Hi niki congrats and welcome!

Bazza2 · 25/03/2015 22:20

Hi niki!

jamakatab · 26/03/2015 18:01

Thanks for your encouragement folks, I feel pretty helpless being so far away. I could get on a plane tomorrow, but daughter is saying she wants me to stick to original plan of going in July. There's been a very recent bereavement in the family and I think she can only hold it together if I'm not there for her to let go to, if that makes sense.
Baby is now eight days old and yesterday was allowed out of her 'greenhouse' for a brief five minutes to have her first cuddle with my daughter. I wept all over the photo, it's so poignant. Anyway - every day is a little victory and a step along the way to health and wholeness.
Thinking of all you lovely mums-to-be and wishing you well as your dates get ever nearer.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 26/03/2015 19:36

Jam, that's really fantastic news. How lovely for your daughter finally to have a cuddle. I can understand exactly what she means about holding it all together without you there - brave of her though! I can hold things together until people are nice to me, when I just weep! It's hard for you when it's your little girl though. Every day is a step stronger though, as you say, so hopefully there will be plenty more cuddles for you in July Smile

Thanks for updating, I had been thinking if you.

cuphat · 27/03/2015 09:35

How lovely that your daughter has finally got to have a cuddle, jam - great news Smile. And yes, it does make sense.

jazzyjenbo · 27/03/2015 17:28

Hi niki and welcome, this thread is very quiet these days as we tend to use our very active (and very funny) fb group, any lurkers or newbees wanting to join are very welcome.

Jam, how fab that your daughter got her first cuddle, we are all thinking of you and your family. Your daughter sounds like a very strong mummy!

Jam - I'd been checking for an update so glad to see something a bit positive on that front.

let's hope for more and longer cuddles. Smile

Chookford · 28/03/2015 21:35

There are a few on here still but mostly it seems to be FB.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 02/04/2015 10:16

I think a few still lurk on here but a lot of the banter is on fb. It's the only reason I have fb now. Smile

cuphat · 02/04/2015 10:34

I'm around. As much as i like the fb group I do think it's a shame that this thread has died down. If I want to look back at my old posts regarding my pregnancy in the future they're much easier to look at on here. I can only scroll so far down on fb and it can't cope with any more, and also you can't search.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 02/04/2015 12:03

cuphat - you can search on the fb group for old posts, etc. Granted, the search function can be a little hit and miss dependent on what you are looking for. However, I understand fb is not for everyone. As I say, the only reason I go on now is for the June babies group. Smile It is very funny, witty, informative and occasionally, just a bit rude. Grin

I had to go back on the old threads the other day to find some recommendations on slings, etc that we'd discussed a few months back. I'm glad it keeps them for reference.

cuphat · 02/04/2015 12:15

Thanks, I'll have to have a look and see how well it works.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 03/04/2015 20:50

Hello again - a brief update: Baby has been very poorly with what seems to have been Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and it's been touch and go until a couple of days ago. She's now off the major machinery that was keeping her going, but reintroducing feeds is proving to be a bit tricky and the TPN/antibiotic line they put in through her leg up to her abdomen has become infected. BUT there is some positive news - she's almost at thirty weeks and still hanging in there; also her weight is stable, so I'm still hopeful that I'll get to have some granny cuddles eventually. Smile

Thanks for updating Jam. I hope she has a properly healthy spell now to recover Smile

cuphat · 07/04/2015 08:54

Sorry to hear that baby has been very poorly, jam. I'm glad she's over the worst of it and hope that she continues to improve. Smile

Chookford · 07/04/2015 09:50

jam sorry to hear baby has been poorly but it's great news to hear she is improving... Really hope you get to have cuddles soon..

I'm still around here, I have come off of fb as had some people find me on there that I didn't want too so I'm on here I know most of you only post on fb now, but would be great to hear how you are all getting on and once babies start arriving! Smile

cuphat · 07/04/2015 09:55

Chook, you can change your fb settings so certain people can't find you.

Chookford · 07/04/2015 10:09

cup yeah I know I'm just happier on here only really... That's the reason I avoided fb for so long, it's ok as long as I still hear when all the lovely June bugs are born! Grin

WelshGirlSeeksMarmite · 09/04/2015 19:38

Hi everyone, arriving a bit late to the party but I'm due on 9th June with my first baby. It's getting scarily close now so would love to join the group for advice, moral support and anything else!
