Congrats mummy and jenny on your girl babies and great scans. Mummy it sounds so uncomfortable you poor thing.

Had a terrible day yesterday. DH took our lovely placid rough collie out for a walk and she was attacked by three staff dogs that jumped out the window of a house to get to her. She's got a cut mouth and some puncture wounds to her neck, but the vet said her thick coat saved her life. The police are involved and are coming tomorrow to get a statement from a still very shaken up DH. It's happened before too, So I'm hoping the dogs are dealt with this time. V v scary Sad

Tranquilitybaby · 26/01/2015 23:52

Sunbathing it's a low lying placenta that can cause issues, but even then, I'm not sure if it's anterior one this applies to also.

Tranquilitybaby · 26/01/2015 23:54

To add as well, I had a low lying placenta with both my pregnancies, but it moved out of the way by 36 weeks.

Bless you, thank you sunbathing. Just got hope the police act of their own accord, but yesterday they were asking if we wanted to prosecute and go to court. It's a stress we could do without at the minute.

jamakatab · 27/01/2015 02:28

It's almost half past three in the afternoon in New Zealand and my daughter has just returned from her 20 week scan. The baby is healthy, the placenta is moving up and, like the other babies due on June 14th, it's a GIRL!!
I'm on cloud nine and could no more sleep than I can fly to the moon. Grin

ots · 27/01/2015 05:44

So pleased Jamakatab, I know how worried you were Flowers

And a little girl, she is evening out our pink team from afar Grin

Jackiebrambles · 27/01/2015 08:30

Morning all, thanks for all your kind words about my Nana x

Tranquility I’m so sorry about your poor dog! Bloody awful dog owners. I hope she’s ok.

Sunbathing the others are right, low lying anterior placenta (like mine!) can be a worry because it can get in the way of babies exit! Plus they do need to know for c-section purposes because maybe it depends where they cut?

That’s why they are keeping an eye on mine to see if it moves up, apparently over 90% of them do as the baby grows though. I don’t think a high one will move though, although definitely worth asking at your next appointment.

Orville82 · 27/01/2015 08:32

Ah that's lovely news Jam. What a relief to finally have some news that you can relax & smile with Grin

ChatEnOeuf · 27/01/2015 09:01

What a relief Jama :)

Pas my DD was transverse with her bottom down until 33 weeks - plenty of time and space yet.

They don't really care where placentas are unless they are low/low anterior in which case they might be a pain around delivery. Many will move up and the uterus stretches. Mines fundal, so I expect it's staying there :)

Have we more scans today? Good luck if so.

PregnantAndEngaged · 27/01/2015 09:15

Hey all.. goodness we must be chatterboxes! :)

I had a lovely weekend. On Friday I took my fiance to London for his birthday and we went to Harrods and Hamleys! From Harrods we got 2 harrods bears (baby can't cuddle them because they're for 3 years old but I thought it would be a nice bedroom/shelf decoration), and then from Hamleys I got a baby comforter with an elephant toy attached to it, and a soft colourful musical lion toy. So cute! :)

Also went to my fiance's parent's house whose house is acting as a storage facility for all of our baby stuff at the moment! :p

I tested our new travel system which is awesome, I'm really pleased with it. Although it comes with a car seat, we have got another one which is actually better but doesn't seem suitable for a newborn (even though it says it is) as it is a bit on the large side, so will use the one that came with the pram first and then switch to the other car seat when the baby is 6 months or so. In my view a car seat is a car seat and a pram is a pram so for maximum comfort and safety I did want to go for a car seat by an actual car seat manufacturer, hence I now have two car seats haha!

I've also got a natural breastfeeding kit which I'm really chuffed with. Bargain price in the January sale of £75. Included breast pump, 8 bottles, electric steam steriliser and soothers.

Feeling super organised for this baby's arrival now, with all the other stuff we already have too! :) Yaaay

PregnantAndEngaged · 27/01/2015 09:20

Oh goodness, Tranquility. I've only just read what happened. That's awful :( Hope your dog is OK, I'm really glad that your dog is still alive. Poor mite! Those other dogs should be destroyed (as should their owners in my opinion but hey ho, the law doesn't agree...) as they are dangerous!

cuphat · 27/01/2015 09:30

Brilliant news Jama, I'm so glad that all is well.

Your poor dog tranquility, I hope she's ok.

Chookford · 27/01/2015 09:44

tranquility am so sorry to hear about your dog, but very glad to hear she is ok!!

jama massive congrats, must be such a relief!!

Ladies I think I have thrush... I've never had it before but pretty sure that's what it is, I have to drop a urine sample off at my docs this afternoon for them to confirm if it is.....is it just canesten I can take?!

PregnantAndEngaged · 27/01/2015 10:10

Chookford it's likely to be thrush if you have a thick cottage cheese-like discharge and it's very itchy. I haven't had it for years but it is awful so I feel your pain.. not sure if you can take cannesten while pregnant so I'd check with a midwife/doctor first :)

htf2 · 27/01/2015 10:15

I will go back to my vitamins - just need some willpower really! 5childrenandit how rude! and completely fair to be cheesed off. I would have complained but that's me :)
Question - I doubt there's much anyone can say but I'm unlikely to get to the GP for a couple of days so thought I'd try.Yesterday I discovered some sensitive lumps in my groin, like little marbles really. Dr google says probably a hernia(yay!) , happens in pregnancy and doctors won't do anything... any recommendations against my plan which is get to the doctors in a few days when I can -they aren't bothering me that much? Midwife said see GP. I guess the days when I thought I was too young and healthy to get things like hernias are over... sigh.

Chookford · 27/01/2015 10:22

pregnant thanks yes have itching and increase in discharge thickness and everything feels a bit sore and swollen I feel terrible I have passed it to my dh who is suffering! (We have both only just come out with symptoms) so if it is confirmed he will need to be treated too Blush

htf I would do the same to be honest, if they are not bothering you at all and you are planning to see the doc as soon as you can then that should be fine.

ClearlyOpaque · 27/01/2015 11:21

I've had thrush a few times already and it's so annoying! I treated it with a pessary (such bliss, as it relieves the itching so quickly) and the cream. OH also uses the cream to keep it at bay. Speak to your GP about it, but creams and pessary are safe to use (some people don't use the applicator, just their fingers, to avoid disturbing anything)

PregnantAndEngaged · 27/01/2015 11:27

htf2, not sure if I read the question right. Do you mean do we recommend that you don't go to the doctors or do we recommend that you're OK to wait a few days? If the first, I'd go to a doctor just in case it isn't a hernia; it's not worth the risk in pregnancy. But if the second, as it's not causing you pain, a couple of days waiting would probably be fine. But if it does start causing you pain at any point, try to get an emergency appointment.

Oh dear Chookford, well I hope you can both get some comfort soon!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 27/01/2015 11:53

Tranquillity - your poor dog. I hope she's okay and not too shaken up. same for your oh.

lots of little pregnancy niggles seem to be surfacing for people. Sad

Mummymog - I couldn't help but chuckle about the songographer not being able to find your uterus and immediately felt bad. Hope docs can help you.

Chookford · 27/01/2015 12:20

Thanks clearly and pregnant will wait for the call from my gp later this afternoon to confirm if it is or not then will go and get some cream and pressarys me thinks!!

fortywinx · 27/01/2015 12:35

Tranquility Oh your poor doggy. Bad pet owners are a personal hate of mine. Angry

Sunbathing I think a high anterior placenta is better than a low anterior, which can cause problems with baby's exit and CS, but no idea if it's better or worse than a posterior or lateral. I know that an anterior placenta can make it harder to feel the baby's movements throughout the pregnancy.

Chookford I've had this several times since I've been pregnant. It's very annoying and can get quite sore if not treated. I mostly just use the cream but I think the pessary is okay to use in pregnancy too.

htf2 I've stopped taking my vitamins. I managed it for three months, but I'm not one for taking vitamins anyway and I'm pretty sure they were making my constipation worse. I'd definitely try to get a GP appointment in case the lumps are not what you think!

PregnantandEngaged I saw that set and really wanted to get it as it was a bargain considering the pump alone is usually £115! Unfortunately it had sold out by the time I went back to buy in the evening XD
