Vegans

I find them a bit meh. I'm happy for them to do their own thing if they leave me alone. I think this is overstepping. Do vegans not have pets? After all, keeping pets is just forcing animals to live and be controlled by humans.

Do they? Completely out of context start lecturing you about veganism? No they don’t unless you know some very strange people.

Oh yes some will.

Omg I literally said it’s a joke. You’re not doing a very good job of dispelling the myth that vegans are uptight.

As yes, as @ShetlandishMum said, some do. I had a work colleague like it. Any opportunity wittering on about how she doesn’t eat meat or dairy and how they’re bringing their daughter up vegan

I am not a vegan, but I witness how people
react to vegans and often in quite aggressive ways.

A lot of people just react very emotionally to people being vegans and see it as a personal criticism against their own meat eating. Personally I am happy to listen and get educated. I had no idea about the horror of the dairy industry a few years ago and I am happy now to be more informed and I can make more informed choices. We should all be educated about the meat and dairy industry.

But that education falls flat presumably? Given you’re not a vegan

Of course it doesn’t. I am not a vegan, but eat a mostly plant based diet. I believe even small changes people make can make a difference.

Me too.

I do enjoy chicken though!

I just can’t get my head around how this issue seems to be so dominant in people’s lives on this thread. In RL, no one seems to give even one shiny shit either way

It’s like the old joke - how do you know if someone is a vegan? They’ll tell you

How very embarrassing for you, my love. You do know that you actually posted that and this is not some strange dream? I hope one day you will look back and cringe at what you've posted on this thread but somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

You should introduce the people in your life to some of the posters on here who are apparently surrounded by people who won't stop wittering on about how they don’t eat meat or dairy and how they feed their DC a vegan diet.

Same people wittering on about school gate cliques, narcissists and NC with 90% of the people they seem to know

I have a vegan friend who has two rescue dogs. Doesn’t give a flying fuck if I eat meat. Just does her thing and I do mine. She knows I know about cruelty to animals but unfortunately being autistic and averse to most alternatives, I try my best by having only cruelty free products. She understands people do their best. She is literally the only vegan I’ve ever met who is reasonable. The rest? No. Not one bit.

Gosh - you are super aggressive aren’t you?
No I didn’t crack on. If you read my posts again I am eating a mostly plant based diet.

There are a group of vegans around here who find it appropriate to hand out leaflets to everyone, including kids, saying that cheese is made from rape and murder, complete with graphic photos. They have also been known to sit in front of the milk and meat aisles in supermarkets harassing people and not letting them pass.

Im sure there are lots of lovely ones who truly (and quietly) care, but equally there are lots of activists who piss everyone off as well, and those are the ones we hear about.

Freedom of speech though?
Why does it bother you so much that there are people who care about the planet and animals that live on it.

Does it bother you when people campaign against carbon emissions and join protests against the far right?

Strange choice to defend small kids being given leaflets about rape and murder with graphic photos on it.

Whatever feeds your ego the most though i guess.

I imagine @BakedPotatoBeansCheeseColeslaw will be along in a minute to tell you that a bit of alternative won't kill you.
I mean, I'm sure she wouldn't want to be seen as biased.

On the contrary I have a postgraduate qualification in supporting autistic adults and respect the food sensitivities of @clearlyy who doesn’t have a choice. Vegans on the other hand, do.

It is. A quick google will tell you that governments are investing literally millions in it!

Well I'll keep eating meat, and you keep supporting strange men giving small kids leaflets about rape and murder then.

Im good with my choice, and I hope you're good with yours 🫤

Lol. You’re doing a lot more harm than people handing out leaflets. You’re probably responsible for the death of 2-4 thousand animals each in your lifetimes and an extra 60-100 tonnes of co2e.
