Vinted buyers who don’t hit everything okay

AIBU to be really pissed off?!

I sold an item for £55. Not an insignificant amount of cash. Everything was packaged perfectly and she’s said there’s nothing wrong with the item but won’t press everything is okay! What’s the point?!

unreasonable to be pissed off about this.

your buyer is complying with the rules of the platform, rules you also accept. that's it.

it's unreasonable to make assumptions that she has the time or inclination to 'press a button', just because you want her to.

your only expectation can be to follow vinteds rules.

Newstart3 · Today 08:37

I always press the button straight away, there has been the odd time I have forgot but 99 percent I do. However if people don't when I sell things I don't get as irate as you about it as you will get the money in a few days anyway. Maybe vinted is not for you for it it's going to wind you up so much. She is letting the system take care of it and she is allowed to!

WildLeader · Today 08:39

Omg! The number of people who won’t take the time to click accept so that the payment goes through? I’m appalled!

so many of you are happy to click buy, and all the other stages to get the seller to send it, I dare say you’ll take the time to try the bloody thing on, clicking accept when your phone is already within your reach is the least you can do!

Rude!

it wouldn’t ever occur to me to not click accept

except if I’m a bit pissed off. Like when i bought a top and cardi where the cami top was listed as silk and it was rayon. I liked them both and wanted to keep them, but i was expecting silk. That seller waited for auto accept.

And if you’re so worried about money then you need to use a different channel. You sign up for Vinted and it’s associated T&Cs.

You wouldn’t hassle a seller to send something immediately after you’ve paid for it.

Buyers do that all the time.

It’s things like this that put me off using sites like Vinted, as far as I’m concerned it’s business transaction, why would you need to confirm ok? Surely it’s ok unless stated otherwise because it should be ok. I found Vinted far too much faff to bother with, I prefer the charity shops

people need to accept it because the condition could be worse than described, there could be a fault or holes or something. The size could be wrong - not just a small 12, but a totally different size etc.

Why should a person not take their time and try the item on when it suits them? It’s a bloody buying and selling platform, not community service, of course the buyer is entitled to do things when it suits them 😂

Cosyblankets · Today 08:48

When I get the message that says parcel arrived you will get your payment on Monday at 1512 or whatever if it goes in before then it's a bonus.

Q2C4 · Today 08:49

@vintedannoyedif bring paid out faster is your key priority then I'd recommend switching to eBay.

MaturingCheeseball · Today 08:51

I’ve just bought something on Vinted. Where is this button? I guess I have not signed up to notifications so I am spared angry sellers wanting their £2 immediately.

I would be a bit raised eyebrow at a seller messaging me asking if something is all right. It’s hassling someone - like when online retailers repeatedly pester you for feedback.

If someone asks me to post something quickly (I always do anyway) I don’t mind - I’ve never had a rude buyer. Perhaps it depends on the quality of items one is selling [runs and hides from OP….]

Looking for flaws is one thing but you’re not entitled to return if it doesn’t fit, so long as it’s listed correctly.

that's so rude

It's such an odd mindset to think "fuck them, they can wait for their money" when people have sold and send their items in good faith.

It's not time, it takes none and people wouldn't be on MN if they were that busy, it's a very strange attitude to be unpleasant for the sake of it.

sweetpickle2 · Today 09:49

I am honestly amazed that people take so much time to inspect their vinted purchases. Most of the time I've spent less than a tenner, I usually take it out of the packaging and check it is what they said it is, then I hit accept.

If I try it on and it doesn't fit, then I wouldn't be able to raise that with the buyer anyway.

it's the button in the conversation about that item, the entire selling history.

You don't need a reminder, why wouldn't you confirm you have the item and the funds can be released?

The button appears in the chat with the seller once the item has been delivered. I don't have any notifications on my entire phone and I still see the button.

No one said you’re entitled to a return if it doesn’t fit, just as you aren’t entitled to your funds immediately.

thesugarbumfairy · Today 09:56

Its irritating, but I don't sweat too much about it. FWIW I always hit the button after I've checked my purchase - unless its an annoying seller. Then I just leave it to auto accept. That's my passive agressive stance 😂

The item not fitting isn't a reason to return. That can be refused or agreed at the discretion of the seller but it's not mandatory to accept a return for that reason. The item just needs to be as described. As a buyer, I always press to say everything is ok as I know it can be annoying to wait the 2 days, but those are rules of Vinted and a minor inconvenience. Some people will press immediately, some won't and there's nothing you can do. I would never ask a buyer to press it, likewise, I wouldn't ask a seller to hurry up and post.

No part of my post states a buyer can return if it doesn’t fit, but posters are moaning about “buyers taking their time” to open look at/ try on a parcel. Of course they can take their time, what an utterly ridiculous complaint!

But the point is trying on the parcel is neither here nor there in terms of whether or not you can state 'everything is okay' as per Vinted's terms. So taking your time to do this is futile and intentionally delaying payment as a result is unreasonable, in my opinion.

Of course look at it whenever you want to look at it, nobody is saying you shouldn't, but once you have looked at it then press the button.

Shinyandnew1 · Today 10:10

If the seller is rude or tells me to press the button, I will leave it to auto accept as well.

Hotcurrent · Today 10:14

vintedannoyed · Today 06:58

I think messaging to ask if it’s alright, and then saying yes, should be enough for them to realise they should press the button!

But it maybe it was because she might not have known it was necessary or it might just have slipped her mind. Either way, rather than jump to assuming she cruelly wanted to deprive you from money for 2 days, you could have just followed up with “please could you confirm no issues thanks”

Hotcurrent · Today 10:15

You sounds like a very prolific vinted user @vintedannoyed
Is this something that happens often or was this the first time?

parkezvous · Today 10:19

I always accept it as soon as I’ve opened it and am happy. Most people sell to make a bit of extra cash, why wouldn’t you just release the funds as soon as you can? Odd not to.

I mean I would hazard a guess that most people aren’t taking the time to inspect an item if they don’t even have time to try it in.

You can keep claiming it’s unreasonable all you want but the actual platform disagrees with you.

The platform gives you the option to hit the 'everything is okay' button before the 3 days auto times out, so I'm not sure it is as black and white as you think.

As said upthread I often inspect the item long before I try it on- takes two mins to take it out of the packet, check the size, have a look. But clearly everyone is different.
