Next week it’s going to forecast rain and cooler weather. Yay! Dreading the next few days beforehand

No one should moan about it raining until the grass has turned green.

Agree completely. Can’t wait for some proper rain. Although if it then rains solidly for weeks I do reserve the right to start moaning once everything turns to swamp!

Poppinpoppinpopcorn · 12/08/2026 08:37

Your not being unreasonable at all, we need the rain. I've just looked at the weather map for next week fir my area, yesterday it said rain all week but now it's saying slight rain but only for one day. I dont think we will be seeing that much rain.

Neuronimo · 12/08/2026 08:38

I'm going to dance in it!

BirdLandedonmyHead · 12/08/2026 08:39

Another one doing a rain dance!
I bet all the fire fighters are equally excited.

OriginalSkang · 12/08/2026 08:39

There is a 30% chance of rain on one day here. Its not going to rain!

Yes, that was my thought. I'll believe it (the rain) when I see it.

UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyself · 12/08/2026 08:41

Where are you that has rain forecast? Nothing here….

ownedbymydogs · 12/08/2026 08:41

I live just outside London and this summer has nearly finished me off.

If there’s one good thing to come out of it is (hopefully) more scrutiny of the egregiously criminal behaviour of the water companies. From the multi million pound salaries and bonuses of the shameless Thames Water bosses, to the ex Southern Water boss being charged with manipulating the results of water quality tests it’s just a decades long saga of utter contempt for the environment and the people who pay bills.

I’m no anarchist but I know who I’d put first against the wall when the revolution comes!

RhosynCymru · 12/08/2026 08:42

After the hell we’ve had for the last almost four months I never want to hear anyone whine we “never get a summer “! It’s driven me to a mental breakdown as well as making me very physically ill and on a wider scale I am extremely worried about the consequences on wildlife, crops, etc. Rain is not my favourite weather as the only weather I like is cold, dry and frosty (not that i think I’ll see that ever again) but I appreciate we desperately need a lot of rain and anticipate that in a desperate attempt to balance itself out, nature will supply an absolute deluge later this year.

ojhdddhjs76 · 12/08/2026 08:44

I’ll believe it when I see it, there’s only one day with around 50% chance next week, that’s come up before and it hasn’t turned to anything. It’s also still over 20C all week (although I’m happy with that!)

SadiraOfTyr · 12/08/2026 08:47

One day with a 30% chance of rain for 3 hours here. I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s rained twice here since mid-June. Both times for less than 10 minutes and although it was quite heavy it evaporated within the hour and the soil remained dust.

CookieDoughJoe · 12/08/2026 08:49

I’m in an area where there hasn’t been a shortage of rain so I demand a free pass to moan when it does rain again.

Mooselander · 12/08/2026 08:49

YABU. I’ll moan as much as I want about rain because I hate the rain and love it hot, hot, hot.

Neuronimo · 12/08/2026 08:49

Yes we've had a couple of fires one serious.

friedaklein · 12/08/2026 08:50

London. I will believe it when I see it.
It's a mirage.

NearlyNewNonny · 12/08/2026 08:51

Light rain Monday and Tuesday here. As long as I don't have to water my plants I'm happy.

MotherofPufflings · 12/08/2026 08:52

I do agree, but I'm also worried about the potential for surface water flooding the first time it rains hard. The ground is so dry it won't sink in.

FOJN · 12/08/2026 08:53

Do people take complaints about the weather seriously? I always thought it was a bit of a joke that we complained so much about something we can't change. I shall look forward to everyone complaining just as soon as they think we've had enough rain for now.

If the first lot of rain is a downpour then the ground is too hard to soak the water in.

OP posts:
squashyhat · 12/08/2026 08:57

There will be a huge amount of runoff and flooding when it does rain because the ground is so hard. Storm drains which councils have not taken the opportunity to clear will not cope. And still idiots pave over driveways, install plastic grass and chop down trees.

MyPantsAreFartCentral · 12/08/2026 08:58

I'm in Brum and desperate for rain. I'm visiting my friend next week in Glasgow and really hope it rains 😂

Pedant61 · 12/08/2026 08:59

Oh I might, because I have loved having a Proper Summer, and I don't want it to end! (I do know that farmers need rain, but why can't the rest of us just enjoy what we have?).

First 6-8 weeks of this year it was constant rain.
I work in an office which is 15 miles away. On the A road which I drive for about 5 miles, the fields either side were flooded. Six months later, the fields are desert

2026letsgo · 12/08/2026 09:04

It can rain overnight.
Thats as far as I’m going.

MightyGoldBear · 12/08/2026 09:05

I am praying for rain.
One of my children has additional needs who has no tolerance for the heat and neither do I. We desperately need it to cool down properly so we aren't housebound anymore. I am utterly exhausted managing meltdowns and violent outbursts.

I will be dancing out in the rain if it does materialise.
