Doom scrolling on fb as cant sleep.
An advert pops up on my feed from M&S for crotchless thongs. Have I actually fallen asleep and am dreaming ?! WTAF is M&S thinking?!! They appear to be stocking Anne Summers-talk about rebrand of underwear dept!

It's less of a problem than them constantly changing my favourite bras. They could sell sex swings and ball gags if they'd just stop meddling with my bras.

Esmeraldathe3rd · Today 10:40

I've always considered crotchless thongs to be more for the woman, keeping covered up abit boosts some people confidence.

I'm sure people that shop at m and s have sex, and wear underwear

Mygardenshedisfallingdown · Today 10:43

I'm😆 at the thought of crotchless thongs along side the granny pants in M&S.
I bet some of the older visitors have a) had a fit of the vapours seeing them or b) have bought some to get their elderly h going.😆

I can't believe there are posters equating crotchless thongs with sex dolls and desperation 😂

Wait until you find out that they sell bras that can be...taken off! 😮 to do sex! 😮

They are made so that you can leave the pretty thong on during sex, not a big deal!

I’m always dubious of props too though. What does it add?

Nothing sexier imo than normal, comfy underwear (on the bedroom floor) and two people with healthy libidos and imaginations.

Hideous. Has anyone ever found a comfortable thong ?

Who on God's green earth turns to M&S for sexy fun????? Please can there be one little corner of England where I don't have to run the gauntlet of sexy fun? Too mcuch to ask?

Snorted out loud at this… I 💯 agree with you, but your absolute outrage just made me laugh!

TickedOffAndALittleFedUp · Today 11:16

Crotchless thongs are pointless surely there's not enough to them. Now crotchless full coverage briefs I'd understand though not sure why anyone would ever need such a thing. Aware I've slightly missed the point of the thread though. Slightly grim they're on sale at all never mind at M&S

I got this ad too. I think I've got thrush just looking at the picture.

I moved to John Lewis massive knickers, after the quality of M&S' went downhill recently. Much better.

favmlfub · Today 11:30

I got the ad as well, they were also selling fake stick on nipples 🤣

Why would you get thrush from crotchless underkecks?

Thanks for the link - I didn’t want to google that 😂

I still can’t work out from those pictures how the two front straps connect into one thong at the back without interrupting the crotchless part! Mystifying!

The two front straps join a little later than usual perhaps? With a pearl at the junction perhaps, as a PP has referenced pearls.

I’m another that struggles with getting dressed for sex. It’s contradictory.

There's not much to thongs anyway, so what's left if they're crotchless?

I do think of M&S as the home of sensible cotton undies, though, even though I have bought silk knickers there.

You could fashion the same from a couple of hair ties.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · Today 11:44

These seem unnecessarily graphic 🤣

Can they keep it out of house I dont want to be put off buying m&s food, shudder

Do they keep the undies with the food in your M&S?

smallglassbottle · Today 11:52

I suppose it means you don't have to take your pants off for the smear test or visit to the gynaecologist and you can answer the door quickly if the doorbell goes. They sound eminently practical.

Livpool · Today 11:54

Gladitsraining · Today 07:05

It sounds desperate to me but I understand everybody is different and there wouldn't be a market for crotchless thongs if some people weren't prepared to wear them. Each to their own.

I wouldn’t wear them ( I do not have the arse for things) but why is it desperate to wear something you and your partner might feel sexy?

May as well just go pantless then. What is the point of crotchless thongs if it's not a piece of sex clothing. Dumbing down of Marks and Spencer again.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · Today 11:57

I don’t want to shop in a place which sells porn pants.
Total disrespect to their longterm customer base in favour of chasing new markets.

exhaustedandoverit · Today 11:59

I’m absolutely baffled. Why is someone buying sexy underwear from M&S an issue? I’ve had plenty of lacy scraps of nothing from there over the years. Admittedly nothing crotchless, I have those from agent provocateur. They don’t get worn often but it’s a bit of fun.

They’re still selling the apple catchers and full cover bras in addition. I bought some last week for comfier days.

Thongs are comfy if you have the right size and material. Tesco have some lovely ones that don’t chafe or dig in. All crotchless do is have a slit down the gusset that usually overlaps, they aren’t made smaller in any way 😂

Livpool · Today 12:01

honeylulu · Today 09:34

I was a bit surprised by the advert too. M&S was traditionally known for sensible sturdy pants. Ann Summers for fun/sexy lingerie.

I will say that I have bought some (non crotchless) knickers from AS and they are actually decent quality - well made and comfortable.

I really can't see the point of crotchless pants though. Surely the whole point of pants is to cover the undercarriage . Just save the cash and go commando surely?

You can leave your nice knickers on during sex 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh come on, all the 'What's the big deal?' replies are so ridiculous. M+S underwear dept is the home of stout, solid, granny pants and comfy bras. Not porn knickers ffs.

thankfully they have increased their offer, not everyone wants "solid granny pants". They are allowed to get basics a bit less depressing than "granny pants" for those who want them

who cares if they also sell crotchless whatever?

If we want M&S to exist, they need to sell and be successful. Widening their offer is exactly what they should do.
