Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Ah don't panic obelia how exciting another march baby coming!

Agree with Chicken about the batch cooking I just wish I had done more now. It's well worth it to get a good meal.

Hope everyone's aches and pains settle down a bit.

Have just been out to upgrade my phone! Worried now on the way home as DDs feed is now late and I'm panicking about getting home and feeding her. Though she is snoozing in the car seat still so seems ok. She's so tiny I just don't want her to miss any food!

skyra13 · 28/03/2015 13:10

obeliaboo It is good they are starting you off at least you are getting the best care I was admitted at 38+4 due to high bp am now home but have had a sweep! So am in similar situation to you and this is my first also!

At least little one is still averaging out on size, My bump is measuring at 41 weeks at last midwife appointment so dear god hope she wont be massive! I am due another sweep Monday but if nothing happens I will be induced to, but i have had a bit of a show this morning. Maybe things will get morving for you over the weekend :)

FiRaffe · 28/03/2015 13:16

Hope all those of you who are getting things moving and having sweeps are all okay. Starting to wonder if this one will make it to 40 weeks, definitely the bump is lower than it was and head measurements were really difficult at the scan so head is rooted down.

I haven't seen a specific due date for the dutchess of Cambridge, just middle to end of April.

RL20 · 28/03/2015 13:18

Obeliaboo good luck and try not to panic! Easier said than done though I'm sure. You have all of us on here to talk to if you need us! Also my first and have been in for reduced movements 3 times, bump is measuring small and baby is measuring around average from the growth scan. So will see what they say to me at my midwife app this coming Wednesday!
You are classed as term now so wishing you all the best!

RL20 · 28/03/2015 13:21

Oh and RE Kate Middleton - also not heard a due date. Believe the spokesperson has just said 'mid to late' April

ChickenMe · 28/03/2015 13:34

Good luck obelia. If they're inducing you you will have a lot of monitoring and they will look after you.

Wow Squatting! I can't believe how many of us are starting to get more regular BH's/contractions etc. and then there's me over here with no BH's or anything!? I'm definitely going to be talking to myself on this thread throughout my labour

TheBooMonster · 28/03/2015 14:29

obelliaboo I was induced with both my girls, first stopped growing and second was just a bit small but with the speed of my first labour they decided it would be a good idea to have me in hospital when I went into labour. Get them to talk you through the process before they start, knowing what's going to happen will help a little with staying calm and the calmer you are the less scared you will be and that will help with the pain. Keep on your feet on a birthing ball or otherwise upright for as long as you can as that will help things along, they'll have you on the bed for regular monitoring but the worst thing you can do is stay on the bed when you're not strapped to the monitor as you'll likely get a lot of pain with little effect. Get your DP practicing lower back massages, they'll help with the pain during contractions if you can stand being touched. There is no way of knowing how long the process will take, I was pretty quick but my Hypermobility means I have crappy collagen so things stretch far easier than they should. Prepare yourself for the fact it might take days to get started, have snacks and books on hand. Induced labours are intense, remember to breath slow and deep during contractions and take the pain relief they offer you.

Cinnamon another one who can't believe you're still running, from my POV anyone who can run without weeing everywhere has a very impressive natural pelvic floor! Mine has always been a bit crap though (hence sections) so perhaps I'm ill-placed to judge. I bet you'll recover very quickly from birth as you're already very physical and active in your job too.

Chicken I'm glad I did my batch cooking ages ago as I have quite short arms and now bump is too big for me to be able to stand at kitchen work surface chopping for any period of time!

Obelia at my growth scan on thurs - 36+1 - mine was only estimated to weigh around 5.10 or so, so if he came out at 37 wks he wouldn't be big at all. Perhaps yours has just got to his right size? My friend's came two wks early at 8.9 so had probably grown enough in the womb.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 15:00

I can see why it's worrying obeliaboo but if they are doing it Monday it sounds like it's for the right reasons and some people respond very well to induction. Try to keep as active as you can, I did lots of walking around with both my inductions and both went well.

skyra13, SquattingNeville and Sairie all sounds like something is happening even if it's just pushing baby down and getting it all ready!

Just went to have a hot cross bun, offered everyone else one and they all said yes, there are only 3 left so littlies shared one, ds's and Dh had other two and I had a slice of soreen, nice but not the same!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 15:04

Hoping I haven't buggered it by running while pregnant smogsville but I figure it must be ok for me to not wet myself ever. There are many medical professionals who believe any impact sport particularly running should stop for pregnancy for the sake of the pelvic floor. They even say that instrument delivery is more likely because the pelvic floor is weakened and you're then unable to push baby out and that is always in the back of my mind!

Hidingthefear · 28/03/2015 16:06

Well done on the running cinamon Ivery never been that active but I'm just about managing to take the dog on an hours walk. Back and pelvis ache by the time I'm home but now I'm in the bath relaxing.
I've got my "tater ash" with steak and kidney slowly cooking away and make extra so I can freeze some and the to oz hopefully do a Leek and potatoes soup. Waiting for my free able microwaveable food bags to arrive. They take up less space that tupperware boxes and they were cheaper online than in the pound shop. Then I can do some more batch cooking.
I started to get hemorrhoids and got some cream but haven't used it yet as it cleared up itself. Basically my hypnobirthing teacher said to practise my "birth breathing" or "j breathjng" every time I went to the loo and it worked! ! I was suprised but hopefully I can stick to it once baby is on the way out. It's also supposed to reduce chance of tearing and shortens the time it takes to get baby out fully.

FiRaffe · 28/03/2015 17:26

I keep worrying about that Hiding, actually doing the breathing I practise when baby is on it's way...guess we'll find out soon enough!

Cinnamon your running is amazing - as long as you feel good i'm sure your pelvic floor is fine! also bad about the hot cross Buns, as you say Soreen is nice but not the same!

RL20 · 28/03/2015 17:29

Have been reading along today but not posted much as a very uneventful day!
Other half is still away until tomorrow so have spent the day at my mums, sat on my phone on mumsnet looking through the active threads etc, and generally browsing the internet Hmm.
Haven't been bothered to do any shopping or anything (not that I really have the spare cash to, anyway! Just a way to pass time). So haven't bothered to put my face on today!
Have been really into a new Portuguese pastry that the bakery have been making at the Co-Op - they are identical to those tarts you get at Nando's. My mum nipped to the co-op for me earlier on (with my card and in my car though, I'll add!) and I asked her to get 3 for me. I've are them already! Oops.

One productive thing ticked off today was moving the changing station from here to home, earlier on.

Hiding - do you mean that the breathing techniques help with the tearing? Or have I read that wrong?

Cinnamon - I think we're all taking our hats off to you for running!
People keep telling me to remember to stay active towards the due date. So although I can't quite manage a run I do want to try and go for walks.

How are all of those that have been having BH's/contractions etc?

RL20 · 28/03/2015 17:31

*ate them already. (Or should that be eaten?! I don't know)

AnniaFausta · 28/03/2015 17:50

BiL duly seen off, after inspection of the house and a nice lunch. Feeling quite a lot better now we've done that and also told him that I expect him to Skype with his new nephew or niece!

I'm starting to think a bit beyond labour... and into the first few months of baby development. A friend has leant me a brilliant book on breast feeding (it is called The Food Of Love and makes me feel pretty cheerful about being able to get around most problems that might arise), but I have no idea abut infant development. There is a 'What To Expect In The First Year' to follow 'What To Expect When You're Expecting', but I was wondering whether anybody could recommend something that talks about that first year or so in developmental/activity/encouragement terms rather than 'here is a routine to try to get them to sleep or eat' terms.

Wineandchoccy · 28/03/2015 18:48

I've been and bought my nursing bras today, not sure if all mothercares have them but the sleep/crop style bras in a pack of 2 are £8 reduced from £24.
I also bought a mirror to fit on the headrest so that I can see baby when he or she is the car seat.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 28/03/2015 18:54

I still need to buy nursing bras- I keep forgetting when to get them. I'm 36+ 2 but induction will be at 39weeks.
I could always just get the night time ones.
Any advice?

Lauren82000 · 28/03/2015 19:25

Really busy day for me today. Swimming this morning, visit to my grandpas and then a birthday party with DD. I did pretty well and stayed standing for about an hour and a half before I sat down. Now I'm getting loads of strong BH that are pretty close together and back ache. Confused Typical as DH was having a drink before I got in so he is basically useless now. Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 19:32

I'm really surprised how much nursing bras have improved since I had ds2 IveGotACaveTroll! With ds1 I bought some but found them very uncomfortable and ended up buying much softer ones for the first 6-8weeks (went out on day 5 when milk came in to buy them because I was so uncomfortable and I was convinced I was wearing the wrong size). So I would say don't get too many until you see what suits you once baby is here. I wore breast pads all the time so didn't feel they needed to be washed every day and would wash during the evening and dry overnight. Mothercare had a good selection but I then bought underwired ones on line as they are hard to get hold of im shops I found.

I had this with ds1 AnniaFausta and this with ds2, recommend both for different reasons :)

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 19:34

I'm babysitting tonight Lauren82000 and the parents announced they're more than an hour away and Dh was on his second can when I left! Let's hope I don't get any twinges tonight Grin. Perhaps being busy is just making your uterus a bit twitchy rather than anything more.

daholster · 28/03/2015 19:40

Hi everyone. Good luck for contracting/showing people!

I have evil rather impressive haemorrhoids too. My butt was already a mess. The pressure from the baby just make it worse! Oh well.

RL yes careful breathing the baby out reduces tears - high speed high pressure down the birth canal is more likely to cause tears as opposed to steady gentle progress allowing time for vagina and skin to stretch. Shock

Looked at the last car today. Got it down to two. Now for the hard bit... Small compromises and save money or spend a few grand more...?

Prepared the walls for painting but nothing more. Realised the house it a complete state full of stuff everywhere, what a mess, every room. I can't ignore it, just wish I had more time to myself to do it (along with energy!) - on Monday dad is coming and I am going to arm myself with bin bags and get chucking stuff!!! I'm done with it all. Even if I exhaust myself I don't care, I want a beautiful house!

Tomorrow we will swim as a family then I am going to paint his room. I AM!!! While dd and dh have a much needed daddy and daughter afternoon Smile

37+4

FiRaffe · 28/03/2015 19:43

I have still got to face the fun of nursing bras too, but in a 38f now so god knows what size and need support of under wiring too so that'll be fun!

Hope you don't get twinges cinnamon - maybe your DH needs to be aware the parents are far away and if something happens he needs to be in a state to help!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 20:04

He very firmly believes I will be induced on 7th FiRaffe and nothing will happen in the mean time, nothing is going to change his mind after having two induced at 13 days over Shock

Be careful you don't do too much again daholster but good luck with your painting, I LOVE painting Grin
