Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

caribmummy2 · 08/08/2006 21:33

hello everyone -

i'm due on 1st april i think, so i'm about 6 weeks. this is my second baby.

feeling extremely nervous as i'm a c-section mum and am hoping for a vbac this time.

nice to "meet" you ladies.

caribmummy2

zazas · 08/08/2006 22:34

doobydoo - no I didn't have 2 positive tests and not pregnant. Last time I used an old test I found when my period was late and misread it. Needed 3 spots to all go pink and only 2 did and I thought I was pregnant! Didn't help that the test was from Japan so couldn't figure out what I was doing. Anyway this time definitely am after 2 tests that actually say 'your pregnant'!!! Haven't decided on the tests yet, have a booking in appointment at end of week before we head off on holidays for 2 weeks so will get information then and decide. Was 32 last time pregnant and not offered any.

sallycinnamon · 08/08/2006 23:07

Thanks babycakes. Congrats to you too! Well done Caribmummy and everyone else.

EllieK · 08/08/2006 23:39

hi all
i have a due date of 15/04/07
already have a ds (be 3 in september)
but not with his dad anymore so it's like the first time allover again with my new partner
even tho i've done it before, and on my own, it somehow scarier this time!

liath · 09/08/2006 08:35

There's a few of us now, aren't there! Hope everyone's feeling OK - Twinkle, hope things have settled.

I'm still reeling from the excitement of having an email read out on the Jeremy Vine Show yesterday .

Still feeling Ok, the odd bit of nausea and get hit by a wall of tiredness in the evenings (nothing new when I'm chasing after a toddler all day!). Keep forgetting I'm pg - last time it was all I thought about so no wonder the 9 months dragged LOL.

Am due around 12/4/07 I think.

Bramshott · 09/08/2006 10:00

Just to report that I seem to have been more successful in conquering the sickness today but leaping (dragging?) out of bed straight away and shovelling in a big bowl of branflakes as quickly as possible! Good news generally as I'm working until 10.00 tonight.

Off to the doctors tomorrow morning to get on the pregnancy "treadmill" - I guess it will all seem more real then.

Thinking of you all.

mammyjo · 09/08/2006 12:18

Twinkle, how are you today. Hope everything has settled down.

Thanks for everyones concern!!

hollyhobbie · 09/08/2006 17:40

Hi all,
glad you're feeling better, Twinkle!
I'm like you, Liath- can't really believe I'm PG, whereas I thought about it non-stop last time. It's been made a bit more real because we told our families at the weekend (I'm 6wks today). We told them so early because we live abroad, and were back in the UK at the weekend so took the opportunity to do it face to face.
I'm happy to be PG because I don't want an only child, but flying home with DD was quite hard work, and did make me feel, "I'm mad to do this again..."
On the plus side, haven't been sick yet, just queasy, but not sick, which is an improvement on last time

mammyjo · 09/08/2006 21:02

Not a good day for me today. Extremely nauseated and have vomited a few times too - if anyone has any tips on easing this I would be very very grateful! Bloody exhausted too!
So pleased things are a bit more settled for you twinkle, lovely news.
Husband doing my skull in, he is miserable as sin. He has a lot on his plate at the mo and is tired due to working very long hours. Not a good combination with my mental hormones though as we are forever at each others throats. Sorry to winge but needed to get that off my chest!

That's great news Twinkle!

liath · 10/08/2006 07:19

Remedies for morning sickness:
ginger - ginger tea or biscuits.
eat something before getting out of bed in the morning.
fruit.

I lived on dry crackers and grapes last time and lost 2 kg .

My *ing sister who is 9 weeks gone and has had very little nausea smugly told me that she thought morning sickness was, in fact, just hunger (apparently a nutritionist told her this...). I wasn't impressed.

sallycinnamon · 10/08/2006 08:32

liath your sister maybe speaking too soon!
At what point has sickness started for everyone? I know I'll get it but I can't remember when it began with dd.

zazas · 10/08/2006 09:40

With both my babies it was around the 6 week period when it started in earnest! With my first I naively thought I was coming down with the flu.....8 weeks later when I lifted my head out of the toilet bowl I knew all about morning and afternoon and evening sickness! With DS is was not as severe but I did eat to combat it right from the beginning which was a great help. Waiting for it to start with this one - will coincide with our 2 week holiday in France which will be interesting....

bubblez · 10/08/2006 09:46

Hello everyone,

God it seems like ages since I last posted on here.

Twinkle so pleased for you that the bleed has stopped..xx I haven't had an appointment yet and I'm sure that with my dd I had them set out on the day that I told my doctor that I was pregnant.

Oh mammajo you poor thing!! The only things that I have heard other than the remedies mentioned are:
Mint tea - really settles stomachs
Mints
Dry biscuites to have by the bed to eat before getting up.
On the March thread there are many remedies from these special sort of lolly pops to other more conventional methods. HTH. I hope things are a little more settled with you and your dh now at least.

liath how is your ms this time round?

Sallycinnamon I remember that with my dd nausia started from the moment of conception almost. It was one of the first signs that I was pregnant. But I understand that each pregnancy can be different so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get it in this pregnancy.

Fingers crossed for everyone else too...xx

Oh and welcome to all newcomers...xx

twinkle183 · 10/08/2006 10:46

Hi guys feeling extremley pregnant now... the wall of extreme tiredness has finally hit to the point where I am having problems keeping my eyes open at about half 9 - I am nackered!!!

Remedies for sickness with DS only seem to have it in the evening... so ate apples and rich tea biscuits.... That seem to work!!! Hope this helps

Take care everyone...

doobydoo · 10/08/2006 14:12

HIJACK

Ooooh, bubblez! I just read your birth story on the positive childbirth thread! Your first was exactly the same as mine (right down to the last detail!8.30 - 12.30 no complications) just wanted to say that the second one was exactly the same but an hour shorter! There is hope! lol

Hope you are still feeling ok.

(sorry about that!)

bubblez · 11/08/2006 11:32

Hiya X good to hear from ya girly!! How are ya?? That is soo spooky that our labours were the same even down to the timing! The only thing that I worry about with this one is that I won't make it to the hospital in time [worried expression]. So that must mean that your second labour was two and a half hours WOW that is fast! Did you get to the hospital in time?? Did you manage to get some G&A down you before having to push?? AAHHHH now I'm freaking myself out lol..

bubblez · 11/08/2006 11:40

How is everyone today??

Mammajo has your ms eased a little? are any of the remedies working yet?

I'm ok today, got a bit of back ache other than that and tiredness I'm fine. Touch wood it lasts though as I'm not yet into my 6th week.

How is everyone else?
