Chookford, I got nearly everything from oxfam for my dc1 - apart from "travel system" and car seat. Some of my NCT friends seemed to be horrified but we got loads of stuff that was practically new and a fraction on the price. Not to mention the cash going to a good cause! Win-win Smile

We are back from mil's... An uncomfortable weekend Hmm At least duty is done for a while, and I discovered while we were there that her own dd hasn't visited for getting on for 6 years so I don't feel so guilty now about visiting only about every 18 months or so. We see her several times a year, just not at her house. The worst thing is she's a hoarder - like the kind you see tv programmes about, and the house is just filthy. It completely sets me on edge, not to mention that we spend the whole time saying "don't touch" to dd. Ugh.

Baby has been a right old pain as well, lots of contractions and pain, so I am glad to be back close to "my" hospital again. 32 weeks today... Not sure I can cope with another 8 weeks of being so uncomfortable!!!

nikijm · 14/04/2015 00:19

Hiya 30 weeks tomorrow!

My DS is 9 now so I've forgotten what being pregs is like. Feeling massive and awkward! Cannot imagine another 10 weeks. Blimey

purplebiro · 14/04/2015 10:28

I am starting to dread going to bed, despite being knackered most of the time, moans include (but not limited to):
Acid reflux wakes me up followed by at least an hour of heavy nausea
Achy upper back
Farts = shame and/or stomach ache depending on whether I catch them in time/can be arsed to hold them in
Sore hips - you know when you go camping and the mattress isn't thick enough and if you lie on one side for too long they hurt? That
Turning over is an epic operation taking 2 minutes of grunting minimum
Wees. So many wees
Sex? HA! Last attempt last weekend left me badly winded and DP has now revealed that he is worried about hurting the baby or me. FFS

I am 32+5. 7 weeks more or this?????

I'm amazed my sciatica hasn't made an appearance yet - had bad SPD early on (about 4 months) and still get it a bit but - touch wood - I'm not doing too bad in that dept. Long may it last - back pain is the worst.

comeagainforbigfudge · 14/04/2015 10:59

purplebiro do you have a spare double duvet? If so fold in half and put it on your side of bed. Honestly made such a difference to my n my hips/back. (Plus it gives you a princess n the pea moment)

My spd is nowhere near as bad now I've finished work (thank god) was nearly ready to go off sick if my a/l hadn't started first!!

I was so uncomfortable last night, didn't know if I needed to be sick/fart or just burp. Ended up burping and then being sick, then all was well again Grin

Turning over in bed is awful though. I e started getting round ligament pain again when I turn... which I assume means bump is about to start expanding again soon

Anyway, has anyone been in primary for mat clothes lately? Really need a dress/tops/new trews but wondering if it's still all jumbled in with everything? Who can be arsed with that?!

Anyway, I bought myself a glass teapot, cup n saucer from M&S (well sky bought it for me) get to collect it today Grin claps hands far too excitedly

Hope you all have a nice day

zahaziland · 14/04/2015 11:01

ah sleep troubles! My fatigue has now returned after a few months respite, but I now have insomnia. I can't seem to find a comfortable position to sleep in. I normally sleep on my stomach, so now I pass most nights trying to lay on my right side, but ultimately swapping between lying on my back and alternate sides.

However, I feel that I shouldn't complain too much, as I have a quite easy pregnancy. No particular aches and pains, my bump is relatively compact and I can still get on with my normal day (albeit at a much slower pace).

At the weekend someone asked me if I was 4-5 months along, so that set off my paranoia thinking that maybe there is a growth problem. I have actually already put on 10 kilos, and I don't think my bump is small, but for some reason I can't stop thinking about it. I had my bump measured yesterday and apparently it was "perfect" so I should stop worrying, but I now can wait until I have my growth scan in early May.

Is anyone thinking about taking a last minute holiday or short break, or are you all going to stick close to home for the final stretch?

purplebiro · 14/04/2015 11:05

Will try the extra duvet tip - we already have a mattress topper but it was cheap and I think it's squashed down a lot.

We're not going anywhere. Trying to get the last lot of decorating done before baby appears. Eeeekkkk (it involves plastering - own fault for being lazy bums and not just getting it finished ages ago!)

purplebiro · 14/04/2015 12:26

I am supposed to go to an awards ceremony for an award my business (that I set up and run) is short listed for in a few weeks (will be 35w exactly) - in Bristol (I live in Manchester) - debating on whether driving or taking the train will be more comfortable but will defo have to stay overnight...seriously considering sacking it off, despite it being quite a big deal for my business/me - something I've been working towards since day one. My mum is absolutely adamant that I should go and that DP should accompany me but it just feels like too much HASSLE to be away now...what would you all do?

zahaziland · 14/04/2015 13:21

Congratulations for the award purple! I guess it really depends on how you feel. But it does seem to be a special occasion for you and your business.
Do you have other DC?

As I am still feeling quite good, I think I would definitely go (especially if I could bring my DP with me).

Some people might think I am mad, but I am actually considering going to New York next week for 4 days. It would be for work and they will fly me out in business class, and I could fit in some rest-time every day during the afternoon plus my DP could come (using our air miles). I did check the latest official recommendations from the Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists, and they state that the safest time to fly is before 37 weeks if you are carrying one baby (I would be at 32 weeks).

purplebiro · 14/04/2015 13:39

No other DCs and I am aware that 7 weeks from now doing stuff like this will get considerably more problematic...I dunno - I've asked the organising peeps about expenses and they've not got back to me yes, maybe I'll let that decide it - not to be too much of a diva but a nice hotel and the leg room of first class on the train might just swing it - but if we've not won the award I doubt they'll spring for that...but then we'll know at least! :)

If you feel up to it go to NYC - I would check insurance will cover you first though - that will probably be a bigger headache than the airline...

zahaziland · 14/04/2015 14:52

I've asked work to double-check their insurance policy, as obviously I won't even think of going unless I am fully covered.
My flights/hotel and everything is fully refundable, so I can decide up to 48hrs before I am supposed to leave.
It's difficult to know what to do, as I do feel really quite well at the moment, and the trip would be as easy as trips across the pond can be (work has ensured that everything would be as comfortable and stress-free as possible).

Try to get the awards organiser to get you a nice hotel, first class train tickets and to cover any taxi fares!!! :)

speedbird17 · 14/04/2015 15:17

Nice to see this thread getting some more posts :)

I am 34+1 today and still awaiting a moving date for completion! Packing boxes is just joyous when you're the size of a whale. To complicate matters someone drove into our parked car and smashed it up on Saturday so have that to deal with too.

Sort of vaguely packing bags here - both mine and baby's are half packed, DD and DH's are just lists next to empty bags currently. Have washed all newborn/0-3 clothes, carrycot bedding and got a new mattress so sorted on that front. All DD's old clothes/carrycot/car seat are ready in our living room for moving day or hospital, whichever comes first.

Purple - if you do end up coming to Bristol and have any free time at all I am quite near and will be on mat leave so could meet for a coffee :)

Hoping all these June babies stay put well into May for those who've had scares etc.

Chookford · 14/04/2015 15:22

speed I feel your pain, I'm moving next Wednesday and packing up a house at 34+2 is proving slow and painful!! And having my dd off school for 2 weeks isn't helping as she keeps trying to help me pack bless her but is making my job 10times harder!

Bazza2 · 14/04/2015 22:27

I don't know how you are all doing it. I'm 34 weeks and can barely put on my own shoes, let alone move house.

Chookford · 15/04/2015 07:55

bazza it's not fun but house needs sorting and my dh doesn't get home until 7.30 pm ish so I need to have most of it done by this weekend, which it is now but it's uncomfortable!! Moving and having a baby at same time is hard going!!! Wink

comeagainforbigfudge · 15/04/2015 10:24

I'm struggling to climb out of bed this morn. I don't know how I'm going to do anything today! Got a list as long as my arm but just want to go back to sleep

MUST GET UP

Bazza2 · 15/04/2015 13:04

Has anyone got any experience of breech babies and ECV? I've been having tons of extra scans because of worries with baby's growth (he is measuring rather small - enough for them to be concerned about possible achondroplasia) and at all these extra scans he has been breech. They told me today that I'm to go in again in two weeks, when I'll be 36+1, and if he's still breech then we will talk about ECV.

cuphat · 15/04/2015 14:17

Wow! Great to see so much activity on here!

Bazza, they discovered DD was breech at 38 weeks (I think she had been all along). After much research I refused the ecv and went for a section. There were too many risks with the ecv and the success rate wasn't very good at all. I'm glad I did as I had a very positive experience with the section and DD was massive so there's no way she would have turned anyway.

I've got all kinds of aches and pains now. I've been able to control my PGP but today I have started having shooting pains between my right hip and bum when I move my leg forward. I had no pains at all with DD.

I've been panicked enough at having to get the nursery done (which baby won't be in until 6 months) so I don't know how some of you are coping with house moves at this stage!

Chookford · 15/04/2015 17:39

bazza my baby is breech too, have had 3 extra scans and last one is on 30/4 if it hasn't turned by then we need to have to discussions about ecv or section.. Like cup though I'm leaning more towards a section as its a lot less stress for both myself and baby...

Bazza2 · 15/04/2015 22:15

That's what I think too chook and cup. CS sounds scary too though!
