Vegans

I find them a bit meh. I'm happy for them to do their own thing if they leave me alone. I think this is overstepping. Do vegans not have pets? After all, keeping pets is just forcing animals to live and be controlled by humans.

A bird handler is holding a hawk on his gloved hand. A blurred crowd is stood behind him. The hawk has food clasped in its beak.

Lol. You’re doing a lot more harm than people handing out leaflets. You’re probably responsible for the death of 2-4 thousand animals each in your lifetimes and an extra 60-100 tonnes of co2e.

Im probably personally responsible for more than that tbh.

The fact you're LOLing at small kids being handed leaflets about rape says it all though.

I’m LOLing at how up in arms you are about one harm - while you proudly tell us all how many animals you’re responsible for killing. Seems quite irrational.

Right back at you.

Right back at you.

I wasn’t proudly telling everyone how much harm I do. I don’t personally hand out fliers or do anything like that. But I do think it’s irrational and strange that people like you are so shocked and against activists because of the ‘harm they do’ - if you are such a compassionate person why don’t you care about the harm that you do? It seems more likely that you don’t like activists because they challenge your norms and behaviours and make you feel uncomfortable.

Well you're wrong there, I dont feel uncomfortable at all, they piss me off by getting in my way at the supermarket, and by giving my kids highly inappropriate leaflets.

If you're so compassionate why don't you care about strange men targeting children with leaflets about rape?

What are you implying about activists handing out leaflets about the dairy industry? Presumably the leaflets were clearly about… cows? You seem to now be implying some level of paedophilia?

Where do you live? I’ve never seen fliers handed out at supermarkets.

Thays exactly what I'm implying, yes.

Grown men dressed up as animal mascots targetting children with leaflets about rape and murder. Im not sure why else they would be targeting children if not for some twisted sexual kick they get from it.

Its ok though, they have their cheerleaders defending them so they feel justified.

They sit in the supermarket aisles blocking everyones way.

They hand out the leaflets at markets and family fun days etc.

No I didn’t crack on. If you read my posts again I am eating a mostly plant based diet.

But still eating meat and dairy let’s be clear!

On the contrary I have a postgraduate qualification in supporting autistic adults and respect the food sensitivities of @clearlyy who doesn’t have a choice. Vegans on the other hand, do.

Feel free to claim anything you like. Your previous posts show you don't even know the meaning of the word respect. And btw, a postgraduate qualification really means very little these days.

Vegans do indeed have a choice and they choose to not consume animal products. It doesn't matter that it's unlikely to kill them. Eating food they are sensitive to is unlikely to kill autistic adults. So by your reasoning autistic adults should also eat food they choose not to too. Anything else would be rude. And wasteful. I mean, what about poor Grandma who can't be expected to keep up with people's eating habits and has done her best to provide food so that everyone feels included?
This is your reasoning.

Trying to make out that education about reality of food production is simply 'strange men chatting to kids about rape' is certainly one of the fucking weirdest defenses of animal exploitation I have heard. Maybe not THE weirdest, though. People get so defensive over choices they know are wrong that they come up with such bizarre shit. It's hilarious the lengths they go to

Kids should know this shit.

My parents were very keen on meat and hid the truth for far too long because I was born a bleeding heart animal lover and they knew it would be a pain in the arse for them if I knew my food was cut up bits of cute, dead animals. As soon as I was aware of the meat industry I stopped eating it but felt a lot of guilt for the tiny bit of extra demand my diet put on the meat industry for the few years I ate meat and then on the egg and dairy industry after that because I was not educated in what the production of milk and eggs meant for the mothers.

Took me til my teens to learn that cows don't just naturally produce milk and chickens don't kindly just 'lay a little egg for me' in cozy barn.

I wish someone had given me a leaflet earlier and let me make informed choices. No one can choose without facts. And parents should be shamed for not giving facts.

Is it up to random strange guys on the street to educate small kids about rape?

Im not sure its a weird take to suggest it probably isn't.

redboxer321 · Yesterday 22:12

Nothing like a vegan-bashing thread - started by a one-post-and-run poster - has shown that while there is much worth saving in this world, the human race ain't one of those things.

It’s not my reasoning at all though is it. The autistic person doesn’t have a choice, they can’t help it. In the same way as someone with an allergy doesn’t have a choice. So it’s not rude.

A vegan does have a choice. It’s a preference. Fussiness ultimately as I said upthread.

redboxer321 · Yesterday 22:20

As I said, you clearly have no idea what the word respect means. Nor the word rude@BakedPotatoBeansCheeseColeslaw
The autistic person does have a choice. It's not the same as an allergy. I support their choice to eat what they want but they do have a choice. It is not going to kill them - to use your words - whereas someone with an allergy could be killed by eating something they are allergic to.

A vegan also has a choice. But it is not their preference to not eat animal products. It is certainly not them being fussy. It is their belief that it is not right to do so, especially given the way meat and dairy is produced. And, as I have said, it can cause a person issues if they eat animal products when they are not used to eating them.

Well, if the parents don't do it, then yes.

You are clearly using the word 'rape' and framing it between 'strange men' and 'young kids' to try and connect the actions of these activists to pedophilia or crime. These activists are not raping the kids, they are explaining how animals are forcibly bred.

I can see exactly what you are doing and it is weird.

Hiding reality from children is wrong. Making them complicit in animal exploitation without their consent is wrong.

Teach your children truths in an age appropriate way and then activists won't rock their world because they will already know the truth and whether they are ok with it.

For what it is worth, I also have no belief that these activists gave leaflets to young kids. But that is just my opinion.

As an aside, children should be aware of consent from a very young age so they are aware if they are being hurt or groomed so the concept of rape should not be alien at all. You're using the word in this concept to try and connect vegans with rape. Well fucking weird of you.

If you dont explain to your 5yo child what rape and murder is you think its OK for a random guy on the street to do it? And you think what im doing is weird?

What age should we be explaining rape to our children before its acceptable for strangers to do it for us?

Its not me making the connection, its them doing it themselves by handing out leaflets with the word all over it to small kids.

Yeah, I think you are weird. And suffering very much from cognitive dissonance.
