AIBU? Will I get arrested

I’ve just come home from a girls night in London and it was so fun… we left the bar we was in and spent £1000 on brunch in and when we came back the security wouldn’t let us back in. Even though you could book a reservation online.

I was a bit frustrated and said but we’ve spent money in here all day and went to enjoy the rest of our day and spend more? Someone went to check and then another bouncer came out all angry ‘NO REENTRY’ and I asked about 6 times to speak to a manager, which I was told ‘no’ I probably got a bit annoyed but I never was violent or used any threats.

as I walked away I said ‘we’ll spend our money elsewhere then’ and that one bouncer said ‘yeh do!’

my friend went back and felt the need to apologise and the bouncers went ‘don’t worry it’s just him’ and she said she looked at his phone and it said ‘White female, aggressive, police called’

sorry? I wasn’t aggressive, anyway my friend managed to rebook a table in there to prove a point and we went back 30
minutes later and they let us in and we had a great time.

I’ve been up all night, I suffer with anxiety anyway and the police called bit is playing on my mind- my friend told me stop being silly and stop worrying as I’ve done nothing wrong.

but me being me, I’m ofc worrying!

They let you back in so what grounds would they have to press charges?

I highly doubt you would be arrested. The police are far too busy nowadays policing social media for hurty wordz 😉

The police van was already there and at no point you were approached by the police. So how would they "investigate" without actually talking to you? They are police, no secret service. Seriously, you need to stop drinking ..

Also the police don’t take much if any action these days we’ve reported two quite serious events over the last 5 years (dh rammed off his bike on purpose by an elderly posh man and a car being vandalised to the point of being written off). No action was taken either time by the police they couldn’t care less so think you are definitely ok!

I can guarantee you that the police do not waste time and resources settling petty arguments between drunk people and security staff. There'd have to be a police presence at every bar, pub and social venue in the land if they did.

Let's think it through: there was no violence, or threat thereof. No property was damaged or removed. No injuries reported. No disturbance to the wider locale. Also, let's not forget that they let you back in which shows there was no problem with the venue. Nothing illegal=no police. They'd be more annoyed with security for wasting their time on a civil matter that's a basic disagreement. You're allowed to argue with people.

IF the police were called (I suspect he just showed a fake message - really, who writes that shit in a phone during an argument? Nobody!) they had no grounds to even appear, and attendance by the police doesn't mean automatic arrest.

The time you just spent reading this should be the last thoughts you spare for this complete and utter non-event.

I wouldn’t worry. The police don’t have time to investigate actual crimes. I doubt there’s a case file open because some girl on a night out argued with a bouncer. If there is, I’ve lost any remaining faith in the police force.

It is unlikely the police were called at all. But if they did it will there will be CCTV so either

1. this was a massive overreaction from the security guard and any police involvement would conclude that

or

2. you behave poorly when drunk and have an issue that you do need to address in the cold light of day.

My wild guess is that the police will not be in touch but that you do have a problem. I could be wrong. Ask someone you trust to be brutally honest who knows you in real life if you aren’t sure.

I'd be more worried about the body cam footage ending up on the internet, that seems to be the thing nowadays.

He probably had that in his phone just incase something escalated and he needed it to go back on.

The police are not going to go back and trace someone from name/card payment/body cam etc, they have many more important things to do plus the doorman would not waste time calling them unless he really had to because it could take him away from his job longer.

The booze is making you catastrophize and without wanting to patronise you, if it’s making you do this then you’re drinking too much. I say this from a kind place, I would wake up after just drinking wine at home and find something to worry about all day even though there was nothing to worry about! I don’t drink that much anymore because it just made me feel crap physically and mentally.

Honestly, get on with your day and try to stop worrying about it, it’ll be ok, I promise.

I doubt very much Scotland Yard will be knocking on your door unless you were behaving appallingly or doing lines in front of everyone. I wouldn’t worry at all. £1000 spent in one bar…? Impressive!

You're friend was probably mistaken. Unlikely she could even read someone else's phone without them showing her when drunk. It also sounds like a total non-event where alcohol is involved. I think the door man and the police have much bigger things to deal with on a Saturday night than a woman complaining about not bring allowed back in a bar.
