'm screwed Confused

RattyCatty · 05/10/2015 20:50

Oh rufus that is frustrating. Can you change day? Would that help?

Had my flu jab this evening!

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 21:16

rufus Probably not possible, I'm just thinking out loud, as it were... Could they do a conscious sedation with an epidural? Rather than a full blown GA? Or am I being really thick Blush

Rufus200 · 05/10/2015 21:31

Arrow not sure about sedation, surgeon very against drugs but then it is the anaesthetists call not hers, he has to control my blood pressure.

Ratty will see if there is another date next week if not resolved.

TMI alert, had an itchy vulva, felt a l lump, had a look there are two disgusting looking purple lumps! Look like blood blisters about the size of peas. WTF are they???

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 21:52

rufus No idea re the spots but do you have a Peri Natal Psych? Might be worth getting a referral and getting them involved. I think some surgeons etc don't understand the impact that a bad birth experience can have on a woman.

MaisieDotes · 05/10/2015 22:15

rufus might they be varicose veins?

I'm going to play it by ear re pain relief. A lot will depend on whether it's another back to back labour or not.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 22:27

ExDP was stood to my right when I was giving birth to DD2 - I was on my knees - she came out facing him Grin DS1 was back to back... And that's as much was I'm willing to say about that. DD1 nobody knows, DSis and ExDP weren't able to see as all the medical staff were down that end, but they'd not mentioned her position.

Urgh. IBS flare up. Toilet is separate to bathroom here, which is great, buy there's no radiator in there, I've just spent 20 mins in there, shivering. Being cold makes the pain worse?! Usually I'd neck a couple of Immodium but according to the packet I must not. H is snoozing at the side of me, I'm in pain, feel gross and for some reason it all sets off anxiety Confused

Rufus200 · 05/10/2015 22:27

maisie I can't see any veins connecting to them so I don't think they are varicose veins. I've found small brown dots on the other side which might be how it started out. It is pretty repulsive, had to eat 2 jam doughnuts to get over the trauma. Will get Dr to look at them at appt next week, just hope they don't burst, seeing blood in my underwear will freak me out.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 05/10/2015 22:44

rufus Two jam doughnuts you say? Homer drool

jellypi3 · 06/10/2015 08:13

I say that warrants the whole pack of doughnuts rufus!!

Had my flu jab last night too Ratty. I can hardly feel it, just a bit like a bruise and can't see the puncture site. Last year was all swollen and felt like my arm was going to drop off!!

mmm doughnuts.....

I did have some weird lumps down there about a year ago, they went hard and white. Gross. When I had them checked I was told they were just blocked sebaceous glands and they may or may not go away Shock. Thankfully they are now long gone.

RattyCatty · 06/10/2015 10:24

rufus can you pop to doc?

I've just been sent home from school as I felt so hot earlier & like I was going to faint. Think it's the insomnia, flu jab & fact that it's parents evening later that got me in a flap. If I have a temp what should I do?

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 06/10/2015 10:58

Hi girls, can I ask what people are buying in terms of baby sleeping. With DS1 I was given lots of things that I have since given back. So DS had a crib he never used, a Moses basket he used once but wouldn't sleep in due to terrible reflux and a cot that he started using at 6 months. He ended up sleeping in a lullaby chair that was quite upright and rocked back and forth whilst playing music then intended up buying a co sleeping cot and we vo slept.

This time round i just don't know what to get. I have all the mattresses from last time that have never been used so I could pick up another Moses basket. Or are some people just popping them straight into a bedside co sleeping crib?

I had DS three years ago and I remember absolutely nothing. I'm starting to panic a little as so far all I have bought is a carrycot attachment for the pram!!

haquoi123 · 06/10/2015 11:03

Can you ring your doc for advice ratty?

rufus, bubs is now demanding doughnuts...

My turn for tmi, I've got so much discharge it feels like I'm wetting myself. I had this with ds just before he died, but there was a point that I was thinking it was amniotic fluid and I don't necessarily think that's the case this time... Am keeping an eye on it and trying not to panic. I also know that discharge will increase at this point. Anyone else got discharge?

clarabellski · 06/10/2015 11:24

Hi everyone,

Rufus sounds like wrong location but could it be piles? I've had a couple (so glamorous!). Definitely worth getting your GP/midwife to check next time you're there.

Oh dear ratty I hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Hacquoi I am a dripping mess so much so that I've started wearing liner pads Blush. Have been since BFP.

haquoi123 · 06/10/2015 11:28

Thanks clara, that's really helped

Rufus200 · 06/10/2015 11:31

haquoi I also keep on getting a gushing wet feeling and freaking out. My 23 week update specifically said that discharge would increase with a wet feeling.

ratty take paracetamol if you have a temp, temps are not good for baby so you need to bring it down.

I may have eaten 5 doughnuts in under 24 hrs. Bump has gone completely solid and hard today.

C-section update apparently it isn't the surgeons normal day and she will be doing c-section between consults. Other surgeons have priority as it is there day, meaning I could get bumped back. So why the fuck did she choose that sodding day??? Will sort it out at appt next week.

SmashleyHop · 06/10/2015 11:33

I have random drips too so you are not alone. I swear I thought I wet myself the other day.. So charming.

whoknew My MIL is getting us a Chicco Next 2 me bedside cot. I'm hoping it will make night feeds a lot easier and that the baby will sleep better with us being close but not actually in our bed.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 06/10/2015 11:39

Panty liners here too. It's gross.

We're side carring the cot onto our bed from day 1, will probably co sleep a lot again too, and having a crib downstairs (£40 from mothercare) H doesn't want a moses basket due to what happened to his DS... People keep offering them to me and I have to keep saying No in a polite way and then dodging the constant WHY questions.

CalypsoLilt · 06/10/2015 12:02

TMI alert when i get up in the morning it runs down my leg :(

ratty cold flannels are great, or even cool shower/bath if that doesn't help

sleeping arrangements: have got moses basket (gumtree), rocking crib (given 2nd hand) and pram carry cot (new gift) but will probably end up co-sleeping Blush

RattyCatty · 06/10/2015 12:03

Thanks ladies, took my temp & it's normal at mo so think it's just exhaustion from the not sleeping/baby growing. rufus be firm & hope you get it sorted.

monkerina · 06/10/2015 12:12

Haquoi it's grim here too. Bought liners, had thought I'd be able to cheerfully avoid that supermarket aisle for at least a few months.

Sleeping arrangements: planning to buy a moses basket and stand, use them both downstairs and in our bedroom, and then transfer to cotbed after a few months. Who knows if baby will put up with this!

Did my glucose tolerance test this morning, and turns out I'm not diabetic- just got a rather chubby baby Blush

BananaRaces · 06/10/2015 12:24

Haquoi I've got serious discharge here too, have done ever since the start of the second trimester.

Whoknew we've got a rocking crib and a carry cot which my BIL has given us. Hopefully one of those will work, if not then may try co-sleeping.

Rufus I have what the doctor reckons is eczema on my lady bits at the moment so I can join you in the itchy-bits club - brilliant fun. He's given me some cream and said to come back at the end of this week if it doesn't bugger off. Does this qualify me for jam donuts ???
