AIBU? Will I get arrested

I’ve just come home from a girls night in London and it was so fun… we left the bar we was in and spent £1000 on brunch in and when we came back the security wouldn’t let us back in. Even though you could book a reservation online.

I was a bit frustrated and said but we’ve spent money in here all day and went to enjoy the rest of our day and spend more? Someone went to check and then another bouncer came out all angry ‘NO REENTRY’ and I asked about 6 times to speak to a manager, which I was told ‘no’ I probably got a bit annoyed but I never was violent or used any threats.

as I walked away I said ‘we’ll spend our money elsewhere then’ and that one bouncer said ‘yeh do!’

my friend went back and felt the need to apologise and the bouncers went ‘don’t worry it’s just him’ and she said she looked at his phone and it said ‘White female, aggressive, police called’

sorry? I wasn’t aggressive, anyway my friend managed to rebook a table in there to prove a point and we went back 30
minutes later and they let us in and we had a great time.

I’ve been up all night, I suffer with anxiety anyway and the police called bit is playing on my mind- my friend told me stop being silly and stop worrying as I’ve done nothing wrong.

but me being me, I’m ofc worrying!

You need to lay off the drinks if it makes you argue with randoms on nights out and spend £1000 on brunch.

It was the security guard 😩 I don’t argue with randoms, I had a great time and there was 15 of us, so I don’t think £65 each is unreasonable for a 3 course meal and cocktail brunch

if you were going to get arrested it would have happened at the bar. Go get some sleep and stop worrying about something that won’t happen.

That’s what I’m hoping for, but I’ve got myself into a tizz of what if they investigate it or something before arresting me. The table for brunch was in my name. Ugh!!!

thing is, if my friend hadn’t seen ‘police called’ I wouldn’t have expected it to turn to that because although I was frustrated, I wasnt violent or giving threats. It’s just because my friend saw that

I don’t think you’ll be at the top of the Met’s priority list this morning!

You have hangover anxiety. Have some tea and toast and go for a long walk.

I agree, but my mind is telling me they may arrest me in a few days

Honestly, the police have more pressing things to deal with. To them, you were just a person that had too much to drink and got a bit mouthy at someone. This happens just about everywhere on a Saturday night. Once you’ve slept on it, It won’t feel so terrible.

So you think it’s unlikely I’ll get a call / a visit from the police regarding this

You booked a table and went back 30 minutes later? Thats the oddest thing about the situation, especially after your friend saw a message saying the Police had been called.

It is highly unlikely. What is more likely is if you tried to book at the bar again they may refuse it. Not to worry, London is full of great bars.

Hi lovely girl! This sounds a lot like my OCD. You won’t get arrested. His view of your ‘aggression’ is subjective and the only thing they’d have arrested you for would be drunk and disorderly and you’re home now and very stable. Doesn’t even meet the threshold I don’t think 😆

if you’d physically harmed someone there’d be a warrant out for your arrest, but not just for getting a bit annoyed with a bouncer 😆

RMAC67 · Today 06:16

Arrested for what? Arguing isn’t a crime. You wouldn’t have been allowed back in if you had of really kicked off. Maybe the message was about someone else. Calling the police for what you described would have been completely OTT.

It’s hangxiety, just try and rationalise with yourself and get through today.

Thank you lovely, I wouldn’t have even thought about the police if my friend hadn’t mentioned it - because we got back in the bar later, it’s only when I got home and she said ‘I’m shocked you got back in, because his phone had this’ she was laughing about it and followed it with ‘because you don’t nothing wrong, he was just getting tricky and throwing his weight around’ ugh.

What do you think you will be arrested for? Sounds like you are embarrassed about your behaviour though but you don’t get arrested for having a bad attitude.

Edited

That’s why I’m like ‘did I have a black out and do something bad’ because I agree, I wouldn’t have even thought about it if my friend hadn’t mentioned because yeh, OTT. Now my mind is playing on it. My friends said I done nothing wrong, one of them in the group chat said ‘what are they going to arrest you for? Wanting to spend your money in a bar and asking for a manager when they said no’

Alcohol induced anxiety is a thing, If you’re an anxious person usually the booze will have elevated this. Slim to no chance the Met will do anything, even if a police report was made.

‘White female’ is hardly a detailed character profile 😬

Ugh I know, but I think they had body cams, and also my name was in the previous booking - so they could find me quite easily 😩😩😩

I honestly don’t think I done anything worth calling the police for….

If the police arrested belligerent people who argue with bouncers that’s all they’d ever do. The prisons would be full of Mandy who left her shoe in the toilet and Andy who couldn’t get into the club because he was wearing the wrong colour jeans. Put it out of your mind. No police arrived at the scene and no arrests were made.

Orangelulu · Today 06:24

How did your friend look at the security guards phone?
How would the police find you if 'white female' is all they have to go off? 🤔

Ticktockk · Today 06:26

It’s probably either:

  • your friend is lying/joking/drunk and misread it
  • the note was about someone else
Regardless, they’re not going to arrest you unless you committed an actual crime. They’re not even going to investigate it because it was such a benign event and they are extremely busy.
RosesAndHellebores · Today 06:27

@mumlearningtorun how do you know the phone message, of which you know third hand, was about you? Indeed if it existed at all?

PollyBell · Today 06:27

Arrested for what? If alcohol makes you this paranoid stop drinking

HazelBite · Today 06:27

OP my son is with the Met, believe me on a Saturday night in London you've got to do far worse than argue with a bouncer to get arrested!!
Calm down, and in future don't drink so much if it makes you argumentative and "aggressive"

bettyrubble99 · Today 06:28

My husband is security guard and a door supervisor on a weekend. He would never have got the police involved for such a small matter.
At Pride weekend a few years ago, he got battered round the head with a high heel after a lady was been rude to to act on stage and wouldn't leave when asked. A co worker had to escort her out & she went nuts when my husband said she couldn't come back in. He needed 8 stitches.
Don't worry about it. The police have far more pressing matters happening on a Saturday night to deal with x

She went back over and the other security guards went ‘it’s him’ and when she turned he had his phone visibly open and she saw what he was typing because he walked over to the police van that was already there.

they had body cams & also the name in the booking previously was my name
