Hexy, i added a fb version of the stats the other day so its easier at a glance to match RL names with MN names.. I'll bump it in a mo. Its got more personal info about where we are all from etc on it.... This will never be posted onto the MN thread!
Again if anyone else wants to join the FB group I can add you.

I am hungry ALL THE TIME. Yesterday I made the mistake of not eating at 11.30 when my tummy was rumbling. By 12.30 my eyesight went a bit spotty, like I was going to get as migraine. Had my lunch but should have eaten something sweet first as didn't feel right again til 14.30. In my last pg I used to get these random spells. BP was always fine, always took an hour or so to come right even eating sweet stuff. I have concluded that I need emergency biscuits on hand at all times!

End of a long day, my parents house finally ready for viewings, it looks so beautiful, so I hope the potential new owner appreciates what a special place they are buying.
Second year anniversary of my Mum passing away tomorrow so OH taking me away for a day of looking at prams and lunch out after we ve been to the church yard. It still seems strange that the baby is the first big milestone in my life that she will be missing out on.

mummymog · 27/01/2015 19:19

We have a tummy tub bath. 16 month old dd still goes in it and loves it- I recommend it - deep water keeps them warm.

Before you all rush out and buy breastpumps - it's NOT an essential piece of bfing kit. (unless you're expressing to go back to work - in which case I'd hold off buying till after you've found your going to keep bfing.) as someone who HAD to express last time to boost supply - expressing isnt fun. It's just not. If large quantities are needed - hospital grade double pump ( with hands free bra) is the way to go.

Occasional bottles and to relieve engorgment- you will honestly honestly honestly be best to learn to hand express - your WILL get more milk that way. ( and it's an invaluable skill when you go out for a night out without baby or pump and look like Katy price towards end of the night.

AnythingNotEverything · 27/01/2015 19:31

I agree Mummymog. The essential bf kit is some boobs, an accessible bra, and some Lansinoh. If you want a pump you can get one delivered next day through Amazon Prime, but it's wise to establish bf first before spending money on kit.

I expressed maybe a dozen times after we'd left hospital, in 14 months. Hardly worth the fab pump I bought and I could've expressed for comfort with my hands.

(Also, don't be tempted by second hand - unless it's a closed system, milk can get into the motor and pump workings, which means someone else's milk can potentially get into your baby's bottle)

cuphat · 27/01/2015 19:37

I agree that expressing is not fun, mummymog. I had to buy a pump last time as DD was a 'snacker' and wasn't emptying my breasts fully at each feed and I ended up with mastitis. I didn't express often but it was still a hassle (even with a great pump - the Medela Swing) and I'm hoping to avoid it this time.

cuphat · 27/01/2015 19:39

I could never get anything out with hand expressing, anything, I tried in warm showers/baths and did the special movements. But then I never leaked either so don't know if that's linked.

cuphat · 27/01/2015 19:42

Oh and I only used the pump during the first few months.

ellstor · 27/01/2015 19:43

Anyone else having weird chest pains? When I breathe out and in and the. If I was to press on bump- when I let go it sort of tightens? Feels so weird but I sort of feel like it might be normal? Happened on 2 occasions today for about 5 mins.
I have read in places that this could be normal because of baby pushing all your bits up!

Hope to god someone else has felt this!

AnythingNotEverything · 27/01/2015 19:46

Just shows how efficient babies can be Cuphat, even as a snacker she was more effective than you Wink. I've never been a leaker either. Loads of milk but no waste. I thought at first there must be something wrong ...

I think it's worth pointing out though that while the kit is useful, it's not a requirement. Bf is pretty low tech for most mums. There's a big culture of "buying stuff" when it comes to new babies, which is lovely and I understand why, but the bf stuff especially may be best left until you know what you need. It's a very individual thing between you and your baby, so hard to judge in advance.

cuphat · 27/01/2015 19:56

Definitely anything! And more efficient than the pump. I'm still impressed that they know exactly how much they need to feed.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 27/01/2015 20:01

Anything- good advice there. As a first timer I'm drowning in what to buy vs not to buy and what can wait.

Pregnanrandengaged - I've eaten for England today....and not healthily. Sad Just couldn't stop today. Always had a bit of a binge eating problem but that's the first time since I got pregnant it bothered me again.

Yay for another girlie today (even if you kind of knew already)Smile

Thanks all for the insight on baths as well. Very useful. Mire research to do now. It's all kicked off at work so no chance to do any there. Sad Smile

AnythingNotEverything · 27/01/2015 20:02

I loved the freedom from chasing ounces. DS wouldn't latch so I expressed for a bit and then ff. People were always interested in how much he had. I loved that with bf all I knew was that she was having enough. It was quite liberating. (Hat said, she was growing well ... I know it can be stressful if baby isn't piling on the pounds)

I echo all of the others who've said about Breast pumps! I'm planning on Bf, like I did with dd, but will wait until I'm in the swing of it. I had quite a liberating thought the other day though - baby will be 6/7 months when I go back to work, and then my mum will look after her when I'm in work. I've been panicking about making sure I express to get them used to bottles (DD was a nightmare, and when I was stuck on a tube after a long exam went 7 hours refusing my milk in a bottle!) but then I realised that from 6 months they can have sippee cups etc! So I'll express and my mum can feed her from those (assuming she likes them) - it really took the stress off.

Glad scans are positive, sorry about all of the placenta worry. Id also never have heard about all of the issues with them if I'd not been on here.

Just got back from a 3 hour open evening at work - my feet are so achey!

Yeah baby wipe wash or maybe just a hold over the sink and flannel wash?

They really don't get very dirty, only around the face/neck (milk/puke) and bum! In fact we didn't bath Ds at all until he was a few weeks old and then not every day as their skin is so sensitive we wanted to be careful and not dry him out!

jazzyjenbo · 27/01/2015 20:50

Take him in the shower with you tori, my babies both loved the shower. Just have dh on standby to take him off you so u can wash. If ur not sure about that then a bathroom or kitchen sink is perfect!

Thanks all for your advice re baths, that's great. Will check out all the links!

Chookford · 27/01/2015 20:57

I'm another one who is loving food but only at certain times! I can't eat after 6pm otherwise I feel like crap it's weird!

I had my call from the gp surgery I have thrush and a water infection too just to be sociable. Oh and I dropped my phone this afternnon and smashed the screen Sad not a good afternnon for me!

htf2 · 27/01/2015 21:01

We will get a bath - I always remember having them around for the babies, and we have a decent sized clawfoot - I couldn't possibly bath baby in it without getting in, thinking I might need a step myself at 8 months :) just a super basic plastic one though and no top and tail bowl - they really feel like trying to sell you something!
Helpful on the breast pump info - I had been thinking of getting one (a manual one as don't plan on using it that much) but maybe I will try manually, it is just for us going out /the odd night etc as I won't be bf when I get back to work at 10 months.

Thanks for the well wishes. My doggy seems on thankfully, unfortunately though even we prosecute, the dogs won't be put down, the police confirmed tonight. Just got to decide whether to bother or not now.

Congrats on your scan iwant I feel the same, want to have the scan to confirm the harmony. Crazy huh!

cuphat · 27/01/2015 21:27

DD lost lots of weight (just under 10% so she was being weighed very regularly) in the first week as it took a week for my milk to come in after my section but once she finally caught back up she stayed on her 91st percentile line just through feeding on demand and is still on it now! I'll be more relaxed this time if baby loses weight after my section as I know now that feeding on demand works once milk comes in.

Hope the infections clear up soon, Chook.

I haven't had any back pain with my two anterior placentas so it could be coincidental, sunbathing.

Glad doggy is ok, tranquility.
