Went to bed slightly optimistic last nite, had been getting some good pains through afternoon. Probably just braxtons but since I usually only feel them with a full bladder I'm taking it as a good sign. Also bump was very hard and uncomfortable.
But we're still here no further forward. 38weeks today. Up to 3 weeks left.

NurseP · 03/07/2015 08:23

Teddy arrived 10 pm on Tues 30/6. Had the drip started at about half 6, went from 4 cm to 10 in about half an hour (that smarter a bit! ) . Had to have placenta removed in theatre as would not shift! Still in hospital as he needed iv antibiotics as he was early and there was a long time between waters breaking and having him and the strep b. He is having a little luck of breast bit not really wanting to work that hard for it so hand expressing colustrum and hoping milk comes in and he will be more keen to try, he is taking a bottle ok which is not what I wanted really but his blood sugar was low so Dr advised to give him formula. Am still a bit she'll shocked and can't believe he is here!

I'm joining the elephant feet club! They are huge, skin is pulling and my ankle joints are terribly painful. They do get a bit better in the morning but never back to their original size. Guess that isn't gonna happen until baby is born.

An update on my side: seen consultant yesterday, baby still breech with head under my left ribs facing right (been in that position most of the time) and looks like the cord is around her neck. Meaning that turning the baby manually isn't safe (I wouldn't have wanted that in any case) and since there isn't much liquid around the baby in my placenta it is very likely to stay breech. Next appointment next week Wed and if baby hasn't changed position CS will be scheduled for the following week (38).

Not the news I'm very happy with :((
36+2

And congrats NurseP! Teddy is gorgeous!! Flowers

smallgreenbanana · 03/07/2015 09:11

nursep What a cutie! Many congratulations! Hope you get to go home soon and recover quickly from the surgery. Flowers

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/07/2015 09:15

Congratulations Nurse great he is here safe and sound and hope you can go home soon.

Sue my baby is also breech and at 38 +6 very unlikely to move. I have a c-section booked in for next week. I had the same with my first and although I was upset at first it really wasn't as bad as I feared and recovery was great. Just hope it will be the same this time.

SparklyPenguin · 03/07/2015 09:22

Congratulations nurse he's lovely, hope you get to take him home very soon!

charlieis30 · 03/07/2015 09:24

Congrats nurse!!!

ohlordyplordy · 03/07/2015 09:35

Congratulations Nurse x

SueV14 · 03/07/2015 09:35

Thanks Purple, that's reassuring! I'm just a bit nervous cause the doc said she'd rather deliver this baby early pier than later cause the placenta may not provide her with sufficient nutrients. Plus the cord around her neck. I'm now worried my baby won't be ok... But trying to stay calm. She's moving regularly and her heartbeat was fine yesterday...

SueV14 · 03/07/2015 10:04

That meant to say "earlier rather than later" ????

Clstow · 03/07/2015 10:34

Congrats Nurse, Teddy is lovely. Hope you don't have to stay in hosp for too long.

Number3cometome · 03/07/2015 11:52

Congratulations Nurse!

I don't have elephant feet anymore. Had them bad in the 20+ weeks, but then they went. I do walk like a penguin though.

Scan yesterday was great, baby has had a big grow and now 7lb (he was 5lb 3 weeks ago). BP is creeping up so my csection date has been moved to the 10th of July when I will be 38+5.

Two more lots of monitoring at MAC, Steriods next week then we are all good to go.

Can't believe I am having my baby next Friday!

slightlyconfused85 · 03/07/2015 12:15

Hi all haven't commented for ages but been keeping track! 37 plus 6 today just been to midwife and he or she is 3/5 palp and seems comfortable enough so I don't think they will be coming just yet. Dd1 was born at 40 on the dot so hoping for another timely arrival! Very excited and a bit too hot! Smile

slightlyconfused85 · 03/07/2015 12:19

Ps congrats to all with babies already xxx

MustBeLoopy390 · 03/07/2015 12:50

Congrats to nurse! We've been called in to hosp as fundal height 6cms too big, hosp have basically just looked and re measured apparently it's fine and normal to be measuring so large when baby is at -1 station?!?! They won't do an internal to check for any dilation progress and despite bp and pulse being right up we are waiting for notes to go home. Probably wouldn't be arsed if they hadn't called me in! Still at 3cms as of Wednesday, waters were bulging at appt so hopefully not too much longer now xx

Aretepetite · 03/07/2015 14:25

Congratulations Nursep & welcome to the world Teddy :) He is adorable xx

Sorry to hear your dissapointed Sue you have come so far. As long as you & baby are safe that is the main thing xx

Sending police thoughts Must x

Aretepetite · 03/07/2015 14:26

Oh dear !
Positive thoughts Must x

MustBeLoopy390 · 03/07/2015 14:33

Consultant appt on thurs, scan was done at request of Dr, baby already measuring at 8lbs 4. No concerns however but midwife hasn't signed notes to say discharged, I'm not going back though and I'm contacting pals to put in complaints xx

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/07/2015 14:46

Sue a friend of mine also had a breech with the cord around the neck and everything was absolutely fine. These babies are worrying aren't they but I'm sure if they are worried they will whip the little one out asap. Are you going to be regularly monitored?

SueV14 · 03/07/2015 14:57

purple No, not really as her heart beat was fine and she's moving regularly. I'm supposed to go back next Wed unless I notice any changes in movement or anything, then I should come in for monitoring. Was just having cold watermelon and baby was dancing lambada :)

I'm just wondering if me doing all the exercise trying to make baby turn might make the cord go tighter around her neck..? #worriesoverworries

MuddyWellyNelly · 03/07/2015 17:37

Must you are being very patient. I hope the LO arrives soon for you. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations nurse he looks adorable. Hope you get home soon.

I'm sorry you are still dealing with a breech Sue. I am sure if they were concerned they would have asked you to come in sooner. I don't actually know anything about this, but as babies don't breath in the womb, is cord round the neck a worry before birth? I seem to remember from watching OBEM that they often surreptitiously unwrap the cord before passing up to mum.

Has anyone had CTG monitoring? Had my second one today, all great but the MW casually dropped in that I was having "wee uterine contractions. Can you feel them?". Errr no. When I was lying on the bed I did have very very mild period-like cramps but nothing to write home about. I seem to recall that it's normal to pick these up on a trace by this stage, has anyone else experienced the same? I'm fairly certain if anything it's very pre-early-labour and nothing close to the real thing bag still not packed. I'm 36+3.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

MissTwister · 03/07/2015 18:57

Hi all, I'm 36+1 - is there anyone else on here due right at the end of July? I'm so jealous of everyone here going into labour when I'm still at work!

SueV14 · 03/07/2015 19:14

MissTwister 36+2 here, but baby likely to be delivered via CS at 38 weeks cause been breach for months. Hang in there!

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/07/2015 19:15

Sue I'm no expert but I think Muddy is right in that it is nothing to be concerned about. If anything the fact that you will have a c-section will be less worrying in terms of the cord as they will manage it at birth. Both of my sisters children had the cord round their neck during normal birth and there was momentary concern but they were both absolutely fine. Definitely call if you have reduced movements though.

39 weeks tomorrow here and I am so over this now, I'm sure I'm more uncomfortable than last time and definitely getting more twinges but I don't want baby to make a move before Wednesday!
