Next week it’s going to forecast rain and cooler weather. Yay! Dreading the next few days beforehand

No one should moan about it raining until the grass has turned green.

None forecast where I am. Yay!

I'm in Brum and desperate for rain. I'm visiting my friend next week in Glasgow and really hope it rains 😂

Oh, it will 😀. And here in Scotland we’ll moan about the rain as much as we like, thanks. We haven’t had a heatwave. “Everywhere” isn’t just the south of England.

flippinnorastights · 12/08/2026 09:07

Whilsr I absolutely appreciate we need rain I’ll be so upset when summer is over. It has been just wonderful I’ve enjoyed every second of it

AndyKitten · 12/08/2026 09:08

OriginalSkang · 12/08/2026 08:39

There is a 30% chance of rain on one day here. Its not going to rain!

Wash out your mouth!

Rain thoughts, please.

2026letsgo · 12/08/2026 09:10

After the hell we’ve had for the last almost four months

I take issue with this hyperbole. I live in the driest hottest bit of the uk.
Mays weather was shit up to half term which was the first of the heatwaves. It then cooled down. So a week.

June and July have been reliably hot and dry. We are week 2 of August.

So literally spring was wet and cold and summer has been hot and dry.

Baskingintheheat · 12/08/2026 09:10

Good luck with that OP. Complaining about the weather is the UK's national sport.

Oh I might, because I have loved having a Proper Summer, and I don't want it to end! (I do know that farmers need rain, but why can't the rest of us just enjoy what we have?).

Because, whether you care or not, all around you birds, insects and animals are dying. That's the reality. Ask yourself why farmers need rain; it's so that you have food to eat. And it's not just about growing crops, it's about feeding animals to produce milk and meat and having decent soil to start sowing crops for next year. You can't just ignore the realities just because you want a "proper summer", which, by the way, this absolutely isn't.
You'll be eating your words when you find your grocery bill has risen horrifically.

Mooselander · 12/08/2026 08:49

YABU. I’ll moan as much as I want about rain because I hate the rain and love it hot, hot, hot.

Edited

You love it even more especially in England, when life becomes harder because this becomes a regular summer thing and food prices start going up along with water bills and the rest of it.🙄

Not just SE England. I am in Wales and it hasn't rained for weeks/months apart from one day two or three weeks ago. There is another day of rain forecast next week. That is it for the near future. The temperature today will be 33 degrees. We desperately need rain.

Amandatelly · 12/08/2026 09:14

I just feel bad for the farmers, because they seem fucked either way.

Yes, I remember Spring (usually my favourite weather) being a bit rubbish this year?

latetothefisting · 12/08/2026 09:15

I voted yabu for giving false hope!

I wouldnt moan at all if there was rain but bbc weather shows "light rain" for ONE day out of the next 14 by me....

Linetree · 12/08/2026 09:16

I was in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games. It was lovely to be cold and wet (and see green grass). I didn't moan.

BashfulClam · 12/08/2026 09:17

We’ve still had rain in my area ofScotland so we can moan. It was torrential on Sunday morning.

Yes, weeks and weeks of rain and now this. I feel sorry for all of us too because as pp said, food prices will increase.

ojhdddhjs76 · 12/08/2026 09:18

Spring was fine where we are, we had some nice weather early in spring (I know because we had our garden done in autumn and I’d been anxiously excited to dig out the garden furniture, and we got some good use of it). The run up to the heat wave in May was rubbish though, we were away but I remember people saying they were putting their heating on the first week of our holiday, then we landed home into a heatwave!

Saying it’s been 4 months of hell is ridiculously dramatic and why people get fed up hearing that level of inaccurate moaning.

ojhdddhjs76 · 12/08/2026 09:18

(Absolutely understand farmers moaning and people concerned about food prices etc).

Scrubwren · 12/08/2026 09:19

After eighteen months living in the ME, I returned to England with a newfound enthusiasm for drizzle, rain of all kinds, actual seasons that weren’t just “hot’ vs ‘way hotter’, and long twilights. My friends have a very amused memory of me visibly having a great time during a rather damp picnic on a beach near Whitstable.

You're in luck, forecast is rain Monday to Friday up here.

TheJuryIsOut · 12/08/2026 09:20

It's rained here several times this week already, we also haven't had the insane temperatures so I'll complain all I like 😂

VivIsBlonde · 12/08/2026 09:23

Hope this weather continues, it’s still not hot enough for me though!
I would love it if it’s 35c or hotter 12 months of the year, I’m in the West Country and I’ve yet to set foot on the beach because it’s not warm enough for me

WildLeader · 12/08/2026 09:24

Could it? Will it?

our weather forecast is for 65% chance of moderate rain on Monday….

it’s a long time until then… 🤞

Agree, there are some really thick people on MN banging on about how wonderful it all is. They really are ignorant if they think this year is a one off for extreme heat.
We can't always 'just import foods' because other countries are in the same position as us. and will need more for their own people. Food prices will go up on many things, people will be complaining they can't buy xyz - really? There was no rain to help grow the bloody stuff. But we have the heat to who cares if there is a shortage on certain foods come winter? If the same happens next year and the crops fail again through lack of rain we could really be in the shit.
I was talking with someone the other day who said if the crops fail and there is a bread shortage she would go over to eating muffins or cereals like Weetabix. What a total fuckwit. When I pointed out about wheat might not be sp plentiful so less bakery and cereal products available she looked at me as if I was the stupid one. "Well, Tesco will always have bread and what I need to buy" was the response. You can'r argue with idiots.
Okay love, keep your ignorant head up your ignorant arse.

sorryIdidntmeanto · 12/08/2026 09:25

I thought the concern was that we are getting hot, dry summers and wet winters? I think climate change is a worry, and if it rains a lot in winter we should be complaining/worrying just as much as if it is hot all Summer.

BestZebbie · 12/08/2026 09:25

Njuy · 12/08/2026 08:59

First 6-8 weeks of this year it was constant rain.
I work in an office which is 15 miles away. On the A road which I drive for about 5 miles, the fields either side were flooded. Six months later, the fields are desert

This is also the issue with replanting gardens after plants die in the heatwaves - no point using drought tolerant plants that will just immediately die from being too wet and cold all winter, but most suited for those conditions will die in the heat next summer…..,
