If he and his co director actually laughed about it then both the dynamics of the company and of your H's views about appropriate work relatiionships are totally unhealthy and you should be worried about his boundaries in your marriage as well.

I'm usually fairly relaxed about work stuff but that is weird even for me.

What sort of business is it? Just thinking if it’s a bank or solicitors etc it is a bit dry and would be weird, perhaps if it’s a gym/salon/showroom it may be a bit less stuffy

I have been nervous many times in interview. At no point did I express ( or feel, for that matter) any attraction to my employer.
