I have 3 weeks to go... When we found out it was a boy I knew I'd have the crazy name battles. Our DD has a V beautiful but V unusual Latin name. Trying to push his crazy names to middle names.
His boy suggestions are:
Aurelian
Hector
Titus
Lysander
Tiberius
Gaius
Uriel

My suggestions with his ideas have been either
Duncan (family name) and Titus as a middle name or Reuben (DH thinks too popular) and Uriel as a middle name. Thoughts?

I quite like Hector.

Picturing Hector Salamanca and his bell.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/11/2022 21:36

Lyndon?

I quite like all the names (not Duncan though sorry!)

Is Romeo too posh and Becks?!

Cassius is cool 😎

octoberfarm · 14/11/2022 21:36

Not sure if it's already been suggested sorry, but would Magnus be an option?

Wonnle · 14/11/2022 21:36

How's about
Biggus
Dickus

BellaVida · 14/11/2022 21:37

I quite like Lysander and Titus.

What about:
Maximus or Maximilian
Atticus
Milo
Leo
Felix
Benedict
Victor
Cassius

Neverknowinglysensible · 14/11/2022 21:37

Ok, names actually used:
Huw (Welsh version of Hugh) Taliesin (bitterly regretted as no one can pronounce it), followed by DH’s dreadfully boring name
Frederick John (family names)
I’m not worried about outing as I have a very common surname!

Off topic, but why do men often want their own name as a son’s middle name? I’ve never felt the urge to replicate my name.

Needaholidaypronto · 14/11/2022 21:38

Jeez horrendous! How about Victor/Leo/Julian/Cato/Thaddeus

these are the only vaguely liveable-with Latin ones that are springing to mind…quite like Hector though. Knew a very cute shihtzu called Hector 😂

Delectable · 14/11/2022 21:38

Love them!

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 14/11/2022 21:39

I live in a semi rural ex mining village in the North East that was named The whitest place in England. The kids were all called Ryan and John and Andrew.
Ex DP wanted to call our DS Akira. He definitely wouldn't have stood out or been picked on... 🙄

Cassius is cool I agree and has become acceptable from Cassius Clay.

LeMoo · 14/11/2022 21:41

You could have Rueven instead of Rueben maybe?

Or how about Devon or Tristan?

Lionel...Tor...Fergus.. Lucan..?

Dickus

😂

Courgettecity · 14/11/2022 21:42

If it helps OP, I named both my boys unusual names, both names now appear in the top 100, one even in the top 20! They're both the oldest of their names that I know by some years but fashions change fast.
For my last child I went all out, think Lysistrata, or Archelous, basically it's so unusual I won't put it here as my family will ID me immediately. However, despite some odd ways people pronounce it, they have never been teased, nor complained to me about having such a name. It seems quite mild to me now as well, don't know why I was so worried about going for it!

SugarNspices · 14/11/2022 21:47

Reuben Titus sounds like a good name don't use Rupert with any of those warrior type names Rupert sounds like a wet lettuce

Smashingpumpkins2022 · 14/11/2022 21:48

My ex’s son was James Tiberius Kirk ( yep Star Trek fan)

samsmum2 · 14/11/2022 21:51

Are you married to Jacob Rees-Mogg?

londonmummy1966 · 14/11/2022 21:52

The most "normal" name along your DH's lines would be Alexander and you could add one of his possibly as an unused first name so Titus Alexander or Hector Alexander or Alexander Gaius but call him Alex/Xander etc. The next would be Marcus. Otherwise CLaudius nn Claude, Julius or Julian, Hadrian, Felix, Cassius, Cyrus, Remus, Tarquin, Achilles/Achille, Leo, would probably pass the playground test. One of his list could be added as an unused second name eg Leo TIberius or you could go the whole hog with Marcus Aurelius.

JedEye · 14/11/2022 21:54

Jago
Garth
Castiel
Gabriel

maccaroni · 14/11/2022 21:54

Sorry but just why?? Think of the poor kid in school and as a young adult and in the world of work. Just choose a name that people who how to spell and how to pronounce. Does it have to be “unusual”?

tootiredtospeak · 14/11/2022 21:54

Lysander and nickname him Xander that's a cool name. Go normal for the middle though like maybe John.

LeMoo · 14/11/2022 21:55

Aslan..?

Tessabelle74 · 14/11/2022 21:57

@MissEnolaHolmes he doesn't get to choose? It's his child too! They need to AGREE on one, it's not a bloody dictatorship if you're in a happy relationship

I think you're repeating her point. She's saying he doesn't get to choose, they need to choose a name together.

FluffySocks0 · 14/11/2022 22:02

@MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake 😁

topcat2014 · 14/11/2022 22:04
