I'm not sure what this 'exercise' is that you speak of - it doesn't sound like something I've been doing much of!

DH will pretty much finishes end of May/early June until September. He will have to do some work from home and go in to work every now and then for meetings and things, but mostly we couldn't have timed it better if we tried so we're pretty lucky on that score, not even taking paternity leave into account.

I can't believe we're this far along already. It feels like the pee has barely dried on the sticks, and yet here we are - 20 week scans all over the place.

I've got mine this Thursday. I'm not sure what the deal is as this time round I'm going to have to have extra checks on his heart, but they haven't said if they'll be doing it at this scan or not. Who's still left to have theirs?

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 25/01/2015 22:12

impatience my 20week scan not until 10th feb, but we had private scan two weeks ago so we already know she's a girl.
Speaking of antenatal yoga/Pilates DVDs etc, I ve never done yoga or Pilates before so does that mean it's not advisable for me to try now.

newbie6 · 25/01/2015 22:44

Good luck to all those with scans coming up this week and next! X

mummymog · 25/01/2015 23:04

Sorry i've not been about. Been popping in and out. I'm the one with the twins in the my belly (or one of the mums with twins in my belly should I say). Really feeling the weight of the bump this week. Had an awful traumatic horrible evening- Rectal prolapse. :'( Had to go wake up my OH and be like 'my bums come out of my bum' so sore. At least it's our second pregnancy- so he's already seen the worst of me, think if I was still trying to pretend to be a glamourous lady I wouldn't have been like 'look at my prolapse for me'

Worst thing is- I still really really need a poo. Stupid pregnancy constipation- stupid first pregnancy weakening my muscles- stupid arsehole. I feel so sore- dreading delivery- and the trip to the doctors tomorrow- and what I imagine is the rest of my life on laxitives.

:'(

mummymog · 25/01/2015 23:05

Btw- our twins are girls :D

Emz1989 · 25/01/2015 23:10

Oh mummymog congrats on the 2 girls!! Sorry to hear about the prolapse... One thing I soon learned (probably about week 13 when I woke up one morning with an allergic reaction from an eyebrow wax and the leftover blood from an overnight nosebleed all over my face...) is that dh is certainly going to see me at my worst over the next few months! My overly hairy tummy is the latest source of his amusement!!
I too have just ordered myself the Erin DVD and located a local Aqua natal class which I'll start this week if I can!

Glad to c u back mummymog, and yay on the 2 girlies... Not so yay on the prolapseShock
We have added 4 girls into the mix over the weekend (one tbc in traceybaybees tummy) so our numbers finish on
Boys - 24
Girls 18
Secrets - 11
Good luck with all of this weeks scans, only 15 more days and i think all the 20 week scans will be complete (unless theres any after 10th feb)

ememsmum · 26/01/2015 06:43

Elizabeth the pilates dvd I mentioned is definitely suitable for a beginner. She explains really well the need to pull your tummy in etc and the pace is fairly slow. I have weak side bum muscles so I did find some parts quite challenging but I just took a rest when I needed to.

mummymog I hope your bum gets better soon Flowers

Tryingreallyhard84 · 26/01/2015 07:38

mummy - hope you feel better soon! not nice at anytime but being pregnant makes it worse. Sad

I've got my scan thurs as well. Got plenty going on at work to keep me occupied.

have a lovely Monday morning. put on those happy Monday grimaces, I mean, smiles.

Phryn · 26/01/2015 07:57

Marking my place on the new thread.

Thanks for the DVD reccomendations. I really want to get something I can do at home and had heard positive things about the davina pregnancy one (especially in later pregnancy) but will check out the Erin one - sounds good.

I've done pilates for a few years and had a break in my first trimester at their reccomendation while the pregnancy established itself well. I find the classes really helpful and go to a small group session using pilates equipment rather than a larger mat work class. It's more expensive but I think I get a better workout. The most important thing - mat work or pilates equipment is to speak to the instructor and ensure they tailor it to your body's strengths and weaknesses and how far along you are in pregnancy. If they do that you can be an absolute beginner and be fine! Maybe ask mates if they can reccomended a place in your area? (I know good places in Brighton and Bristol!)

fortywinx · 26/01/2015 08:27

I started pregnancy yoga last week. Complete beginner. Was pretty good although I certainly felt it the next day as I hobbled around XD

Not really one for exercise but thought it'd be good to do something now as I used to at least go for a 30-45 minute walk with the dog every day at least.

mummymog Hope you feel better soon. This pregnancy business is soooo glamourous. My OH was slightly horrified when he went on my tablet to discover a tab open about piles in pregnancy XD

Orville82 · 26/01/2015 08:28

My scan's not until the 11th Feb. WAAAAAAHHHHHH!

That is all.

bubalou · 26/01/2015 08:39

Mummymog feel better soon and congratulations on your girls! Smile

Has anyone else experienced the whole sensitive skin thing? I'm usually ok but at the moment every cream, wash, moisturiser, even baby wipes seem to sting my skin. It's also dry and lizard like no matter how much I'm drinking!!!

I use good products too that don't contain too many chemicals etc. recommendations welcome though if people have had similar. Wink

htf2 · 26/01/2015 08:54

orville that is a completely appropriate response! That's how I feel about every part of it really - my baby isn't due for another x months Waaaah!

should I still be taking my vitamins? I have totlaly slacked off, much like my approach to the rest of our life.

mummie that sounds awful . I hope you pikc up a bit soon.

cuphat · 26/01/2015 09:17

Erin DVD is cheesy but you can't have it all! I have the Davina one too but I found it far too easy last time, it didn't feel like I'd done anything so I haven't used it yet this time. I think it is better for much later on.

That sounds horrible mummymog. And congrats!

I'm still taking Pregnacare but I don't think you have to. I normally take vitamins anyway so I'm taking these as they're safer. I take them while ttc, during pregnancy and breastfeeding (so have already been taking them for over 2 1/2 years!).

comeagainforbigfudge · 26/01/2015 09:39

Me bubalou mainly my hands because I need to wash them a gazillion times a day in work.

Yesterday they were red raw! And using alcohol hand gel is the pits cause they sting like buggary. Got a couple of days off so lathering on hand cream but I see a trip to occ health in my near future for the special hand balm.

Meantime drinking loads of water as well Grin

Htf2 when my consultant told me I didn't need to take folic acid (super strength) anymore she also said I didn't need to take multi vits if diet good. It's still not great so I take a multi vit every few days. A Berroca style one. Think mine is from tescos this time. I figure that is enough and body pees out what it doesn't need. Although I need to start being better at taking vit d.

speedbird17 · 26/01/2015 09:39

Ooh Phryn, Pilates class recommendations for Bristol are much appreciated!!

On the dry skin front - mine is so bad I have been prescribed a Urea 10% cream to use, which is beautiful and moisturises my dragon scales wonderfully!

I need to have a little moan, and DH has had enough of that so hope you ladies don't mind if I vent here!! One of my closest friends from Denmark has surprised me with a belated birthday visit (DH knew etc), which is utterly lovely and it's great to see her (and her boyfriend). However I know IABU, but every single little thing they do is annoying me!! I am sure it is just that I am tired because I feel I have to stay up late with them and then be up with DD whilst they lie in for 2 more hours but it is driving me loopy. I am working from home and have very politely encouraged them to go out today and have a mooch and explore around Bath, as her bf has never been. The little things are driving me crazy though, we live in a smallish village just South of Bristol and Bath with one co-op that is open every day and a few various bakeries/cafés/random shops that only open Mon-Sat. Yesterday they announced at 3pm, an hour before the co-op shut that they were going to go and find some Rye bread as our English 'sweet' bread was making them feel unwell due to amount of sugar in it ... I had bought in a bakery wholemeal loaf and a French baguette to dip in the fondue. Said to them 'ooh, most likely not going to have that in co-op can we get you some from posh fancy expensive artisan bakery tomorrow?' they just said 'oh don't worry sure we'll find some' and pooled off. No worries, they then come back with no blimmin' rye bread but 4 litres of Dr Pepper and 6 energy drinks(!!!) since they arrived at 10pm on Friday evening, friend has drunk 4 small and 2 large energy drinks, and whilst DH and I had a cup of tea last night, they each polished off a 2l bottle of Dr Pepper.

I'm just annoyed they made a fuss about the bread I guess and then bought loads of fizzy drinks.

Sorry that was a bit longer than I meant it to be, but I'm glad to have got it off my chest. I feel v ungrateful as they have come to see me from Denmark, but I am going to blame the rage on pregnancy hormones, and keep smiling sweetly!!

Chookford · 26/01/2015 09:57

mummy congrats on your two girls! That helps even out all these boys! Smile sorry to hear about your bum though... Pregnancy really strips you of all dignity doesn't it!

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week!

JennyOfOldstones · 26/01/2015 10:15

Had my repeat scan today and all the measurements are fine. We are having a little girl! Should help to even up the numbers!

Chookford · 26/01/2015 10:29

jenny congrats on your baby girl... they are making a slow comeback now!

I tried a pregnancy yoga class with one of my DC.

It was a bit of a bust - I couldn't do some of the moves due to SPD - and the teacher seemed to take that as me not really being committed to yoga - and ended up asking me to leave the class (!).

She refunded my unused classes - but I was a bit cheesed off, tbh, that a major pregnancy exercise franchise had no experience of such a common pregnancy complaint.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 26/01/2015 13:04

so there's a weather warning for snow out for thurs...it better not think it's trying to stop me getting to my scan. Grin plenty of time for it to change between now and then though.

Jackiebrambles · 26/01/2015 13:23

Afternoon!

Mummy so sorry about your prolapse! Poor you.

Had some bad news, my Nana has died. She was in mid 90s so not a surprise but sad all the same. :(

My grandad died when I was pregnant with DS, which is a bit spooky. Ds has his name as his middle name.

If this baby is a girl I know what her middle name will be!

To add insult to injury the funeral is the same day as my scan so I've had to move it to 2 days later. So I'm even more at the back of the bus! It's 12th feb now. Think we are going to find out the sex though....
