You/he/she is a narcissist.

You don't sound very nice/pleasant.

I'm self diagnosed with ADHD/Autism.

She/he must have ADHD/Autism.

You need to make your partner do X. (Because that is how adult relationships work).

Op: I need a new dress.
Mn: here is a shapeless sack the colour of sludge that costs almost £200.

I hate Boden.

I fancy Greg Davies.

...

What have I missed?

"Typical Mumsnet" for anything a poster disagrees with.

Ditto "Only on MN".

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/07/2026 09:53

"You need to parent your child."

Your 2 year old wakes up in the middle of the night?
I wouldn't have it. I just say, goodnight, shut the light and close the door. Stop coddling.

Mental load

A hobby which is “ outing”

LTB ( for every relationship issue!)

“ Explain X, like I’m 5”

Hanging out ( It’s probably a really common phrase IRL too, but it winds up my 55 year old brain! ) 🙈

Kindly/ Gently

” Can I have a handhold?”

6ate9 · 20/07/2026 10:10

You are a misogynist.
If you have a difference of opinion.

The hobby thing infuriates me to no end!

How is your hobby that incredibly niche that everyone would instantly know exactly who you are?!

I know, unless youre breeding dancing pygmy goats, how is the fact that you do a hobby going to out you?
I think some posters do this to boost post engagement, because you invariably get several posters asking about said hobby/stating that it can't possibly be outing

I think it shows that the poster lives in a bubble, there is thousands of people on this site nobody will guess who you.are .because your husband golfs/cycles/rock climbs.

Exactly! The mind boggles, particularly as this site attracts a significant number of members. Is said “ hobby” REALLY THAT outing?

ClairDeLaLune · 20/07/2026 10:18

”AIBU to be absolutely livid/fuming over …” some tiny indiscretion or mild offence.

What about, "Following."

It's not 1995, Jane. 🤦‍♀️

The “I just need my little family” brigade who think every friendship group is just a toxic nest of vipers.

Or by those who want their MIL to spontaneously vaporise until such time as she pops her clogs and leaves OP an inheritance.

I hate the phrase “mental load!!” It’s just tasks or the daily/domestic toil.

DH works long hours in a stressful job

He's a great dad (invariably said about the most lazy fucks imaginable)

Line eyes

I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you. I'll bet you bloody well have.

I only saw this for the first time this week! I'd literally never heard it before

OriginalSkang · 20/07/2026 10:35

"I'm going to go against the grain here.." - no one was waiting on bated breath to hear your opinion or really cares what way it goes!

Vile being used for anything mildly annoying

It also really annoys me when people explain a situation by kind of listing facts but still in paragraphs, leaving words out. I think they think they are being succinct, but it makes it harder to read

"Four kids. Went on holiday to Spain. Husband absent" etc.. just type it out properly!

Book yourself a hotel for the night.

Or a nice AirBnB

StrawberryMatchaLatte · 20/07/2026 10:37

"You sound lovely, OP". Used when the OP sounds like a total doormat.
