New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

Not as bad as mine Whizzz.

Mine will be going as soon as I have time to set up another.

Miaou · 02/01/2008 16:13

nbg, how did the hankies go down?

GreebosWhiskers · 02/01/2008 16:21

Oh thank the Lord - I didn't see my blog there & for a moment I thought I'd been kicked out

Plans for this week;

Finish my first ever pair of fingerless gloves (one down, one to go)

Finish dh's Old Gregg (who's been hanging around half-done for weeks)

Finish my square for the Pratchgan 2008 - 97 knitters & crocheters from the Ankh-Morpork Knitters Guild on ravelry will be sending me a total of 109 6" squares. They'll be sewn together with mine, edged & backed to make an afghan for Terry Pratchett who's recently been diagnosed with early-onset alzheimers. This seemed like a good idea at the time but it's slowly starting to sink in that people from as far away as the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Israel & Europe are all trusting me not to make a mess of their handiwork - I'm having panic attacks already

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 02/01/2008 16:28

Oh my dad loved them.
That was all he wanted for xmas lol and having that personal touch to them made it more special.

FIL was very appreciative too. He had an operation on his face some weeks back and as a result now he constantly sneezes and coughs so they were a god send for him

Miaou · 02/01/2008 17:52

Oh really pleased they liked them!

More things I am doing this week - designing two cross-stitch kits for an MNer - one of Fifi Flowertot and one of Thomas the Tank. I have a computer program to aid design but it's not functional atm so I am doing them by hand!

I also have some material (green silk) which I am going to make a wrap skirt with. I might also, at some point, make a matching fitted jacket, to wear to my db's wedding in June. Plus I have three old denim pinafores that belonged to dd2, which I have plans to turn into a patchwork miniskirt, if my sewing skills are up to it! But I think those projects are longer term ideas.

Greenbos - sounds fantastic! Would love to see some pics, even WIP would be great!

Gingermonkey · 02/01/2008 19:27

DS's dino cushion is nearly done and blogged.

Miaou · 02/01/2008 19:36

Oooh that's nice Gingermonkey

rantinghousewife · 02/01/2008 19:38

Gm, dd has gone all soft for that dino!!!
Have finished, dh's scarf, one of my scarves, (I'm crocheting the other one), done all the hats. And now I want to make something for me, that isn't a scarf!!

Gingermonkey · 02/01/2008 21:11

thank you Miaou and thank you RH - your DD should be my special ideas tester, if the girly says yes then I should go ahead with it!!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 02/01/2008 21:59

Oooh dino cushion is lovely!!!

Bluestocking · 02/01/2008 22:03

How timely, I have just finished a notebook for my mum's birthday - it's an A5 size one with a band round it for her to use as a travel journal - I've covered it in a collage of stamps from all over the world, all it needs now is the sticky-backed plastic - it looks beautiful!
Need to make a draft excluder now, there's a howling draft coming in under the front door.

Gingermonkey · 02/01/2008 23:00

thank you VVV. Now I have to think about doing a picture for DS's room...not sure where to start though
bluestocking - the notebook sounds lovely, any pics?

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 03/01/2008 11:22

Love the cushion GM. Its fab!
Did you get my email?

Miaou, can we have pics of your creations when you've done them?

DUNTG, very good.

I have a new challenge, make some hearts for a friends dd!

Fubsy · 03/01/2008 11:27

Can I ask - how do you set up a blog? Can anyone do it?

rantinghousewife · 03/01/2008 11:30

Yes, go to blogger.com here and it talks you through it, I upload my photos on picassa but, you can use adobe or flikr.

Fubsy · 03/01/2008 11:31

jeangenie · 03/01/2008 13:36

hi all

happy 2008 to you! hope everyone had a good holiday, we really enjoyed the down time I must say

I've put some pics up on my blog along with pictures of the hot rice and lavender bag I did for my sis for Xmas, she really liked it so I was dead chuffed as it took me a whie to figure out how to do it

I can't remember if I managed to say thanks to GW and GingerMonkey before I dashed off pre Xmas but huge thank yous to you both. GW the brooch is GORGEOUS! How are the etsy plans coming along? GM, I am looking forward to using those linens really soon, thank you

my project for this week is to do a dress for my old rag dollie now that the festie rush is over and I can get back to old UFOs

Gingermonkey · 03/01/2008 13:47

Nbg, still no email. hotmail is a bit rubbish tho....try going from my blog? I think there's a link there.

Jeangenie - wow, what a lovely christmassy scene. I am vvvv of your christmas in Switzerland, it sounds much better than wet and murky Yorkshire (tho it is snowing today - hoorah!). The lavender bag looks great, go on do a tutorial!!!!

Miaou · 03/01/2008 14:20

NBG, will do my best! I'm not really the "blogger" type (too disorganised!) but I'm beginning to think it would be a good idea to set one up. I'm determined to master the camera this year
