You/he/she is a narcissist.

You don't sound very nice/pleasant.

I'm self diagnosed with ADHD/Autism.

She/he must have ADHD/Autism.

You need to make your partner do X. (Because that is how adult relationships work).

Op: I need a new dress.
Mn: here is a shapeless sack the colour of sludge that costs almost £200.

I hate Boden.

I fancy Greg Davies.

...

What have I missed?

OP posts:
RabbitlessMagician · 20/07/2026 09:33

‘Please be gentle’ - fuck off. That one makes me want to be the opposite.

And “No judgement please”.

Sherpaio · 20/07/2026 09:33

The “I just need my little family” brigade who think every friendship group is just a toxic nest of vipers.

IFancyGregDavies · 20/07/2026 09:34

ToadRage · 20/07/2026 08:41

No one could possibly fancy Greg Davies, he looks like a fat Rik Mayall.

Which is exactly why he’s so hot!

HollyGolightly4 · 20/07/2026 09:35

"What happened to be kind?' - aka you posted on AIBU and disagreed with the answers being given.

"I'm confused" - this is the latest thing i've noticed and it's fast becoming a pet hate. People saying they're "confused" when they are irritated, or they disagreed with what the OP was saying and there are diverging opinions. It's SO annoying!

LBFseBrom · 20/07/2026 09:35

Not so much phrases but overuse of some words: they, them, their.

I get all the gender neutral stuff but not everyone is gender neutral, the majority are he or she and when a poster starts off talking about one person and then continues with them and them, etc, it's inappropriate and confusing, frequently sounds as though they are talking about several.

Mumsnet is the worst place I have come across for that, it's as if nearly everyone here has bought into the zeitgeist and has forgotten basic grammar and syntax.

TheSoapyFrog · 20/07/2026 09:02

"He's just not that into you".

"First post nails it", which is only marginally better than "THIS".

"First post nails it" always seems like the person is rolling their eyes at everyone who dared to post after that first, correct, reply.
So disdainful.

I'll add:

"Tell me X, without telling me X."

BringBackCatsEyes · 20/07/2026 09:36

“I don’t want to be outing.”

Seriously, in the vast majority of cases it absolutely will not be.

”Yes, we’ve got the same bug”
Again, very very unlikely, unless it’s someone in the same family or school posting.

Wishimaywishimight · 20/07/2026 09:36

"What age are you? It could be peri" (for anyone feeling any symptom/emotion between the ages of 35 and 60).

sammylady37 · 20/07/2026 09:37

The people who claim their emetophobia is diagnosed. I’m a doctor, almost quarter of a century qualified. Lots of my friends are doctors. We have collectively a few hundred years of being qualified doctors in various specialties. And not one of us has ever diagnosed emetophobia.

"You're an adult and you want to celebrate your birthday?"

Birthdays, along with Christmas, are for children only (so those of us without kids canforget about celebrating 🙄)

Why does all food need to be "nutritious" or "nutritionally dense" - can't we just eat sometimes for enjoyment, /taste?

😂😂

I cant believe we've got 4 pages in without mentioning the infamous MN 'spa day'

Cheating husband = spa day
Lazy husband = spa day
Bad time at work = spa day
Problems with family = spa day
Problems with friends = spa day
No money = spa day

VictoriaEra · 20/07/2026 09:45

“I have a friend, we’ll call her Petronella, who is married to man, we’ll call him Archibald”

Agree. Or ‘let’s call her Petronella’ as if it was a joint creativity exercise.

Wishimaywishimight · 20/07/2026 09:47

IFYSWIM (at the end of a very easily understood post).

Book yourself a hotel for the night.

Or a spa for the day…
