Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:

Hope so cinnamon, I'd certainly say I've gone from strong BH to mild contractions as I keep getting a bit of an odd pressure sensation down below during the peaks of some. Not really timing them properly yet as some seem very close together like 2mins apart and some are longer so still a bit irregular. Hopefully it will just petter off and it's just a bit of practice.

Currently sat on the ball bouncing, waiting for my chips to cook. (Bit peckish) I swear everyone has cursed me at that party, it was DHs cousins little girl and her little boy is having his party in 2weeks and they were all laughing at me saying I won't be there for his party!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 20:25

I have lots of discomfort in my cervix today which I'm hoping means it's doing something! Had a hot curry last night, sex today and I've bought a pineapple too. Sure it won't work but if I don't try, it definitely won't work!

obeliaboo · 28/03/2015 20:33

TheBooMonster & cinnamongreyhound I know i shouldn't be worrying in all honesty because the midwife in antenatal was absolutely lovely and calm when she explained why they wanted to induce me, i guess its just a natural sort of 'aah, why's he not growing' response more than anything. But he's happy as larry in there, still giving me hell haha, cant wait to meet the little feet that have been my only true form of communication with him Grin
I'll definitely be on my feet, or anything else that means im not stuck on the bed, im more likely to end up curled up on the floor too haha but i think i'm going to have to admit defeat and go for the epidural which i'd hoped not to have just because i really wanted to get into a birthing pool and go as far as i could with that.

Only just started getting BH again in the past two hours which makes a change from the constant ones - how's everyone else?
I haven't even looked at nursing bras... eek.

daholster, same here, IBS already had my poor butt in bits, now baby has just made me grumpy about the added friends back there!

Underwood2013 · 28/03/2015 20:47

HI all, just reading up on the thread, not much to add as had a calm day of a few errands and general pottering about. Trying to get house in some sort of order pre-baby - seems there are piles of 'stuff' everywhere I look... where does it all come from???

Re nursing bras.. I've got some from ds that I'm going to start off with - then see if I need more due to change in size or whatever. I could swear that I was already 'leaking' a bit by this stage with ds and starting to use breast pads but no sign of anything yet this time. (sorry TMI)

Good luck to all those who are having BH / contractions!! Hope they either lead to baby's arrival or ease off so you can get some rest. I've not had any I don't think so I am just convinced that I will make it to the planned C-section date and that's that. [hmmm]

Counting down... 13 days to go...

PenguinPoser · 28/03/2015 20:48

cinnamon you are a legend. Running 5k and sex! Wow. Genuinely not sure when we will DTD again... Obviously once I'm less sore down there I want to but sleep deprived with a baby? Please give me hope that it will happen!

Good luck with bra shopping Firaffe!

I think I'm experiencing my first cluster feeding Confused

AnniaFausta · 28/03/2015 20:53

Thanks for the book recommendations, Cinnamon - anyone else got anything that got them through their first child in one piece or that they found interesting?

LadyNovember · 28/03/2015 20:55

RL..no I'm right there with you..no BHs or any other signs here..just reading along each day, getting increasingly jealous of those having babies/signs/sweeps etc! Only 36+2 though so I have plenty of time!

My MW appt was cancelled yesterday :( think she was sick, so I still don't know if baby has turned or is still breech - i think he's turned, but will hopefully find out for sure on Monday!

DH and I are going for a family day out with his parents and sisters tomorrow - to a nearby wildlife park. I'm totally going to be knackered with all the walking, but FIL has terminal Cancer, so if he soldiers on, the mere pregnant woman must! Grin

Lauren82000 · 28/03/2015 21:02

Obelia- I was induced on the maternity ward and they had a bath in the bathroom. Didn't help me as 2 mins into getting in the bloody thing I threw up in it and continued to retch and vomit my whole labour. (I smelt like sick until it was over and the mw told me to get a shower what felt like 10mins after giving birth. Confused) anyway moral of the story is you could still be able to go in water just not the birthing pool you were after. Wink depends how your hospital does inductions.

RL20 · 28/03/2015 21:03

Hope everyone's had a nice day.
Just had a Chinese but couldn't finish! I know they say you actually don't eat for 2, but I can barely manage a full meal! I think perhaps I snack too much in between meals.

Daholster - looks like I best get practicing my breathing techniques then! Have you been taught anything in particular? The midwife just said to breathe in deeply through the nose and slowly out through the mouth.
RE new car - what sort of compromises are you talking?

Obeliaboo how lovely Smile I can't wait to meet the little feet either! I keep wondering who he's going to look like as me and my other half couldn't really look more different. Or if he's a complete mix, I can't imagine it! Which does make it more exciting Grin.

All this talk of bra's is making me realise I can't wait to take mine off! I would have already but I'm at my mums and haven't got dressed yet.
Had an on/off achey pain just around the top of my ribs where the bra underwire sits. I had it when I woke up so I think I must of slept funny. It sort of feels like the baby is resting on it but I don't think it's that, I remember having it earlier on in my pregnancy and just kept resting hot towels on it!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 21:03

Underwood2013 I leaked from 20 weeks with ds1 and 2 but nothing unless I squeeze it out this time, makes me slightly nervous but I trust in my breasts! Think perhaps they have done it all twice before so are a bit more regulated? I was a 38G wih both boys and a 32DD this time which worries me too. One of my old parents (not sure how to describe ex customers! They moved away so no longer mind her little girl) was probably less than an A cup and successfully bf 4 children so size really doesn't matter.

Yes you will PenguinPoser! It takes some longer than others. We waited 4 weeks after ds1 and 3 after ds2, first time is a bit scary but you've chosen to have a baby with you oh so there's no one you trust more to be gentle with you! I would say just make sure you cuddle lots and the rest will come when you're ready.

Lauren82000 · 28/03/2015 21:07

Perhaps your boobs know what they are doing now Cinnamon and are super efficient which is why they are smaller this time? Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 21:08

X posts everywhere there! Enjoy your day LadyNovember, sit frequently ??, hope they rescheduled soon so you don't have to fret too long!

I can't eat normal portions RL20 either, no space for my stomach!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 21:09

Here smaller this time because I lost 5 1/2st 2 years ago Lauren82000 but I guess the vital stuff is still there just the fat missing!

RL20 · 28/03/2015 21:10

Oops I must have been writing that post for ages, crossed a lot of posts there sorry!

LadyNovember is baby your first? I'm only 36+5 so not far from you! As long as baby is cooking well then he can stay in there until he is ready Smile. I'm looking forward to my next midwife appointment on Wednesday, though. Bump has been measuring behind recently so I'm starting to feel impatient, waiting for the next measurement!

ChickenMe · 28/03/2015 21:15

Aha my DD cluster feeds too Penguin. At night! So demoralising. Sad
I want to DTD but physically not able to due to episiotomy and bruising from forceps. Yeow. Weirdly I feel frisky-I tht bf-ing made you uninterested?!

RL20 · 28/03/2015 21:16

Cross posts again - Cinnamon glad I'm not the only one! I know they say to keep your calories up in the third trimester but I'm the same, I just can't find space for a full meal!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 21:21

I was ChickenMe, probably because I didn't feel like a huge whale anymore, not heard bfing is supposed to make you uninterested. Dh doesn't sleep well and we would sometimes dtd when I got back into bed after feeding ds2 as we were both awake and no one else was! It's very early days for you though!

LadyNovember · 28/03/2015 21:23

Yeah first baby RL20, which makes me think I'll definitely be the last in the thread..! EDD 23/4 but I hear lots go quite far over with DC1..all will be revealed soon I guess. At least we can get excited that we have a maximum of 5 and a bit weeks to go. I still have about 4 seasons of Grey's anatomy to catch up on, so Im fine with waiting a while longer Grin

daholster · 28/03/2015 21:27

No RL I wasn't taught anything special, bit similar what you have been told. Concentrate on the breathing instead of the pain... Gas and air helps with that too because you have to think about clamping your lips on the thingy to breathe it... Oh, and it makes you feel a bit drunk too... I remember feeling miles away!!!

Compromises - Volvo has slightly less comfy ride, but more rolling about in the back... I'd might worry about travel sick kids... But probably overly worrying. Also reviews say some reliability issues (fixable but requiring parts). BMW I had no niggles with at all, nothing I could fault, didn't even notice any worries about the comfort. Price difference would be a few grand.

Both good looking cars and nice inside, decent drive. Both expensive to repair if they break! Bit more work to do on the maths of fuel running costs for each.

Stupidly gave dd a torch to play with before bed to distract her from playing with the antibacterial spray she reached from the drawer (now lives in a cupboard on a high up shelf!) without a fight. Problem is she is now in bed with said torch... Light shows and camping and other such things going on in her room I think! How can a one year old entertain herself so much with such a simple thing?! Silly mummy. Dd is wiiiiiide awake... But very happy... Dh is rolling his eyes at me!

daholster · 28/03/2015 21:29

Oh also though... Volvo in 2.5 months, BMW in 6 months...

londonlivvy · 28/03/2015 21:34

anniafausta you might like "bright baby" by Dr Woolfson. it tells you what they'll be doing each month in different categories (movement, language, hand eye coordination etc etc) and how to stimulate them. I found it v interesting and v accessible. lots of ideas of things to do with your baby.

RL20 · 28/03/2015 21:41

LadyNovember my EDD is 20/4. I'm also half expecting to go over too! I am running out of things to do in the day time though, without trying to spend too much money! I would get a box series but I struggle to watch films in the daytime, no idea why! Have always been the same! I haven't read a book for a few years so maybe I should get a few of those. Although I'm not sure what genre I'm into anymore!

Daholster tricky one! Like you say, perhaps look into a bit more of the long term finance side eg fuel, tax, insurance, most common faults? If theres much difference between the two, that is.
I've heard your lips can become dry whilst having had and air and to take a lip balm or Vaseline so must remember to pack that too!

daholster · 28/03/2015 21:50
