I am tempted to just call this one 'boy'

pikz · 03/09/2012 18:33

Thanks everyone. I too am on the 2 Stone gain side with 11 weeks to go! Why do people feel it necessary to comment and say oh well you are big/small...it's so bizarre! Have been for a 45 minute walk and making low fat chicken pie for tea, loving all the other dinner suggestions!

Evilwater · 03/09/2012 18:45

Had a good day, despite the bad start. Ive cleaned the bottom of the house, done some washing, and slept all afternoon. As for names i have my little list and im going to see what he looks like. The list as follows:
John,
James,
Nicholas,
and christopher.
His middle name will be daniel, but i love the name Scott. We have no connection to Scotland and my DP seems very against it.

For tea tonight, i was going to cook curried lamb, but my DP dosn't like it. So its fish and chips.

My cat is looking better, and my DP is teaching me how i can help when i go on mat leave. just 4 shifts to go! Whoppie!!

i phoned the bank about my book, and all i have to do is send a letter. Thank goodness for that.

evil

TitsalinaBumSquash · 03/09/2012 19:12

Evil darn good choices for names Grin our LO will be John (Jonathan) and middle name will be Nicholas (after my Dad) and DP's name is Daniel otherwise I'd have picked that. Grin

I'm certain this baby is laying transverse today, I can feel him quite clearly sideways. It's making it impossible for me to move around or get comfortable, at what point do we need to worry about positioning?

bluearya · 03/09/2012 19:24

evil almost same list as mine apart from nicholas, them my DP reminded me of our agreement, i chose DDs name he chooses this one, so i'm getting a Matthew Smile.

I've gained closer to 2 stone and can't stop eating... bread and butter nhamm

daisychain76 · 03/09/2012 19:28

Hello everyone, lovely to see so many newbies. Just got back from a week in North Wales with no internet/phone reception, so spent about an hour catching up with the thread!

It was possibly the most stressful holiday I've ever been on as the warning that the cottage we'd rented was accessed by a "rough track" omitted to say it was up and down the side of a mountain with a 100 foot drop at one side, over-hanging cliff at the other and about 4 inches either side of the car. I had to walk it every time we wanted to go anywhere I was so petrified! Oh, and kept having lots of period type pain (but constant not coming and going) leaving me petrified that I'd be stranded with no ambulance access. Thankfully its eased off the last couple of days, so hoping I'd just overdone it.

Evil I love the name Christopher and would be using that if we didn't already have a close family member with that name - I think it is fairly unusual these days (I like it shortened to Kit too).

daisychain76 · 03/09/2012 19:39

Oh, meant to say, if anyone is thinking of ordering reusable wipes off Cheeky Wipes, you get 20% off with the code BACKTOSCHOOL, but I think it ends tonight (yes, I know making your own is lots cheaper, but I am lazy!)

TheDetective · 03/09/2012 19:44

All the talk about takeaways is making me very Envy

I don't tip - anyone - ever. I mean I pay enough for stuff as it is! I certainly wouldn't tip for a takeaway, Dominos is over priced as it is!

Tits I have a sideways one this evening. I must say, I feel more comfortable when he is sideways than up and down! Apart from the arse kicking he gives me!

I have a small dilemma. I'm currently chatting to my cousin on facebook. She sent us a wedding invite a few weeks ago, and I was confirming my attendance with her, although letting her know that I will be 39 weeks pregnant at the time. She asked me which option I would prefer for food, and I said the veggie option, given that I was veggie since the age of 9, and only in the last couple of years have started to eat chicken. I don't eat any other meat, so generally stick with the veggie options when out! She sent me a message saying the veggie option was Salmon. Now, this isn't a veggie option to me. I don't eat fish, didn't when properly veggie either. What do I say to her? Help! Don't want to offend, but don't want to look like the fussiest guest ever . I feel like it would be easier just to not go now! I just can't eat salmon (I actually have a phobia of fish, the kind that means I can't go in the sea/river/lake, can't go anywhere near fish, to be quite honest. Won't even go on a boat.) If it is served to me, I'd break out in a cold sweat and hyperventilate. It's like if someone told my DP to stroke a spider or something! It is a genuine fear! How do I deal with this now?!

I feel stupid!!

applepieinthesky · 03/09/2012 19:48

Roast chicken and chips for dinner mmm Smile

I've got terrible heartburn yet again so will be chewing on Rennies for the rest of the evening.

Matthew is a lovely name.

fatima does your DP/DH have any suggestions or is he as stumped as you?

TheDetective · 03/09/2012 19:52

Cousin just messaged me back to say she will ask for a chicken option for me, and now I definitely feel like a shit wedding guest! Oh dear...! I'm 'one of those guests' now aren't I?!

horseylady · 03/09/2012 19:53

I'd just ask what sort of vegetable a fish was :) no need to worry about offending someone fish is not a vegetarian option its a pescetarian option. You won't look fussy. I just tend to eat plates of vegetables when out lol.

FatimaLovesBread · 03/09/2012 19:55

DH hasn't been the most forthcoming with suggestions, says we've got plenty of time. He seems to be the opposite of me and likes anything, even hideous names Grin

TitsalinaBumSquash · 03/09/2012 19:55

I feel for you Detective, I have a fish phobia really quite bad. Blush

Glad she is being accommodating, getting Chicken isn't unreasonable and I should imagine quite easy, it's not like you're asking for the finest Caviar with golden flakes! Grin

horseylady · 03/09/2012 19:55

X post there detective!!

Vegetarians are the worst bloody guests and customers!! I can say that being one :) the amount of times I've offered salad and chips to one who wants something special cooking is unreal. Glad cooking is no longer my full time job!!

TheDetective · 03/09/2012 20:01

I've just let her know not to worry, I'm happy with a plate of veg to be honest! And the fact i'll be 39 weeks with severely limited space for food!

I'll just take snacks with me! And it is in the area where I work, so I know where to nip out to for something if I need it ;)

I hate being so fussy!

pikz · 03/09/2012 20:13

I don't think your fussy. Vegetarian means no eat or fish, I'm sure there are other veggies going that don't eat fish!

horseylady · 03/09/2012 20:18

I don't think youre being fussy either!! Vege is vege :)none meat none fish!!

Evilwater · 03/09/2012 20:19

My DP is Spanish, and was wondering about all the fuss about breast feeding. Appently on the mainland it is a very normal thing, and they are on the breast longer!
He also discovered a thread on mumsnet, on how British women dislike breast feeding on account it makes our breasts sag. I'm sure it's much more complicated.

Is anyone else afriad to have sex, on account of making the baby arrive earlier?
Or is it just me?
Evil
P.s
Fish and chips were fantasic.

horseylady · 03/09/2012 20:23

Evil not dtd on weeks!!! I feel far to fat and uncomfortable to think about it!!

kirrinIsland · 03/09/2012 20:24

That's not fussy detective - fish is not a veggie option!

I've put on just over a stone. I seemed to put on loads very quickly but now it's slowed down, thank God!

I am currently alternating between swigging Gaviscon and lactulose, I am very uncomfortable! I have well and truly reached the point where I can't bend down, and my back is getting pretty achy too. Moan moan moan.......

Congrats on your new nephew DH

TheDetective · 03/09/2012 20:25

It is pregnancy that does the boob damage, sadly! And age.... Mine were lovely and pert til about 24. Then it all went south!

I don't feel like sex because I'm generally uncomfortable, and the thought of sex with a wriggling baby inside makes me feel a little nauseous! I don't remember feeling like this last time though!

ValiumQueen · 03/09/2012 20:26

Sex will not make the baby come early. It can prove helpful when at term due to hormones or something, but it will not encourage a baby out before it is ready. And they are not distressed by it, and they cannot see anything (all things I have reassured DH about).

ValiumQueen · 03/09/2012 20:28

I feel horny as hell Grin

TheDetective · 03/09/2012 20:29

I cried in work yesterday, because I had to bend over to get a cot sheet out of a cubboard, and it was on the bottom shelf just above floor level Blush. The woman who needed it was just so rude to me, treating me like her slave. She basically refused to change her own babys cot sheet, and was happy to leave it in its own vomit. I pulled a muscle getting down so low and couldn't get back up until the pain subsided!

I also have an issue with the amount of things what suddenly seem to be stored at floor level. I had never noticed quite how much stuff before now.... And putting knickers, trousers, or shoes on is a game in itself.

StuntNun · 03/09/2012 20:31

Maybe TMI but if you DTD then nothing gets anywhere near the baby because of the cervical plug. When not pregnant however, there's nothing to stop the little sperms swimming straight out the end of your Fallopian tube and into your body cavity. Now you'll never DTD again!

For the record, as a confirmed carnivore, salmon is not a vegetarian option, that's ridiculous!
