I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

OP posts:

Nbg - can you email me katyejones at hotmail dot com. I want to send your new addition a prezzie. And can you please have a rest and stop being so blooming efficient and putting us all to shame.

jeangenie · 10/12/2007 16:43

oh NBG you are amazing! congrats again ( I had home birth and no stitches with DD2 and while I wasn't exactly crafting within days I certainly felt very well!)

I remember seeing a link to an ebay seller that sells irish linen cheaply on some thread or other (or blog, or blog comments or...oh god there are too many places...) can anyone help me out? I want to get some for the rice heat bag for my sis...(she has endometriosis and is in severe pain so I am hoping this might help at least a little - I feel so useless in the face of her discomfort )

pantoinghousewife · 10/12/2007 19:52

Nbg,congratulations on the arrival of your LO. Am a bit awed that your crafting again, think at that stage I was still wrestling with my nipples and taking lavender baths..
We are not worthy Nbg!

Gingermonkey · 11/12/2007 08:23

JG, I get mine from etsy, but I buy remnants rather than yardage. Do you want a bit? (for nothing, of course!) I'm out nearly all day today, but you can email me via blog and I'll pop it in the post for you. Saves you having to buy a load. I pieced mine together - so it made a bigger piece, and then sewed them together.

jeangenie · 11/12/2007 11:58

awh GM that's really kind of you - will email you later - thanks

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 11/12/2007 15:21

lol, thank you for the lovely comments

I have to say though I am not as talented as the rest of you.
Plus Ethan is a very happy little baby and doesnt demand very much at all.

Gingermonkey that sounds exciting I will email you thank you.

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 19:48

I love the name, I had a boss many moons ago called Ethan, he was a lovely, lovely chap.

Merrydian · 12/12/2007 11:17

been to preoccupied with buying gifts and wrapping them, though i have managed to hang up a few more orange sliced as ornaments on the tree, ds actually helped to make some for his grandparents. I'm going to have a go at knitting a flower brooch later tonight. Oh and making edible raindeer food ( i think its a waste to make the glitter kind) with ds and frizbe's DD1, basically its granola which i haven't made before and am just going to do it my own way and the recipes that i have found have either tons of salt or vegtable oil. i'm sure it will turn out will let you know the results. if anyone intrested.

oh and do that brownie jar thing and a jar of cinnamon sugar and make decorative lables for them.

SantasWhiskers · 12/12/2007 11:21

Have done no crafting at all apart from an attempt at a crocheted wire star which is now hanging on the tree. As a first attempt it's not too bad - a little wonky but okay.

I really really need to get dh's old gregg done but since he's now decided that instead of going out for xmas lunch we're going to have his parents here I'm gonna have to do extra shopping, tidying etc so am not chuffed

I've posted out the prizes to GingerMonkey, nbg & DutchOma. The others haven't responded to requests for addresses so will give it one more try then give up.

jeangenie · 12/12/2007 12:22

but what name have you chosen oh whiskered one? I am dying to find out

Gingermonkey · 12/12/2007 13:36

Merrydian - yes please to reindeer food recipe. Although I know for a fact DD doesn't really believe any more..she is just pretending for my sake (I think she is still a bit afraid she won't get any presents if she fesses up!)

My tree is still not up I am the worst mother in the world ever. Tomorrow I will put it up as a surprise for DD, because she loks so upset every time she gets home from school and it's still there

GW - whoo!!!! Presents!

SantasWhiskers · 12/12/2007 15:08

jeangenie the name I have chosen is . . .

Crochata

So thank you very much for your suggestion & if you'd like to email me on [email protected] there's a wee pressie waiting to be posted out as soon as I have your address.

jeangenie · 12/12/2007 17:21

aaah, I'm chuffed! I wasn't in it for a prize tho, and you really don't need to...I was just dying to know what you'd chosen...

(I will email you my addy tho' never being one to look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. Gosh, this on top of coming 19th (!) in DD1's school raffle - I'm on a roll!!!)

Merrydian · 12/12/2007 18:22

ginger- ds is only 4 so santa is really real for the first time, and quite terrifying at times, anyway here is the reindeer food it turned out very nice, the house smelled all lovely and christmas-y .. ds and frizbe's DD loved making it, and especially that it was "reindeer food"

right best go sort out ds for bed time, he is absoloutly shattered and we are off too Chatsworth Tommrow for a walk around and lovely lunch

jeangenie · 12/12/2007 18:55

I like the reindeer food idea MA - might do some of that

I've put the xmas decorations I made on my blog I've also made two more of Amy Butler's cosy kittens as gifts and a tea cosy

will aim to photograph them tomorrow

I am so glad I found this thread, it has totally spurred me on over the last month or two. I'd never sewed more than once or maybe twice before I came on here and I'm really enjoying it now (still not great at it but having lots of fun!).

Thanks laydees!!!

Gingermonkey · 12/12/2007 20:22

JG, I think they look great! I went to the post office today, to find it was closed (as it's WEDNESDAY - obviously the day when the post office closes!), so the parcel shall be in the post tomorrow instead, sorry!

I am getting a little more than a little excited because Clothkits is coming back, and I am told by good authority that clothkitty is being updated and redone and I can finally get my hands on a new one (after my old Kitty doll died after being abused by the twin tub) it's like all my christmasses have come at once, I have prayed (well, almost) for this for years!!!!

pantoinghousewife · 12/12/2007 20:31

They're lovely jg (how are you btw), and Gm dd still takes 'Rosie' to bed with her.

dressedupnowheretogotilxmas · 12/12/2007 20:32

pantoinghousewife · 12/12/2007 20:34

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 13/12/2007 10:31

Right, since a week last monday I have made a steiner doll (which has now gone missing ), a doll for dd, a weirdy soft toy for ds, an elf shoe (purely decoration) and a christmas elf thing

I feel rather satisfied lol.
Going to get some more fabric today and have more fun

Can I just ask the experts, what is the best type of fabric to use embroideerry floss on and that blanket stitch looks good on (if that makes sense)?

jeangenie · 13/12/2007 11:07

nice jewellery dressedup
nbg - you are amazing! quite amazing! I'm no expert but I like blanket stitch on felt, embroidered felt looks great too - check out this blog entry
GM - no problem about the posting - that wednesday thing - it's mad...my french lavender arrived today, thanks for the ebay tip - I got a huge bag for £3.75 including P+P so I am raring to go now...having all sorts of nice ideas for the decoration of the bag which I hope I can pull off!

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 13/12/2007 11:13
