Agreed. You can’t rescind a job offer once you’ve offered cake every Friday to the new employee. That would be too silly, regardless of any crushing coming forth. It wasn’t only the dh in the room presumably?

Given the ‘cake’ context it’s a little less weird, and could be considered banter in a sales environment type thing? Would be wholly inappropriate in my working world though, and I suspect most.
