Oh, I measured around the bump DH and you will probably be amused to know that the tape measure did not meet. Blush

Tape measure is a metre, or 39 inches. There was about 1.5 inches of gap! So must be about 41 inches give or take!

Lard arse

Gutted that I have a new stretch mark :( Also noted some new ones going the opposite way over my old ones! I didn't know that was possible! I figured my old ones would just come back! Now I look like a friggin' grid!

Iheartpasties · 24/08/2012 04:30

OOow a new thread already? Valium will be please that you girls finished off the last one properly :) !!

thedetective I am so happy that your little one is now giving big vigorous kicks. It's all such a worry isn't it?!

Etienne is a lovely name. Does everyone else look at all the names on the credits at the end of a tv show to see if there are any good ones??!

rowingdowntheriver · 24/08/2012 04:36

Can't sleep!

swiss, I've just been thinking about your milk dilemma and there is not much I can add to previous posts other than maybe tackle the day time nap first.

With my DS, once I got his daytime naps sorted the night time sleeping just sort of happened. If you go cold turkey as was suggested by dh, and which is what I would probably do too, it should be easier to tackle during the day as you are likely to be less tired and hopefully have more willpower. When your DC has learned to get themself to sleep during the day it should be much easier for them to learn to self settle at night. Hope that helps but if not, feel free to ignore! Good luck!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/08/2012 06:59

I have a cold Sad

horsey Etienne is lovely. yw DD1 has a friend called Seren, is really unusual but not too wacky iyswim. I love it. Would see her through life. Like the Gabriel someone mentioned earlier is a great life name.

detective glad all is ok, try to not get too bogged down with work. Easier said than done I know.

I have booked in for some maternity reflexology Smile starting at 31weeks, hopefully it will help my sacral issue/ sciatica, not sure which it is, odds on the first one as I had it before. Anyway then the plan is that it helps prepare for labour at the right time rather than 11 days late like with the las two. We will see, if nothing else I know it will be lovely.

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/08/2012 07:21

detective sorry I did laugh at the tape measure not meeting!
I think I was about 26in pre-preg though.

Baby was kicking loads in bed last night, that seems about the only time she kicks alot now. All through the day I get the odd wiggle and jab so I have to wait 24 hours to feel the big kicks it seems.

WaitingForMe · 24/08/2012 07:34

At yesterday's appointment my MW measured me and identified how he was lying (I can't do this at all, can't identify any body parts) then got the Doppler. She could not find the heartbeat Sad

I was just starting to worry like Detective when she suddenly swept it to one side. He'd managed to completely change position and was squeezed up on my left side. "Gosh he can move fast" she exclaimed. But she says she likes it. Active wriggly baby that hides from the Doppler is good.

Gave DH a cuddle in bed this morning and he got kicked in the back. So pleased as he normally goes really still around DH.

ValiumQueen · 24/08/2012 07:43

Shame about the gro lights, as they won awards. Not to be confused with grow lights!

Well done for completing the old thread so well. Shame I missed it.

Scary time for you detective glad all was ok, but shame you had to experience it. I did smile at you looking like a grid. I also did not know they could do that. Mine all radiate towards the belly button, but thankfully not many. Pre DD2 I did not have any above the button, but as she was so big, as was I, I developed a few. No new ones yet this time. Not yet anyway.

Now I am exercising more, my PGP is coming on. Only 9 weeks to my section though.

Dixiebell · 24/08/2012 07:44

pasties, yes I always check out the credits for potential names! I also have to admit to having read through the whole ONS baby names spreadsheet for 2011, which has thousands of names in order of popularity! It's how I chose DS's name (Arlo), as it wasn't one I'd heard of before! People always say how did you choose that, I can't bring myself to say I found it on a spreadsheet. :)

Morning all, shiney new thread again!

Congratulations to there on the safe arrival of her twins! I'm a little bit excited to know that the November babies have begun to arrive (although I'm happy for the rest of our belly dwellers to stay put for a while yet!)

horsey Etienne is a lovely name!

Has anyone got any tips for avoiding leg cramps in the night? I had the MOST painful cramps at 5 o'clock this morning, in the front of my left leg and the calf of my right. I've had cramp before but this was on another level, I couldn't get my right foot flat on the floor for nearly 15 minutes, it was so painful to push down (which normally eases it for me) so any advice to avoid it again would be welcome!

On the positive side we are now sleeping in our brand new massive superking bed which arrived on Wednesday. We thought we'd invest in the best mattress we could afford and so far it's really been worth it. And all my leaping out of bed this morning didn't even stir DP when before I'd only have to turn over for him to be awake.

WaitingForMe · 24/08/2012 08:14

I was told to drink more water misslaugh. I now have a 2 litre jug I make myself finish every day on top of everything else I drink. I'm constantly on the loo but no more leg cramps.

I was drinking loads before but apparently was still dehydrated and many pregnant women underestimate just how much they need to be drinking.

jaylee89 · 24/08/2012 08:21

morning all.

well seems baby has moved as no kicks in foof anymore [yayyyyy]

had a dream i had bloody triplets last night Shock but only one of them i saw perfectly she had a little white hat on and very big rosebud lips she was actually very cute i wonder if she will look like that when shes born......hmmm

as everyday goes by i get more and more excited. i remember when i found out i was pregnant and remember thinking omg this is going to take ages but i have to say [please dont jynx it] its gone quite fast and i hope the next 11 weeks goes faster for all of us now...........and then we will have our thread where we are all trying to keep eachother up beat about not going overdue lol

hope everyone is well

jaylee

misslaughalot · 24/08/2012 08:25

Thanks waiting, I'll try more water! Anything to stop it happening again!

Brockle · 24/08/2012 08:29

I know what you mean waiting. I have started to drink one large glass before bed and in the night I wake up thirsty. I think I will have to up it to two.

You will be giving birth VQ a week into my mat leave and I will still have three weeks to go. November may be a long wait and a lot of checking on MN to see who has popped out!

Glad everything is ok detective. I am much more aware and nervous about feeling movement this time around. Anyone thinking of/has a count the kicks bracelet? Waste of money or useful?

Going to see TopCat at the cinema with the boys after the final bits and bobs shop for school. I am taking bets on how many trips to the loo the boys will want during the film...

applepieinthesky · 24/08/2012 08:55

What a scare detective It must have been an awful couple of minutes. Glad everything is ok.

Waiting My baby was the same yesterday. Midwife felt my stomach and said 'oh yes, baby's here', put the doppler on and nothing. He had already moved, the little monkey. For a brief moment until she found him again my heart was in my mouth.

horseylady · 24/08/2012 08:57

Detective how scary!!!! Dh coming round to the name lol so maybe!!

Not sure about cramps sometimes I get them, others not. Increase salt or water one or the other will be imabalanced.

No idea how big my middle is!! Will measure back home. It was 26inch pre preg!!

horseylady · 24/08/2012 08:59

Talking about heartbeats, mine always moves round. He also always boots the midwife when she's listening! Having seen him 'live' though it's no wonder!! Active little chap!!

ValiumQueen · 24/08/2012 09:04

I must admit I thought Etienne was a girls name. But I am not at all cultured.

We seem to be having a Silas after going round and round.

horseylady · 24/08/2012 09:14

No a boys name lol but we still like luke, just wanted something a bit different. The problem with a lot of French names is they're the same in English or would be pronounced incorrectly. Etienne means Stephen. The french isn't important to me but is to dh.

MissMummy1 · 24/08/2012 09:17

I take it all back about having no movements yesterday!!

Last night DH was crouched down talking to my bump - junior should be able to hear/recognise our voices by now - and he/she booted him in the face! Not once, but twice!! (That'll teach him not to use his big boomy irish voice...)

He's only ever felt him/her kicking once or twice before now and thought it was brilliant. Wish I'd had my video camera at the ready - it was almost comical!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 24/08/2012 09:21

Lol DP has our little one well trained, he leaves for work every morning at 5 and whispers a goodbye to me and gives me a kiss and then says goodbye to the bump and gives it a pat and a kiss and is always rewarded by a big boot in the face Grin
I don't remember the other 2 bring as responsive to touch but this little guy will always prod back. Grin

My friend had her baby girl last night, I'm not jealous at all much Smile

applepieinthesky · 24/08/2012 09:23

There were loads of boys names I like but DP vetoed because he didn't like the Arabic version. Joseph for example is Yousef in the Koran and he doesn't like Yousef so I couldn't use it Hmm

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 24/08/2012 09:51

Hello all. We're very stuck on names - DH and I just do not like the same things at all. Current possibilities are Sebastian or Freddie, but neither of us are wild about either.

StuntNun · 24/08/2012 10:16

Are bananas good for leg cramps or is that something I made up? The potassium sorts out the salt imbalance or something?

I have so much ironing to do it's unreal but DH is away on business and DS1 is a bit young for ironing at age 9.

OP posts:
applepieinthesky · 24/08/2012 10:19

I always wanted little boys but we are using the only name we both love on this baby. Don?t know what we?ll do if we ever have another one. Girls names are so much easier.

Yep Stunt bananas have potassium in them and I was told to eat them to reduce the number of cramps I get.
