Rude text? Or a valid ‘joke’

Melmel2 · Today 12:29

My boyfriend stayed over last night, I was clear with him I had a very early WFH meeting and would need him to be gone by 9. He was, but text me mid morning to say ‘bit gutted I had to leave, I was expecting cornflakes and a quick wank’

I told him I was clear I started work at 9 and needed the flat clear so no interruptions.

He replied saying ‘haha obviously joking, it’s a famous film line’. I’ve never heard of it and he hasn’t replied to tell me which one it’s from.

Would anyone else find that rude?

It isn't the word that's offensive, it's his expectation that she should be sexually available to him, at his beck and call.

JFC get a grip on reality

Get a grip on …… what?

🤣🤣🤣

If providing breakfast I would expect some nice, mutual, loving morning sex and the tea made before I surface. Women are not wank and breakfast machines. I'd dump him, he's immature.

Edited

Have you never done or said anything immature? Never made a lame joke? Never been just a teensy weensy bit silly? Or dirty? Or just a little bit naughty? Are you fun at parties?

JeremiaBoogle · Today 19:03

I think Danny Dywer being a porn star had to be my favourite thing on this thread. If we collectively maintain it's true, it could end a Mandela Effect memory.

You posted this twice.

You have to watch the clip. The joke has literally nothing to do with the OP being sexually available.

It's mildly amusing. Neither side-splittingly hilarious nor the height of disgustingness. It would no doubt have been funnier if he had included the clip.

He should have simply said, “ there’s a line from a film about this” , & left it at that. He obviously has little taste, quoting something said by Mr. Dyer…

He obviously has little taste, quoting something said by Mr. Dyer…

You know he's an actor, right? Paid to say lines someone else has written. Not a sage fount of wisdom for the ages.

He has now told me it’s a Danny Dyer quote, and I can’t say it makes me feel any better about it. Crude and disrespectful.

Edited

you don't really sound like you like him. you don't need a reason to not be with him, you're allowed to just dump him cos you want to

Lexy2345 · Today 19:27

It was a joke for goodness sake

It isn't the word that's offensive, it's his expectation that she should be sexually available to him, at his beck and call.

But it was a joke? I think you're reading a bit too much into it!

If everyone took each others jokes literally and seriously, we'd be in a whole world of misery!

RevengeOfTheDirtyLaundry · Today 19:42

I don't find it particularly funny but I wouldn't be offended by it. However, what I think is irrelevant. You found it inappropriate - if your sense of humour is incompatible with his, so be it - either you decide to live with this annoyance or you end the relationship. You don't need a 'valid' or externally validated reason to finish with someone you don't get on with.

OhBettyCalmDown · Today 19:47

I’d of found it funny myself but if you didn’t fair enough. I do think you need to break up though. You two have very different opinions. If you're in it for the long haul life’s going to throw some shit your way and if you can’t laugh through it with your partner you don’t stand a chance. Find someone more compatible.

What???

"Learn to take a joke" ?????

Why, because a man expected you to??? 🙄

Jesus Christ

Does no one have a sense of humour

Google is your friend. Either way learn to take a joke.

Yep. Women really have to learn to laugh at men’s jokes. Or “have a sense of humour”….

Brokentoes85 · Today 20:08

thatgreenjuniper · Today 12:48

You can joke about things that are actually funny or amusing. The movie quote was neither.

Nothing to be offended or bothered about, nothing wrong in saying that quote is gross, haha.

Something being funny is subjective.

Velvera · Today 20:13

Am I not supposed to laugh at men's jokes?

oh give over, it’s a quote and was apt for the situation, meant to be funny!

You honestly don’t have to be offended by everything men do!

No you are not! You’re an utter disgrace to the sisterhood of you do! Women should be a hive mind and all think alike.

No, not “because a man expected you to”…..because it IS a joke as it’s a line from a film 🙄

ByUniqueViper · Today 20:41

Even if youre not aware that its a line from a film, it's obvious that its a joke.
Jeez lighten up a vit of you might be looking for a new very serious boyfriend!

Would it be OK if we do a tinkly giggle and are either demure or simpering, batting our eye lashes. Extra marks if we ask him to explain it to us.

Wishimaywishimight · Today 12:37

Movie line or not, it's crude and unfunny. I would find it off-putting.

The way you’re so horrified when you know rightly it’s a movie line he used as a joke.just tells me you’re a no fore play, missionary only person if you even bother having sex at all anymore because your attitude comes across boring as hell, your poor partner if you’ve even got one 😏

What has gender got to do with it? Same sex people can also have different senses of humour.
