To sleep in the garden tonight

My beautiful dog is going to be put down tomorrow. Shes in pain and the cool air and grown outside seems to offer some relief. She doesnt like to be alone. So I'm thinking about just sleeping in the garden to join her. But im aware that for one I'm grieving and thats clouding my judgement and for two I don't have the most clear judgement anyway.

I should add I'm a scout leader so I'm not afraid of the elements. Its dry and pretty temperate here tonight and I have a lovely double sleeping bag to cosy up in.

Do it. You can always go back inside later on if you need to, but I feel like you will regret it if you don't try.

Absolutely go for it, we lost our girl in March and the whole day of she was totally spoiled.
You'll remember this night for years and in time it will be a happy memory.

Do it - I slept on the floor with my cat with the mattress covered in puppy pads when she lost continence in her last couple of days and I’m so glad our last memories together were of cuddling in our sleep.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Personally I would sleep outside (once the garden is secure and not visible to passerby etc) and wear lots and lots of layers in addition to the sleeping bag. Also have some kind of waterproof layers on the ground under the sleeping bag. You are probably not going to sleep too much anyway. Sending youba hug

If you think your dog staying outside is more comfortable for her, and she doesn't like being alone, then sleep outside with her. You can't take her pain away or make her better, but you can make her last night as comfortable as humanly possible.

Well the sleeping bag is out and my onesie and thick socks are on. She won't cuddle with me cos she hates feeling too warm, but my smell will make her happy

You are what so many floofs deserve, what a lovely thing to do. We had to have our lovely girl pts 5 years ago and she wanted to be outside too. You won’t regret doing this for her. You’re a good person @NotQuiteUsual 💐

My old dog has dementia and wakes up but can't get upstairs. Me and my dh tag team sleeping downstairs on the sofa with him. He's 16, and he deserves the company. Do it.
