New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

nbg- I have jsut written up a quick post on my blog about the easter swap things I made... and just relized i didn't take a picture of the card... I linked it back to yours and left a comment about your swap teaser... very curious.

the earrings weren't too difficult, but i'm not very adept at bending the wire to my will.

easter swap reveal

Nbg · 20/02/2008 11:09

Meri how did you do that link so that it just comes up with the blog name?

Whta wire did you use for the earrings?
Was it a headpin?

Nbg · 20/02/2008 11:11

Forgot to add, I was laughing my head off at dh last night.

He was asking why I'd been buying fabric off ebay and I explained that its because its a bit cheaper and they have nicer designs sometimes.
He said why dont you just buy it from the shop you normally do and I told him that their selection is a bit limited but thats there are no other haberdashery shops here.

He then said "Oh yes there is, theres xxxx on the industrial estate".
Followed by a doh why did I just say that look

meridian · 20/02/2008 11:18

nbg- yes it was a head pin... and lol at your DH he really shouldn't have said that now should he? to make the link I just putty the addy on then click on the HTML bit on the posting page which shows all the HTML codeing for the post, then I just change the adress bit to be the name not the adress ... its sorta simple when you look at it... sorta

Gingermonkey · 20/02/2008 11:21

Foolish man - doesn't he know he's opened a can of worms?!

I do links without the whole addy, but I don't know how to tell you how to do it (does that make sense?) - I have to cut and paste from a previous post and change the details, my friend told me how to do it, I'll have a look to see if I still have the email and I can forward it to you if I do!

lucykate · 20/02/2008 11:27

i do links by typing in the words you want to make into the link, then highlight them, and click on the little icon above the text box that is a little green and grey chain thingy, that then open up another text box which you type the url of where you want to link to into, click ok, and it automatically makes it into a link.

but i think it depends as to how new your internet browser is as to whether or not you actually get the link icon or not to do this.

Gingermonkey · 20/02/2008 11:29

our blog

Nbg - copy and paste that above, and change the blog name to the link you want to link to, and where it says >our blog< put the name of the link. When you put in a post, make sure you preview it first to make sure it works though.

HTH!!!!

meridian · 20/02/2008 11:38

nbg- I have just been sorting out my etsy shop a bit and just noticed i have inadvertantly named a bracelet after you ...

gingermonkey- My mom finally got the package I sent with "Pug" in it... the weather has been so awful there, feet of snow and ice storms that they haven't always been getting the mail. Anyway she loves it so thank you once again for making the pug for me!

Nbg · 20/02/2008 16:57

Thanks for the link info.
Will have a play.

Lol Meri

I've just been to the new fabric place.
I kind of scammed them by rummaging through the £5 remnent bin and they only charged me £1 for them.

Marvellous.

Tillyboo · 20/02/2008 18:56

Hi All, I'm feeling much better today although I still feel as if I have been kicked in the head my a horse with lead wellies on !

The Antibiotics are kicking in and so tomorrow I expect to be completely better (I hope)

Anyway, after cocking up my first attempt at the Easter Swap I have started again.

So, my challenge this week is to finish the swap piece ....

Here's a little visual clue but I don't think you'll guess.

rantinghousewife · 20/02/2008 19:02

That's intriguing Tillyboo...and very beautiful. You have to tell us what it is when you get it Fusby.

meridian · 20/02/2008 20:16

nbg- that can't be all you bought? fess up

I made some more earrings but the light was just too rubbish to take decent pics.. though I did take one good one of the ones i made last night here in the 5 minutes of daylight there was this afternoon.

tillyboo- glad you are feeling a little bit better.

Fubsy · 20/02/2008 21:17

Lol - I need a [scratches head] emoticon!

I dont mind not traditionally eastery, Tilly - I made two things that looked Christmassy before I was happy with yours!

Gingermonkey · 20/02/2008 21:30

TB - that looks beautiful...what is it???!!!!
NBG - I like the sneaky way you didn't tell the shop they undercharged you - go girl!!!

Gingermonkey · 20/02/2008 21:31

I hadn't finished my post, thanks laptop.....

Meri - I've been waiting ages for a parcel from the US, I think it got lost though . I'm glad your Mom got hers ok, and she likes her new Pug!

rantinghousewife · 20/02/2008 21:34

I must admit that I've played hard and fast with the rules(ie: your gift is not very Easterly GM) but you CAN use it.
How mysterious am I?!!!

Tillyboo · 20/02/2008 21:48

I asked dh if he thought what I have done so far evokes thoughts of Easter ... he said 'No, not really'

I wanted to do something that could be enjoyed all year round & hope I've achieved that - as long as I don't cock this one up !

Gingermonkey · 21/02/2008 08:51

Well, MINE is very Eastery because I am a stickler for rules - not like all you rule benders ha ha.
RH - you can't use yours, but it's Eastery, and hopefully you'll (or some other person in the house...hint, hint) will like it. I'm hoping to get it finished this evening, I've had a poorly finger so hand sewing has been painful (and I bled on one of the hair clips I made for DD's friend's party - luckily it was red felt and you can't see it, I think DD can have that one!!!).

Gingermonkey · 21/02/2008 08:55

I've just noticed we're at 994 messages - so before we run out of space and get confused.....this way ladies

Dingle · 21/02/2008 19:28

Nbg, would you let me know what wording you want on the front of cards please - just basic "Happy Mother's Day" or names as well? They are sitting here on my desk in pieces looking very sorry for themselves!

My new stamps arrived today....hubby is going to watch footy so I am going to play with my new toys!!

Dingle · 21/02/2008 19:33

oops...sorry, checked this thread and posted on wrong one!
