I'm sure that muddy and purple are right, sue, a cord round the neck is no biggie right now. My dd was born with hers wrapped round her neck and they just unravelled it in a flash and then (after a quick check due to polyhydramnios) handed her to me. It's quite common I think.

Talking of cords, is anyone else giving birth at a hospital where you can donate your cord blood? There's only ten that do it in the UK and I'm fortunate that mine is one of them. I did it with dd and it was such a great feeling when the nurse told me it was fab blood and would possibly save someone's life.

Sue, my DS was born with the cord around his neck as well and although it was a little worrying for a very short time, he was absolutely fine.

MissTwister · 03/07/2015 19:50

The senior MW at our antenatal course said about 25% of babies have cord around neck and it is very very rarely ever a problem. Don't forget they don't breathe until they're out - at which point if necessary they can just cut it off!

MrsFbabyNo1 · 03/07/2015 20:30

Congratulation Nurse, well done you. He's a little beauty. Hoping you're all snuggled up and recovering well.

Oh must, keep on going. You are a super star. ð???You're definitely amassing a detailed birth story but baby has to come to meet mummy soon!

Sue, lots of good advice and the Dr's will look after you and baby well I'm sure. Lots of hugs for reassurance.

MissT, I'm jealous of all these lovely births now and I'm 38+1, so 2 weeks in front of you but could go 2 over and you could pop tomorrow. That's the exciting bit! Grin But it's sooo nice when you've finished work, that's your next milestone to aim for!

Today I have packed away formal work / winter clothes, and basically created a "breast feeding wardrobe". So many summer dresses with no boob access have been put in spare room wardrobe. But lots of nice summery tops, skirts, trousers, shorts etc still. Thats if boobs don't double in size when milk comes in and they still fit!! Shock

Luckystar82 · 03/07/2015 20:36

NurseP congratulations on the birth of Teddy. He is super cute! Good luck with getting home soon.

I'm feeling tired a lot in the heat, haven't bothered to leave my house today! Going to BBQ tomorrow so will enjoy the weather. I haven't suffered any swelling but bump is getting uncomfortable now and slowing me down. Can't stop napping in the day and not getting much done!

Enjoying Wimbledon - great match earlier Watson v Williams

Luckystar82 · 03/07/2015 20:49

Oh mustbe hope your little one comes soon. You are doing so well, keep going and make sure you get plenty of rest/ hydration/ good nutrition. We are rooting for you!

MissTwister · 03/07/2015 21:41

MrsF finishing next Friday and I can't WAIT! Have been so busy at work.

I haven't even thought about a BF wardrobe, one for mat leave!

charlieis30 · 03/07/2015 22:22

Argh sorry about the massive links

JoY007 · 03/07/2015 23:30

Hello Ladies,

Congratulations NurseP

Sending big hugs your way must

Lovely day with my mum, we had a good browse of the Selfridges sale no purchase Smile, but a lot of walking. Pregnancy brain has really kicked in for me, forgot to pay for parking at the station and remembered 4 hours later Blush

OH just finished massaging my elephant feet, now I have it propped up on my foam roller in bed. Hopefully should help with the swelling. Off to bed and hoping tomorrow is another day for this baby to come out.

Good night ladies, congrats to the new arrivals, all the best to those already in the process, and hoping to hear more arrival news tomorrow.

broodylicious · 04/07/2015 07:38

Morning ladies. So did any of you get woken by the storms last night? It was close by and over us for an hour! Dd was absolutely petrified bless her.

Someone on fb mentioned mamas and papas have tons of bfing outfits in their sale. I'm going to check it out, even though I'm a hoiker upper really but can't pass over a bargain!

MustBeLoopy390 · 04/07/2015 08:46

We had a storm pass over us, my dh, dd and ds all slept through it but baby and I didn't lol, was very entertaining watching him wiggle around to the thunder :) I'm a hoiker upper when it comes to breastfeeding too lol, although I did buy a lovely breastfeeding hoodie off eBay, they do lovely maternity and breastfeeding wear for quite cheap IMO just type 'purpless' into search bar :) only issue I found was the dresses are a little short on me (I'm tall ish and huge bump doesn't help) but nothing a pair of leggings didn't sort xx

MrsFbabyNo1 · 04/07/2015 10:21

broody and must thanks I'll check out sales then!

Ive currently got only one jojo "proper" bf top with the little slits, for discreteness when out n about. My friends told me to get plenty of basic vest tops then layer other top over... so you unclip bra, pull down vest and hoike up a top layered over the vest. Have I got that right? So tummy stays covered, baby gets to boob and upper top is lifted up mainly. That's the kinda hoiking I was thinking of?!

Well unless at home alone I'm not hoiking up an entire summer dress, to show off those lovely granny pants. Shock Hence their relegation to the other wardrobe!

The storm was v bad here too, felt really close. I should have gone down to check on my kitty cat but couldn't be bothered as knew she'd be hiding somewhere in the house! Although the baby was awake and v jiggley during - don't believe in silliness / superstition so prob just coincidental. But hoped he was OK still! Wink

MrsFbabyNo1 · 04/07/2015 10:23

and Charlie for the links too! I like the pink double layered top...

smallgreenbanana · 04/07/2015 10:56

Storm was excitingly overhead here too. I like thunder and lightning so got up to have a peek but DH slept through it until I woke him up. Hope the rain was quite substantial as can't be bothered to water the plants this morning.

Charliej86 · 04/07/2015 11:21

Storm woke me up but was nothing compared to Wednesday's. Still was pleased to have OH next to me for this one even if he wasn't awake.
I've not really thought of bf tops, have 2 bras but I don't know whether to wait and see if he takes to it first. Don't want to waste money.

My brother thinks baby will arrive on Wednesday, that's when they go for their first scan. X

broodylicious · 04/07/2015 11:39

Aah we didn't have any storms until last night so maybe it'd all built up here. Not sure if we are predicted more.

I did go for double layering at first with dd but even in March/April, I found it quite warm so won't be doing that this time. Like with tons of parenting stuff, I think bfing, partic in public, is one of those things that you learn on the job and it just takes practice to get the knack and what works for you. I had some friends who didn't ever want to do it in public, so they were happy to express at home and give it in a bottle when out and about, then others - like me - who just whipped em out anywhere and everywhere once I'd got over the initial shyness.

Oooo just had a hormonal moment. Just broke down crying at OH for no reason. Poor dd walked in saw me and went running back to my mams (they live over the road) worried. Spoke t her when I sorted myself, she thought contractions had started bless her........I wish!!!

smallgreenbanana · 04/07/2015 20:46

LO has dropped a lot and now the bump sticks out a lot. It's happened so quickly the last couple of weeks I'm quite off balance and my poor back and legs are really hurty trying to hold everything together Sad Feeling a bit sorry for myself. Just taken some paracetamol and trying not to feel like a bad mummy!

Aretepetite · 05/07/2015 08:37

Today I'm feeling peeved off! !!

I hope this mood lifts. I've remained positive every day over (mostly). I think it's the constant questions/phone calls that are contributing to getting me down. On top of the hormones....

It's our wedding anniversary today so hopefully take my mind of things when we go for something to eat for a whole 2hours and there is still a chance of an appearance today I suppose.

Constant braxton hicks suck Sad leading nowhere.

Happy Sunday everyone.

5 days over.

Aretepetite · 05/07/2015 08:58

Going to John Lewis for a bit of retail therapy this morning.
I feel a bit better already :)

I need a parasol for the pram so that's on my list.

jmojo · 05/07/2015 12:44
