M&S stocks loads of other brands online.

Ann Summers lingerie is one of dozens of brands they sell online. Doesn’t seem like any kind of big deal to me. They’re just knickers. It’s not like they’re stocking whips and dildos.

gerries · 29/07/2026 01:24

Really not seeing how this is a big deal?

PollyBell · 29/07/2026 01:25

Would be cheaper to go to the dental aisle at boots for some dental tape but apart from eewww gross I wouldnt buy it sounds revolting not sure the problem

EBearhug · 29/07/2026 01:31

There's not much to thongs anyway, so what's left if they're crotchless?

I do think of M&S as the home of sensible cotton undies, though, even though I have bought silk knickers there.

Pineapplesonpizza · 29/07/2026 01:32

Oh come on, all the 'What's the big deal?' replies are so ridiculous. M+S underwear dept is the home of stout, solid, granny pants and comfy bras. Not porn knickers ffs.

Ladybirdheard · 29/07/2026 01:40

Omg I got that advert too! About ten minutes ago. I was like, wtf is going on with my algorithm 😂 then the next item shown was a smart black work dress!

FairKoala · 29/07/2026 01:54

I am trying to work out what they look like.

Could I suggest saving your money and going commando. It would be a lot more comfy

WTF would the point of a crotchless thong be? Where been would the fabric from the front go through to the thong part? 🤣

Toomucktoo · 29/07/2026 02:02

just popped up on my FB 🫪 Cannot see the point of them!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 29/07/2026 02:08

They're lingerie not everyday wear.
You put them on for the foreplay/sex, the crotchless means they don't have to come off.
It's a bit of sexy fun, you can change back into the big comfies after!

Well I quite liked their dinner specials that have main, 2 sides, dessert with a suggested bottle of wine, some flowers and a box of chocs now and then as a treat that signals sexy fun night at home. Their food halls have some things that are a bit moreish.

If you have to wear a crotchless thong to get the guy in the mood it sounds pretty desperate to me.

ALovelyPinkUnicorn · 29/07/2026 03:51

What are they selling for the guy to wear for the “bit of sexy fun”?

SummerSummerSummertime · 29/07/2026 03:54

Perhaps it’s for the best that some of you don’t look at the rest of the interweb!

ClayPotaLot · 29/07/2026 04:33

What even is a crotchless thong? Sounds like a piece of string hanging between your cheeks at the rear and a Tarzan flap at the front!

I get the shock, OP. Doesn't have to mean you think it's depraved or the end of civilization. It's just very much not in keeping with them being the place to turn for good basics that work!

TemuSussex · 29/07/2026 04:56

I just got this ad too, ewww!

And here is me thinking whipping our knickers off is all it takes

At least you didnt go for 'sexy time' i suppose

Globules · 29/07/2026 05:35

I've not seen this ad. I now feel like I'm missing out.

Tbh, if you have seen the ad, it says a lot about your search history - something has generated the algorithms that have deemed this ad to be of likely interest to you.

maxslice · 29/07/2026 06:17

They’re a business. Apparently, this kind of thing sells. End of.

I have tried regular thongs a time or two. They were very uncomfortable and absolutely useless. I have hair bands with more
fabric. I’m all for what a former flatmate called
”company lingerie”, but as an everyday garment, crotched or crotchless, thongs are just silly

What if the woman is wearing one to get in the mood??

I wouldn’t them wear one but there’s nothing wrong with dressing a certain way for your partner if you are both comfortable and willing and your comment is judgy and makes you sound closed minded.

Well if something keeps closed it wouldnt help much I suppose

It’s a bit of fun and something different it doesn’t mean your partner can only get it up with a pair of knickers. Some people like to do fun things in bed

It sounds desperate to me but I understand everybody is different and there wouldn't be a market for crotchless thongs if some people weren't prepared to wear them. Each to their own.
