Vinted buyers who don’t hit everything okay

AIBU to be really pissed off?!

I sold an item for £55. Not an insignificant amount of cash. Everything was packaged perfectly and she’s said there’s nothing wrong with the item but won’t press everything is okay! What’s the point?!

Sure. But if you’re in the chat, confirming everything is okay, and then don’t press it, it’s rude.

I’m not sure actually, as I’ve never done it myself… I guess probably as someone must have to pay for the return. It doesn’t seem I lose anything but time and effort with a triple visit to the post.

Sorry, that was me jumping on thread for a rant of my own! Re: the OP, I do think it’s good etiquette to hit the okay button as soon as you reasonably can so people get paid asap.

Agree. Vinted certainly don't- their charges are so high compared to ebay. Would rather it went to the seller ASAP than sat in Vinted's bank account earning them interest.

Do the people who don't bother also keep tradesmen waiting to pay invoices? The end result is the same.

I thought the seller got paid after it auto approves?

I don’t have the Vinted app on my phone, so unless I happen to use my iPad in the relevant window I don’t press it either.

It’s things like this that put me off using sites like Vinted, as far as I’m concerned it’s business transaction, why would you need to confirm ok? Surely it’s ok unless stated otherwise because it should be ok. I found Vinted far too much faff to bother with, I prefer the charity shops

I feel salty about experiences like this too. The time to check how soon someone will post something is before they've accepted your offer, not after they've knocked off money for you.
If they were ordering from a shop they'd have to pay extra for express delivery.

What would you have done for money if the item hadn't sold though?

That is where eBay is better because you get paid the day after the purchase is made.
i also think it’s rude not to press the button that everything is ok as soon as you receive and check the item. A lot of sellers want the money asap, that’s why they sell.

Of course sellers get their money if the buyer doesn’t press the button; they just need to wait for a couple of days.

why do you want to wait for anything?

Open your parcel and click ok. How hard can that be. It would take you less time than it took you to write that post.

It’s nothing to do with manners, sellers have 5 days to post, the buyer has half that time to ensure the item is inspected and that they’re happy with it. Thats really all there is to it.

But I think the point is if you have checked it why wouldn’t you just confirm? Lots here seem to be implying they never click the button even if they’re happy with the purchase.

Because they haven’t checked the item, because the item smells, because it doesn’t quite match the description, because the condition is slightly scruffy, because it was posted right at the end of the window, because they forgot, because they can’t be bothered.
People have listed all sorts of reasons, but all that really matters is they don’t have to so sellers are wrong to get arsey about it when Vinted are very clear about their terms.

It’s not the same at all because the buyer has already paid, they paid before the seller even has to do interning. The seller is in a contract with Vinted, which they have willingly agreed to enter.
Its like complaining it takes X time for the tradespersons funds to clear in their account even though the transaction has already completed on the customer’s side.

No you are not being unreasonable at all! I hate it too. I’ve been on the bones of my arse sometimes and just that fiver would get me to work and get me lunch the next day. People have no idea of the seller’s financial situation, they might NEED to be selling their belongings. With that in mind, is pressing one button really that big a bloody hardship?

As an aside, if you are a size 6 and you’re selling a size 18 dress, please don’t feel you have to model it 😬 I’m sure you look lovely but it’s no reflection of what my fat arse is going look like is it?

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough by saying “if you’ve checked it” that I’m talking about people who have checked the item. Of course if you haven’t you wouldn’t click it.

Similarly if there’s something wrong with it then you wouldn’t click it either, but you wouldn’t just let the clock run down either you’d raise it with the seller? Anyway likewise I am not talking about those people.

If you have checked it and all is okay why wouldn’t you click it? Lots of people here implying they wouldn’t click it even if they had checked it and all was okay.

But in the OP’s case the buyer had checked the item, and had confirmed to her via the conversation that everything was ok. So it was simply a case of pressing ‘everything is ok’. That’s the scenario the OP is asking about.

I never ever check. It’s all automatic. I had no idea how much was in my account… just checked and a tasty £650!
