Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:

In our NCT they talked about breathing and counting out more than you count in. It's something i've had at the osteopath too - count in for 5 then out for 7 (Or whatever numbers suit your lung capacity). Also the J breathing someone mentioned earlier is drawing a J in breath on your out breath and try and think about your body doing the same kind of action... All theory at the mo though!

brummagem · 28/03/2015 22:01

Cinnamon and RL I can't do full meals either! Although I've stuffed in a pack of prawns with lemon mayo and a pizza express pizza this evening. Feeling rather gross so had some gaviscon and a big bounce on my new ball. Burping like a trooper!

I can't manage a normal calorie intake let alone squeezing in the extra 300 calories needed. Bump is still above 90th centile so midwife isn't too concerned.

Daholster I'd go with the volvo. I can't stand rwd cars they're so bloody awful in wet and snow even with winter tyres as there's no weight over the wheels. Volvos also pretty bomb proof.

RL20 · 28/03/2015 22:02

Squatting I can't believe I'll be term on Monday, either! It doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago that I was having an early scan at around 7 weeks to see a little bean on the screen! starts to feel teary .

Oh no Daholster are you ok?

Thanks FiRaffe! Will screen shot that comment if that's ok, so that I remember the techniques! Grin

daholster · 28/03/2015 22:17

Just feel horrible! Pain better but nausea, tired, feel bothered and restless legs, bit hot but cold, not sure I want to be in bed but def not up, back feels tight. Just one BH so nothing exciting.

Also have to change bag on belly since has decided to be leaky, is last thing I feel like doing!!! Maybe will just get ready for bed at the same time...

Had ENORMOUS lunch out today with family - 3 big courses (gravadlax then duck - breasts AND leg and potato! - then pistachio soufflé with chocolate ice cream...) so only had 2 Jaffa cakes for tea!!! Probably all serves me right then.

daholster · 28/03/2015 22:18

Doesn't explain headaches ness though Sad

FiRaffe · 28/03/2015 22:33

Lunch sounds good daholster. Sorry if you've got a headache - maybe lack of fluid rather than food?

LadyNovember · 28/03/2015 22:35

Since we're on the subject, my diet today has consisted of frosted shreddies and TWO rodeo burgers from Burger King. Oh the nutrients. Blush

smogsville · 28/03/2015 22:48

Cinnamon I doubt that would be possible without you very definitely knowing it. Good on you I say. I've found im really looking forward to getting into some proper exercise again in a few months' time - when I see people obviously on a really good run I feel a surge of envy! Megalolz for your pineapple. I really fancy one as it happens but don't dare as need baby to stay put until section date.

CaveTroll - without wishing to sound crude, are yours big or small? I couldn't get away without proper nursing bras as my boobs are quite big normally let alone when full of milk but I do hear that normal breasted women have more options.

Lauren - hope you've had a rest?

daholster why does it have to be you doing the painting? Surely DH/ parents could pitch in? Seems a bit unnecessary for the 37 wk pregnant woman to be doing it? Then again unlike cinnamon I really really hate painting. How can a car take 6 months?! Are you getting it in pink with leopard print interior?! You may well be dehydrated ergo headache after a salty restaurant lunch - I find I usually am. Mainline water see if that helps?

Annia I didn't read anything with DD. Just sorted of stumbled along probably making mistakes along the way. I used to take DD to loads of baby classes and read her stories and that was the extent of the stimulation. Will try to do something comparable with this baby but inevitably it won't be to the same extent however I'm counting on interaction with his older sister stepping into the breach.

Lady good luck on the fam day tomorrow, don't overdo it though.

Agree with cinnamon re feeding and boob size not being an issue in fact apparently smaller ones can be less painful for the mum as baby latches on more easily as it doesn't have to find its way around an enormous nipple region (like my poor DD would have had to).

DD is in her new room tonight complete with new and rather enormous wardrobe and proper bookcase. Thus far she is absolutely over the moon and v excited about it. Obviously assembling the stuff took far longer than anticipated so tomorrow DH will bash some nails into the walls for her pictures from old room, hooks for bits and bobs and get her dolls house down from the loft. Hopefully now she's a bit older she will be more gentle with it - my mum got it for her when she was two and being quite a rambunctious sort she basically started tearing it to shreds rather than playing with it carefully so we decided to put it away and then bring it out again as a sort of consolation/ preparation for no longer being sole queen bee.

Right sleep now as we are tragically all losing an hour overnight! Whose crap idea was that...

daholster · 28/03/2015 23:12

smogs I want dh to have some dd time given that he's away so much - and he's desperate for it too. She is at an age where she really plays with him but when he's away it sort of drifts out of her head. The more he puts into it at the weekends it seems the bigger the cuddle he gets when he arrives home Smile It's me prioritising the room, he thinks it's an unnecessary rush (sort of, though paint fumes + newborn = bad idea to me) and he hates painting more than me! I'd quite like the satisfaction. Preparing the walls and woodwork is a pain in the arse though. Will spend time sanding down the woodwork and polyfilla before starting... Parents were here today but we didn't get enough done to actually start painting (mainly because lunch was long and partly because dd had an epic nap afterwards so we couldn't make much noise prepping the room!) they live 1hr 15 away and so one day of travel across at the weekend is enough when we want some time as a 3 too. And dad is back on Monday to help with dd again!!!

Fluids is a good thought people. Big glass of water at the ready. Think I'm just knackered (so why aren't I sleeping?!) - I wake around 03.30, empty my bag then toss and turn til morning with painful hips. Sometimes they wake me every 30-45mins even before my 03.30 wake up. I'm just a bit exhausted... I've had one good night's sleep this week where I only woke once... And that was at 06.20, I was so pleased!!!

brummagem we would be getting a 4 wheel drive X3. Yes fuel and parts concern me... Likely the case for both though, not finished the maths yet... Our Volvo dealership offered £5000 off!!!! Going to ask BMW how they could match that... Thinking they don't need to though and probably just wont! Still, if you don't ask...

Bit of online browsing (will try zulily) and water sipping and see if I drop off...

brummagem · 29/03/2015 03:09

Oooh daholster I share that hip feeling. Sometimes think wingardium leviosa is the only way to relieve it! I've not had to buy paint in years don't they do odourless stuff to help not gas your LO?

We had to use some spray varnish at work. Was most upset they stopped me from using it as it smells lush but probably best not to give birth to an aerosol addict Grin

Paying price of dinner now. Have consumed Greek national debt in cost of gaviscon.
Much acid. Such indigestion.

Chococroc · 29/03/2015 03:37

Just a quick update from me, my baby didn't fancy waiting for April either! Born at 36 weeks following an induction as he had more or less stopped growing. Unfortunately this ended in a very quick emergency C Section due to his heart rate causing some concern. He is on NICU for the time being but doing well, hopefully can have him on the ward with me soon, very odd feeling being on a post-natal ward without your baby.
Feeling pretty sore from the c section, but I do have far more movement than I expected.
Still a bit shell shocked from the suddenness and scariness from it becoming an emergency situation, but so happy to have him here!

PenguinPoser · 29/03/2015 05:21

Congratulations chococroc! Hope it's not long until he is back with you on the ward. Sorry it ended up being an emcs that's bound to be a scary experience. But he's arrived safely which is the main thing!

FiRaffe · 29/03/2015 08:26

Congratulations - he is a cutie, the picture on Facebook is lovely. Hopefully you'll be back together soon!

Lauren82000 · 29/03/2015 08:26

Congrats Chococroc. We shared a due date I think.

Smogs everything settled after about an hour in bed and got a great nights sleep. I only got up for the loo once Smile and DD stayed in her bed all night. I was amazed and gave her big cuddles this morning to reinforce the good behaviour. Wink DH just said I'd have to take her to a party everyday as it appears to knock her out.

smogsville · 29/03/2015 08:28

fair enough daholster, do be careful though and good luck. Wouldn't worry about fumes assuming paint water based and in any case newborn likely to be in your room at the beginning.

Torn between being cross at the vile weather and pleased as it's helping our newish turf to bed in. I am definitely ageing prematurely - got excited the other day when I saw a blackbird pulling worms out of the lawn as this presumably means the grass/ soil have bonded well (I need to get a life).

Congratulations Chococroc, baby's in the right place, hope you get to go home soon.

LadyNovember · 29/03/2015 08:39

Congratulations Chococroc! Sorry to hear it ended in an emcs but glad your LO is here safely.

BrixtonBunny · 29/03/2015 08:41

Smogs your blackbird story is v sweet. Don't even get me started on the state of our garden - it's simply not been a priority. Hoping that I can persuade some friends to help out in a couple of months when baby is here and do some pottering in the summer, but think we're going to miss the boat for much planting. I want to dig in a veg patch and put in some raised borders etc - it's currently just a grubby, patchy lawn which is regularly visited by a huge and bold fox Hmm

On a soppier note though I've realised that a pair of wood pidgeons seem to have made the gardens their own. They are often necking and "bird kissing" which I have taken as a good sign that we've bought this house. Pregnancy soppy hormones galore...

We've got five friends over for lunch today. Thank goodness they have less strict dietary requirements than our families last week! Might even bake a cake...

38+4

BrixtonBunny · 29/03/2015 08:42

Congrats choco! Hope that your DS is able to join you on post-natal soon, he's gorgeous Smile

LadyNovember · 29/03/2015 08:44

Could someone add me to the facebook group pretty please? I want to see cute baby pictures!

BrixtonBunny · 29/03/2015 08:49

Lady I can try! PM me your name on Facebook and I'll try and friend you then add you.

RL20 · 29/03/2015 08:59

Omg I had a dream in the night that I was holding baby who was probably around 6 months old, standing him on the windowsill showing him outside etc. It felt so real!!Shock
Also had a dream that I was in a room in labour (although barely any pain or anything) and was trying to work out the gas and air thing on my own, which also had a water dispenser on it. Was all very odd!

Congratulations Chococroc! Glad to hear you and baby are doing well!

We have 2 more days left of this month now, I wonder if there will be any more March babies? There can't be many of us ladies left that are pregnant!

Brixton your little pigeon story is lovely! Smile
I think when you've got a garden you really take it for granted, we've been in the flat for 4 years this year and really miss having a garden. As we are only first floor we often stand at the window and just enviously look down into downstairs garden which probably looks a bit odd! There is a huge bush and tree that lots of different birds have nests in, so we hung a bird feeder outside of our window which they all seem to love. Anyway...

Hope you feel better this morning Daholster Brew
I've been getting restless legs too which make me feel hot and bothered and unsure of what to do with myself!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/03/2015 09:08

Eek, we need a new thread soon!!

Congratulations chococroc! Sorry it was an emcs but glad you're bith ok. Hoping he's with you very soon.

We've saved all our stuff and sorted more yesterday for the first car boot of the season and its pouring!!! Can't really leave it as the boys room is full of bags and boxes but can't imagine many people out buying in the poxy rain Angry

LadyNovember · 29/03/2015 09:08

Thanks Brixton, I've done that. :)

Does anyone else get ridiculously hot in the night? I've been a bit ill with a cold for a couple of weeks so not sure if its that's or the pregnancy, but I keep waking up literally dripping in sweat..have to strip to my pants and shed the quilt! So not like me. Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 29/03/2015 09:10

Yes I have done LadyNovember, a few nights I've woken literally dripping. I remember it being worse after ds1&2 were born though. I don't wear anything in bed, plus our hearing goes off at night and it still happens just hormones I guess!

RL20 · 29/03/2015 09:19

Yep another one here Lady and Cinnamon. And like you it's very unlike me, usually I'm all wrapped up and feel the cold a lot! In bed now I feel like I have to stick my leg out to get some air under the quilt! I also sleep with nothing on and still wake up with a sweaty back (I never used to sweat!) and also have to tie my hair up too as when it's down in bed it makes my neck hot.
I've noticed I'm the same outside now too whereas normally like I say I'm really cold. I haven't worn my coat for the past few weeks as it feels bulky and irritates me! So a cardigan has been just fine
