Blimey small I thought 28deg was bad in our upstairs! glad you had a lovely massage. you got fans on the go to help cool you down?

Well we've had thunder and a downpour earlier here, so had to rush out to get washing in before soaked. V peed off, and then.only just put it back out now as its sweltering again.

mister, lovely to hear how you're getting on with your new arrival. Since I finished on Friday it's just that we had lots of weddings, bdays etc end of June so lots going on, but I'm definitely hoping for a good length of time to relax and do nowt for a while yet. but then another bday party Saturday!

Stinky, just saw the pic of Rude.as I'm on the app. what a cutie! hope you're recovering well.

MrsFbabyNo1 · 01/07/2015 15:28

typo - Rudy,

my phone still likes to type what the hell it wants and puts full stops everywhere and no capitals at the start. I can't be bothered to proof read to correct all the errors with this phone nowadays. Angry

Charliej86 · 01/07/2015 16:27

Just been caught in thunder storm with my DS. I'm terrified of thunder & lightning but try my hardest not to pass my fear on, especially as DS is quite sensitive. We did very well and made it home like drowned rats!!!

Any old wives tales of thunder storms bringing on labour??

WiIdfire · 01/07/2015 17:39

Its D-day here! ....and nothing. So along with Arete (who sneaked in with her June EDD!) we are the first to be officially late!

Went to have a hair cut instead, now just trying not to melt.

Sue - I have a Dyson bladeless fan, my husband got it for my birthday as I had wanted one for ages, and it is lush. Really quiet and not blowy. If you see what I mean. I have the blue round cooling one as I rarely need to add heat!!!

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 17:46

Happy July everyone! It's hot hot hot here and I am not coping at all. Doesn't help that the toddler is being a total shit because she's also hot and bothered and v tired.

joy, as always in awe of your gym habit!

lala, congrats on being ready to go. Sending pushing vibes Smile

muddy, also impressed with your commitment to your equestrian pals. I had my own horse but had to put him out on loan when I was pg with dd because none of my family are horsey fans and I was at a livery yard that I just couldn't afford to keep him on while having the baby. Unfortunately, while he was out on loan, he passed away. We think heart attack. It was all very horrid as the loanee's family hadn't paid a single vets bill and so I not only had to cope with his death but also pay a small mortgage in bills! They then kept a whole load of his stuff so ended up v bitter. My edd is bizarrely the date that he died Sad

Forgot to mention, iron tablets and Spatone (mixing up to avoid side effects) seems to have fixed my restless legs! I am pleasantly surprised. Smile

Aretepetite · 01/07/2015 19:50

Aha Wildfire :)
My original date was the 3/7. 1st scan brought it forward to 30/6 and I wanted to stay you lot Grin

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 19:54

Great stuff small. Mine seems to have settled down now too and replaced with general puffy trotters! My iron levels are still low so I'm still classed as anaemic unfortunately. Trying to snack on Special K and apricots to up it as much as I can.

Hey ladies, just checking in to see how everyone is getting on. This heat is stifling! No breeze at all so not pleasant...
Congrats to all those cuddling their new horns, and any that are in progress. I am most definitely ready for baby LSF to appear, although only 38 weeks tmrw so could have another 4 weeks to go yet!
Hope everyone is well - and well done on the workouts those that have managed to keep them up!

Luckystar82 · 01/07/2015 21:24

Hey mister glad to hear all is well with new little one, very impressed you're already out and about in this heat! Can't wait for newborn cuddles myself, but baby will feel like a hot water bottle if this heat continues! I was so pleased when I learnt the birth centre has air con!

Very pleased it's July 1st today as I feel closer to meeting my baby But I'm so hot! I went to Aqua Natal class in the local pool today for first time, was absolutely lovely - should have made the effort to go earlier. Was lovely to spend some time out of the heat. Then I fell asleep on sofa all afternoon and missed the delivery of my nursing bras...oops.

Good luck to all the ladies who have started labour/ been induced. I hope you are managing to stay cool and hydrated.

Anyone else excited about England playing tonight? Going to try and stay up and watch it...probably won't be able to sleep in this heat anyway

Luckystar82 · 01/07/2015 21:37

broody just read about your horse, what a sad thing to happen and must have been stressful and sad not to get your stuff back :(

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 21:48

Thanks lucky. Yeah, it just made it so much worse than it needed to be. Things I did get back were in awful condition, broken or filthy/mouldy. They'd broken his bridle and a leather head collar - both meant so much to me for soppy reasons, not because they cost a lot or were a big famous brand name but because I remember why and when I bought them (the head collar for example, I bought just after our first dressage comp as a treat to us both for doing well). Horrid.

Morning Ladies,

Could not stay up to watch, just read the news, they did so well.

Awwwwbroody hugs horrid horrid, I can only imagine how you must have felt.

My mum arrived last night, she will be in London for a month before heading back to sunny Lagos climesGrin. First time she is seeing me preggers, bless her, think she is still in awe Smile. Not sure if I have mentioned before my mum is an opthalmologist. She commented on my tummy - said it has descended, she is coming with me to midwife appointment today. So excited to have her around, makes this all real. 3 more days to go, yikes. My little man keeps poking either a hand or fist, must be getting tight in there now, come on out little guy!

Any new arrivals last night Smile xxx

broodylicious · 02/07/2015 07:28

Thanks joySmile

We had our first fb July baby arrive yday. Again, shall let mummy tell you the details. V exciting!!

Ooh goody! I want newborn cuddles now... But maybe wait until it's a bit cooler next week for labour!

Charliej86 · 02/07/2015 16:39

How is everyone dealing with swollen feet/ankles??
I'm really struggling, they're huge and ache. Like the skin is tight and pulling.
I'm only doing 1 school run a day and not a lot else. I try to sit with my feet up through the day but it aches up my calves.
Been soaking my feet in cold water on a night (which cools me down ready for bed too) then sleeping with feet raised. They go down a little by morning but huge again.
My bp n wee were fine on Tuesday at midwife, she wasn't concerned by swelling but they weren't at their biggest.

SparklyPenguin · 02/07/2015 17:04

charliej my feet have been awfully swollen the last few weeks too- sounds like you're doing all the right things though. Cold wet towel over the feet when you've got them up is a nice relief, I've found, also I try and flex/wiggle my toes as much as possible to ease the stiffness. Glad your midwife isn't too worried and that your BP is fine, that's the main thing.

broodylicious · 02/07/2015 17:27

Yep another puffy foot sufferer here too. Didn't get this with dd so I've put it down to the heat. I've been spraying with vitamin e mist and peppermint cooling foot spray, both from the body shop, both kept in the fridge for ultimate chill factor. I also have a cooling body spray from Boots but it's not amazing, well, not in this heat anyway. As the foot spray has peppermint in it, it does take the swelling down.

Charliej86 · 02/07/2015 17:54

I'm drinking quite a lot of water too. I've never had this with DS or DD. DD was born 15th July (10years ago) and I had pre eclampsia, but no swollen feet/ankles.

MrsFbabyNo1 · 02/07/2015 17:55

Yep another here. Friends noticed them two weeks ago, so they started for me at 36weeks. Only a touch puffy to begin with but then on my last week at work and now in this heat they do feel tight / stretched skin! 38 weeks today, so could have 4 weeks of fat feet to go!

I got some boots foot bath soak, cooling gel x2 and a reviving spray (for out n about) on Monday as was buy one get another half price. in them is witch hazel, arnica, peppermint etc. They do seem nice when I've used so far and make feet all cool and tingly afterwards which is nice!

Last midwife apt was 16th June, and BP / wee was fine however not seeing her again til 7th. Have a BP monitor at home so could check if I'm ever bothered. Was told if they did go really "mega" big (like woooh what the) or hands / face and rather suddenly that's when to call em up...

Sherbet38 · 02/07/2015 19:30

I have had swollen get for about 6 weeks now. I was prescribed compression stockings (like thick knee high tights) and even though they looks far from glamorous Wink they really make a difference. I didn't wear them today so I could wear flip flops and my skin felt so tight and uncomfortable, I came home and put the stockings on for some relief!

I saw a consultant today and she has signed be back into midwifery led care Smile I then went and had a tour of the MLU, it's so lovely. Birthing rooms with pools, balls and beds. Then the rooms you stay over night in are all private, ensuite rooms with double bed so DP can stay over too. Grin

JoY007 · 02/07/2015 21:46

Hello .... another elephant feet sufferer here Sad mine started yesterday, the ankles are also swollen, thought exercise will bring it down but not quite.

Will get some peppermint spray even if it's just for the nice cooling factor.

My mum says it's one of those symptoms of late pregnancy and I should not worry.

Had mw appt today urine and BP fine baby 3/5 engaged.

Was offered a sweep, went for it but consultant said my cervix was still closed. All the discomfort for nothing argghh...

I am starting an eviction operation, before my booked induction date which is 17th, hoping baby will be out by then. Loads and loads of pineapple, + spicy food. No dtd here OH refused as soon as I got big Grin

MuddyWellyNelly · 02/07/2015 22:19

I've been getting the odd bout of puffy feet; but in almost asking for it situations such as today, in the warm office, wearing too-tight high heels and walking about a lot Wink.

Scan and monitoring yesterday went well, baby is growing just fine, however they still want to see me twice a week. I've also been booked in for induction at 39+6. Still over 3 weeks away so plenty time for stuff to happen before then. As I still haven't packed bags etc yet, I am hoping for a good week or more though. I also still have 2 weeks of work so that could be an issue too Hmm.

Number were you having a scan today? Hope it went ok.

olympicsrock · 02/07/2015 22:31

Hi everyone,
just checking in. Finally started mat leave and so glad not to be at work in this heat. I can't believe that JoY is still in the gym. A short walk or swim is all that I can manage at the moment.
Elephant feet for the last few days and it was bliss to actually sit in the paddling pool yesterday looking v glam.....
Gorgeous baby Stinky!

Fingers crossed for Wildfire. Last time I was 12 days overdue so i know better than anyone how being late feels. Top tip to get things moving is to go to a swimming pool and do star jumps and running lunges. Downwards pressure on cervix much better than pineapple etc. Clary sage does work too - I got contractions each time I put it in the bath over the last few days.

smallgreenbanana · 02/07/2015 22:55

Has anyone seen the beautiful full moon tonight low in the sky? Full moon also supposed to bring on labour ;)

Feeling a bit uncomfy and crampy tonight... Probably nothing as usual. Wishful thinking I should think!
