I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

GreebosWhiskers · 26/12/2007 21:40

Oh Merrydian your poor ds Hope it didn't wreck his Christmas & that he's feeling better soon.

I got the stitch n bitch crochet book off dh (yayyy!) & have already spent my Christmas money on a little laffing horse triangle loom off ebay so looking forward to that arriving.

Won't be on much over the next week as dh is off now 'til the 3rd & moans if I spend too long on the pooter so will have to try to abstain to keep the peace.

Have a happy new year everyone.

Whizz, hope you had a lovely birthday (and the rest of you, a merry christmas).
Santa kindly bought me interchangeable circular needles (woo hoo!) and two stitch bibles, one for crochet and one for knit. You can guess what I've spent the last few days doing!

Gingermonkey · 28/12/2007 12:51

Meridian, Poor DS. Is he ok with it? Both of mine have had chickenpox (DS at 5 mths old - despite the HV telling me it was not possible ) and they were (thankfully) fine, although DS was covered in spots from head to toe (even his little willy, poor thing), DD only had a handle of spots and you wouldn't have known she had it at all. I was lucky (well, they were!), DD gave it to a friend and he was really poorly and don't think the mum has ever forgiven or forgotten .

I had a lovely christmas, I din't get much in the crafty stakes though . I did get some new, much needed, big fabric scissors and some buttons. DH got me a Mario Testino book from the Taschen shop in New York when he was there the other week and got it shipped over (because it is so huge), and it's signed, so I was very pleased with that, although I haven't had a proper look through yet, because I don't want to crease the spine [sad geek emoticon] (I have a bit of a thing for fashion photography despite being useless at it myself!), and I got a lovely necklace with a winged skull and black pearl too by the same people that my wedding ring is by (yep, that sounds pretty horrific now I've written it down....but it isn't, I like skulls and black pearls ). Oh, and DD got me a beautiful brooch from Chanel, but methinks her Daddy may have had something to do with that
GW - your loom sounds very interesting, how does it work? You'll be out shearing sheep soon to spin your own wool

GreebosWhiskers · 28/12/2007 14:37

GingerMonkey - I've actually got a drop spindle & a huge bag of hand-dyed (tho' not by me) merino rovings in the stash cupboard that I've had for over 6 months & have still to have a fiddle with. I'm definitely going to have a go at spinning soon but definitely draw the line at shearing the sheep

The only crafty thing I got was my stitch n bitch crochet book from dh which I've been hankering after for ages (I nearly didn't get it tho' as he tried to get me Dr Who Operation first & only got the book 'cos the game was out of stock). The book is fantastic & I'm just back from the yarn shop where I bought some 4 ply to crochet myself some fingerless gloves.

I also bought a big pack of hand-crafted paper 'cos I bought some card-making stuff from Whizzz the other week & have now discovered the joys of card-making too so between my paper, yarn & loom that's my xmas money mostly gone but I'm one very happy bunny.

I'll let you know what the loom is like once I've had a go. There's a link somewhere in the ebay listing that gives instructions & it apparently takes very little yarn. I'm all excited about it [saddo emoticon] & have joined a tri-loom weaving group on ravelry. I'll link to a couple of the weavers' blogs later 'cos you should see some of the shawls they've made. One woman barters her work & has made 9 full-size shawls since October!

Oh should add before I go that I've not been totally idle - I crocheted hats for dd3 & ds over Christmas. I did ds's yesterday while dh was in bed recovering from food poisoning (NOT from my cooking btw - the silly b*gger ate half a chocolate cake that had been sitting for ages then spent the whole of Wednesday night in the bathroom). dd insisted on designing her own hat & chose the yarn & demanded a bobble when I wanted to put flowers on it I had fun with ds's tho' - it's a blue & green monster that looks like it's eating his head

LUCYKateallthemincepies · 28/12/2007 15:01

hellooooo, hope everyone had a good christmas. sounds like there were some interesting presents opened on christmas day. have just been googling a triangle loom as i had no idea what one of those is. looks really interesting gw - i did weaving as part of my degree, haven't done it for ages though, although i did have a 4 shaft table top loom which i got from a charity shop for a while until all the strings started to snap it was so old.

merridian, hope your ds is feeling a bit better, both mine have had chicken pox, ds was only 7 weeks when he got it from dd. by the time we realised she had it, it was too late, he'd already been exposed. he was ok with it, not too poorly.

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 28/12/2007 15:08

Afternoon everyone.

Merry, hope your ds is better soon. Chicken pox is rotten.

GM, you did well at xmas. I'm rather jealous

I didn't get any craft bits but I got some money so I got some fabric yesterday and I'm going to make ds1 one of those playmat bags and a friend has heavily hinted that she wants a doll for her dd

dressedupnowheretogotilxmas · 28/12/2007 23:46

been making my own eyepins for my charm bracelets and been busy buying bargains on ebay while everyone is off partying hahahaa

i also made some nice swarovski earrings which im quite proud of hope your all well

Gingermonkey · 29/12/2007 09:51

NBG, you did best of all - you got the baby as an early christmas present! (and I am VVVVV of you there!) BTW you haven't emailed me your addy (or I haven't got it) (katyejones at hotmail dot com) so I can send the little one a present.
I have now taken the tree down (because it looks so sad without presents underneath it), put the cards away, tidied up after christmas and am back to the real world....I spent yesterday washing and ironing my fabric stash.....how exciting, whoo!!!! And then I made an apron for DS for nursery, and have half made a tabard style too, and last night I started 2 sets of lavender mice, I just need to fill them and sew them up and then make some bags for them. I missed crafting over christmas and was desperate to get back into it!!!

thank you everyone for the comesering about ds chickenpox.. he is doing fine now the spots have all crusted over nicely and he seems to have not been that bothered about it, no itching or anything, I wish I had it that easy when I got it as a kid.

I have made a few semi-precious gemstone bracelets since x-mas.. but thats about it crafting wise, and no pictures as I haven't been on the computer, DH gives me the evil eye if i even make a move towards it.

i'm going to try to do a crafting sort of new years list, beyond the usual loose weight get healthy sort...

GreebosWhiskers · 30/12/2007 16:58

Meant to add we got the best present ever from sil - she called on Christmas day to say that after years of failed IVF & an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured & landed her in hospital she's now 10 weeks pg with their first, much longed for baby. She's had 2 scans, they've seen the heart beat so everything's in the right place & they're now treating her just the same as any 'normal' pg woman.

I cried

Tillyboo · 30/12/2007 17:16

Afternoon All, Blimey where has the time gone. It's been just non-stop since the 11th Dec - all been a bit of a blur.

My brother and family are with us now for new Year so we have another house full with lots of fun and laughter. I've managed to steal 5 mins to say hello to everyone and hope you all had a lovely time.

Sorry to hear about the Chicken Pox but lovely news about the new baby. What a lovely new Years Surprise !

I'll post some new pics on my blog later - once the little munchies are in the bath/ in bed/ locked in the shed (only joking !!!!)
How much mess and noise can two 3 year old plus little munchies make eh ?
PLENTY, that's what.

Anyway, I hope you all have something nice planned for New Year, whether it be at home, out or wherever.

Hi all.

Greebo, what lovely news. Big congratulations to them

Meri, get those pics uploaded!

Tilly, your house sounds fab. I love having family round.

Ginger, I did email you but I think I have been having problems with mail I have been sending.
I will mail you now. Thank you

Well I have been in bed all day thanks to the flu
I havent felt this ill in ages. I could cry lol.
On top of that, this morning dh went to work, dd got up a threw up, then ds woke up and threw up on me, i went to clear myself up and when i came out of the bathroom dd was lying on the floor unconcious

Cue mad panic from me.

So dh came home, sent me to bed and nursed the kids all day.

Hoping i will be a bit better tomorrow as i would have liked to have had a little tipple to see the new year in

WeWhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 31/12/2007 09:29

NBG - hope everything is OK & everyone gets well soon

I've not done any crafting as all beady stuff is still stashed away. It will however be re-appearing soon & I can't wait to get going again.

Hope everyone has a great New Years Eve & best wishes to all for 2008
