Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Hi all
good to hear that everyone is doing well. I am with everyone on the knackered front but otherwise OK. Quite a lot of tummy pains in the evening - a stretching type feeling on my r/h side - anyone else had this? Also suffering from heartburn for the first time in my life which is strange - so much for my healthy diet!!! Had a few cries this week for no apparent reason - hormones are a little crazy I guess. Anyone planning a nuchal scan? Have a relaxing w/end x

babycakes26 · 11/08/2006 15:11

P.S. Still no ms at 7 weeks - is this a bad sign?? I had ms bad last time I was pregnant when I had a mc....

liath · 11/08/2006 15:27

Feeling generally OK - tired & have some period-like cramps, a bit squeamish off & on. I'm glad someone else is feeling weepy, though - am feeling terribly emotional!

Am off out for a meal with DH tonight as it's our wedding anniversary next week when he's working nights & we figured best do it when I can still look at a plate of food without turning green .

Am not planning a nuchal scan, babycakes. We don't get a routine 20 week scan here so will do that privately. Suppose I'd better get round to seeing the GP at some point....

babycakes26 · 11/08/2006 15:34

Hi Liath - enjoy the meal! Sorry to hear you have been feeling a little weepy too but you are not alone - sure it's just the hormones I feel a lot better today emotionally so I suppose it changes by the day.

oooggs · 11/08/2006 16:19

Hello - have now decided to join in!!!!! Due 12 April with no.2.

DS will be 3yrs 4mths on due date.

I am feeling terrible with dizzyness, tiredness and morning sickness. Struggling to look after a toddler .

I had morning sickness until ds was born a month early last pregnancy so dreading it.

Hope you are all well xx

Xavielli · 11/08/2006 16:42

lol bubblez! I was already in hosp with (supposed don't believe it myself) high blood pressure! so my waters just broke and I huffed and puffed and there she was. I didnt have G&A either time... I went for the shouting option!

bubblez · 11/08/2006 17:26

OMG X!! I just mangaged to get about 15mins of G&A before they took it off me to push and I was fighting them for it...

babycakes26 I will take the nucal scan. I did with my dd. Do you have any appointments through yet?

Laith I hope that you and dh have a lovely meal.

bubblez · 11/08/2006 17:28

Sorry to hear about your ms oooggs have you tried any of the remedies listed below or on the march 2007 thread?

babycakes26 · 11/08/2006 17:36

Hi bubblez - just got date through for nuchal 14th Sept - also thinking of having a private early scan to help put my mind at rest after last mc - any advice? Hospital said I could have this next week...

Enthusia · 11/08/2006 20:01

Thought I'd just say hi as may pop on from time to time (I am a fully paid up member of the November 2005 gang so that is still going strong) Have a ds of 9 months and looking forward to doing it all agin. My edd is 18th April, so I am 4+2. Just tiredness and queasiness so far, although I do have somewhat of a bump already and am already in maternity wear arrrgggghhhhh. That's waht you get for a 9 month gap I suppose.

mammyjo · 11/08/2006 20:38

Hi everyone. Have been in work all day today and still nauseated and feeling quite rubbish! Thanks for the advice to look up the March 07 thread. Found out about preggie pops and have just found a site and ordered some so fingers crossed!!
Have been drinking lemon and ginger tea all day today which is actually quite warming and lovely. Havent actually been sick today so that is an improvement!
Welcome oooggs! Will let you know how the preggie pops go just in case you need something!!

babycakes - I am thinking about a nucal scan as being a bit older with this one that my last. Not routine where I live so I will have to travel to another area. Does anyone know how you book one privately? Do you know the ideal time to have it done? I won't be seeing the mw until 12 weeks and thought that might be a bit late to arrange one.

Had first sign of ms this afternoon, I had forgotten what it was like having to cook while feeling like this yuck!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

bobblehead · 11/08/2006 22:06

Starting to feel really queasy at times now so have taken to keeping a plastic bag next to me in the car just in case
I felt really sick with dd but never actually threw up so hoping this will be the same. Only 6+2 though so no doubt it will get worse before better!

spots · 11/08/2006 22:16

Hello, I had an April 2006 baby and just popping in to say what a very wise move it is having spring babies! DD2 has been mostly kicking in her inflatable ring in the garden today; seems like no time since I was posting on a 'due in..' thread. Good Luck all of you!

EllieK · 12/08/2006 09:44

hi everyone
i remember being really excited by this stage last time round, now the running a home, working, looking aftera toddler and being pg are just making me shattered!
i'm hoping it gets better x

babycakes26 · 12/08/2006 10:27

Hi Zazas
My doctor recommended a local private hospital for the nuchal - when I booked they told me that 12 weeks is optimum time to have this. I didn't need any sort of referral from my doctor so it may be worth googling to see if any private hospitals local to you offer this? Good luck

bubblez · 12/08/2006 10:29

babycakes26 - the hospital that i had dd at made the nucal scan part of the 12week 'growth' scan. Obviously they gave the choice first and if you didnt want them to take the nucal measurements then they wouldn't take them. But i did want to know, even though at 21 the risk is very low. I didn't realise that some hospitals require you to book the nucal scan separate.

At least you have your apt through? how many weeks are you now?

Welcome Enthusia hope to see much more of you.

Elliek can sympathise with being pgers and running round after toddler=extreem tiredness. Roll on the 12th week...

Mammajo seems like something is working at least. I hope that it gets better for you.

Bobblehead hopefully it'll get better rather than worse

I'm going out today with dd to my nans woohhhoo! Hopefully the food she cooks doesn't upset the baby. Will try to catch up later.

mammyjo · 12/08/2006 11:37

Morning everyone. Have had a lovely lie in this morning as my ds stayed with his grandparents last night. Still nauseated but not as bad so thats something.
Hope everyone is ok, take care xx

muminamini · 13/08/2006 09:22

Morning ladies!

Mind if I join you?
Absolutley chuffed to bits to get my BFp yesterday - have been ttc No 2 for 7 months so am so happy to finally be joining an ante-natal thread.

Hi Bobblehead and Bubblez from the Hoping for a positive thread....and also to everyone else on here.

Wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy, poopr mammyjo you sound like you are having it rough with the ms already!

My Due Date will be 20th April (very poor planning as it is the date of my best friends wedding and I am supposed to be doing a reading - and the weeding is miles away in Wales - I live in the NW!!!)

I already have a DS who is just turned 2 and I am dreading looking after him and feeling exhausted - I remember from last time just feeling so so tired and I can't imagine that and looking after a 2 year old...

I tested a couple of days early as I had an overwhelming feeling of nausea yesterday morning in tesco and when I got home and tested there was the BFP...I have to say that I also feel very nauseous this morning which is wierd as I didn't have it so bad with DS - was only actually sick about 3 times....

I am anxious as it is early days and I bled last time with DS and had about a 2 week wait to find out everything was ok as it was so early n. If it happens this time round I think I am more prepared to try not to panic and as long as it's not heavy and painful just ride the storm and keep testing to make sure the beanie stays there. But lets hope it doesn't come to that.

Why is it that you are so excited for about 10 mins and then the worry kicks in???

Anyway - have you guys told people yet? DH and I couldn't hold our own pi** and told my Dad and His Mum yesterday but have said that we are only telling them and no one else until after 12 weeks (how long that lasts I don't know!!)

I have the slightly tricky situation of working for my GP so they will find out I am PG as soon as I book in with the midwife which I can do anytime but think I will wait till I am 6 weeks.

Sorry it's so long and rambling

SO EXCITED FOR US ALL!!!!!!!!!!

Have a lovley day and get your feet up and chill as much as you can

x

P.S Will have to change my name to Muminameriva as DH says I have to sell the Mini - it really isn't practical for 2 - BOO HOO!

babycakes26 · 13/08/2006 11:19

Hey muminamini congratulations - you sound really happy - welcome! I know what you mean about telling people - my DH and I told our parents straightaway and I told my sister and best friend (who is expecting no 3 in Jan 07). Trying to keep the lid on things at work for the time being - as it is my own business no pressure to have to tell anyone but the boss who already knows as he is my DH! Lucky in this respect..

Bubblez I am now 7+5 weeks so a month or so away from nuchal scan. Being a FTM I didn't realise that I could have this test through the NHS - my DR never mentioned this...then again my DR is not great - I told her I was feeling quite anxious after my last mc and her only response was "try yoga"!!! Needless to say I have been stuck in the downward facing dog pose ever since Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend - mammyjo glad to hear the ms eased a bit for you yesterday..

mammyjo · 13/08/2006 14:03

Back to feeling ropey today again and I have also got some niggly crampy abdominal pain which is freaking me out. I really cant remember whether I got that first time round.
Welcome muminamini, hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!
Thankfully my dh is happier now so things have settled back down on the home front.

muminamini · 13/08/2006 14:23

Hi Mammyjo

I also have the niggly crampy feelings - just terrified every time I go to the loo that I will be bleeding - so silly I know but tomorrow is the day my af is due and I would be as regular as clockwork....

anyway - must not stress...it will be fine I am sure.

Just having a quiet half hour whilst Ds has a nap so have had my feet up reading the paper. DD
has gpne into overdrive and is sorting out the loft and shed to get rid of rubbish to make room for new stuff?! He got all my maternity clothes out of the loft from last time - won't be needing them for a long time tho (I hope) lol

Anyone else being driven mad by having to pee every 5 mins/ I was up last night as it just felt like someone was sitting on my bladder all night

x

gmary · 13/08/2006 14:26

hello everyone. after a summer w/e in paris with my boyfriend i was shocked to discover that i have a baby due on 12/4/07! but i am so excited now - and aside only a tiny bit queasy. i just moved from australia to london as well, so it's now everything is going to be new... it's hard not to drink red wine in the evenings though.

IsabellaMoi · 13/08/2006 14:44

Congratulations to everyone! My dh and I were over the moon last weekend when we tested (after ttc for 3 months) and saw the much anticipated little line! I am due April 14th. So far, I have felt fine except for very tender breasts and a bit of trouble sleeping (I wake up in the night and start thinking about the baby and can't go back to sleep). My sister has had terrible ms with all three of her pregnancies so I think it might be in store for me, too.
We are Canadians who have only lived in London for 4 months. I'd be interested in hearing if you are having your babies through the NHS or privately, at home, at birth centres....or? We have coverage for private care but we may opt for the NHS...still trying to figure out the UK system and any advice is welcome. I have my first appointment with a GP next week.
Here's hoping we all have happy, healthy pregnancies - and babies! I look forward to chatting with you all during the journey.

muminamini · 13/08/2006 14:57

Hi Isabella moi

Congratulations.

Hope you manage to find your way through the information about NHS etc. I was NHS last time, had excellent ante-natal care and cannot complain at all - I moved house and to a different health authority as well at 32 weeks and my new Doctors and the midwife team (it is Community carewhere I am) were fantastic.

Where I live you make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you find out you are PG and you make an initial appointment to see the midwife anytime from after 6 weeks really. At this appointment you fill out paperwork and apply for your maternity exemption for medicines etc and you are booked in for your 12 week scan. I think they also do routine blood tests.

I think you have another scan at about 20 weeks and then see your midwife at about 22 weeks then every month until 32 weeks...then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks and then every week (don't know if it differs everywhere else). We get free aqua natal classes at the local lesuire centre as well once a week. (Obviously this is providing everything is going along well).

I didn't have a brilliant birth experience last time but that couldn't be put down to the support I got from the medical staff, also since my last birth (in a horrible old hospital) there is a brand new maternity hospital so hopefully my next experience will be better. If I had the money I would probably go private but I don't so not got any choice really!

Good luck no matter what you decide
x
