Haven't seen DH in clothes since Monday

My husband doesn't like the heat which means that for every day this week during the heatwave, we made an agreement that I'll been the one doing errands, nipping to the shops, and doing both morning and afternoon school runs. In return, he will ensure chores are done and cook dinner.

He works from home so therefore has had no need to leave the house.

Except, he's spent nearly a week walking around in just a pair of pants. No other clothing. He at least changes those pants daily (and sometimes twice a day), but I have not seen a t shirt on him all week nor a pair of shorts. I can't remember the last time he wore a pair of trousers.

I get that it's hot but i'm sick of the sight of his bare chest and legs. He is also bald so he looks like a giant newborn wearing a nappy.

He has somehow managed to do every work Teams call this week with the camera off.

We've also had quite a few deliveries this weekend, largely his, which I've had to run and open because he runs and hides from the window (while giggling) in case they clock he's only wearing pants.

I've asked him to put clothes on but it's fallen on deaf ears.

It's only 23 degrees today, AIBU to insist he puts some clothes on?

Does it matter … and if you are so grossed out by his body, why are you still married? Imagine if a man came on here about his wife walking around in her underwear, she looks like a massive blob and I’m sick on seeing her bare skin!

It was actually really nasty what OP put. The double standards on mumsnet strike again. We all know if a man had commented something like that about his wife (she looks like a big baby, she has rolls), women on here would be outraged.

💯

MrsJeanLuc · 29/06/2026 21:59

@Whereareyourclothes I feel your pain. My husband has a skin condition which (he says) benefits from sunlight / fresh air, so he wanders around naked at every opportunity 😲

I never mentioned rolls so pointless piece of protection there. The baby comparison is because of his lack of hair and his underwear resembling a nappy. I've said this to his face by the way so you don't need to be too worried about his feelings. Luckily he sees the funny side of it, as have I on some occasions if you read my update about putting the bin out.

And let's face it, there wouldn't be a reverse. Find me a woman with primary school aged kids that would stay indoors for 6 days wearing only a pair of pants while her male partner does all the shopping/school runs/clubs while still working full time and doing 2 days from the office!

Look, let's be real here. Love is more than skin-deep, but lust is not. Unless you have the perfect body, don't be permanently naked or almost-naked at home if you want your partner to lust after you. It doesn't look wild and free and confident, it looks slobby and depression-adjacent when it goes on and on. The bare truth is - pun intended - that almost all of us look best with some light, artful draping. Unless you're a gym nut or ballet dancer.

I live alone and I gleefully scamper about in my knickers. But I'm alone!

Edited

Exactly my thoughts, some things you don't need shoved in your face. I feel op's dh may be doing "his" version of a "diet coke break" ad in the back garden after his hard day at work while she picks up the kids! 😂

True enough. When you live with someone though, compromises have to be made.

Exactly. I have to admit that I wouldn’t want to be faced with my husband in nothing but his pants every day. I think it show a lack of disrespect but I’m sure I’ll be flamed for my point of view.

Never said anything about his weight. The reference to "giant" was for a comparison in stature, given newborns are about 45cm tall.

I'm very happy for those who love their husbands doing this and get turned on by it. It's rather refreshing that even after all the preening, waxing and shaving women are expected to do to make themselves desirable to men, women just need their man to strip down to their pants and remain in them 24/7 to be unresistable

I would consider a MooMoo for men!

Maddy70 · 29/06/2026 22:24

I feel you. My husband also works from home and works largest in his pants all day. Gross

Easterchicken · 29/06/2026 22:31

Why are you married to someone you clearly hate??

IV struggled with this weather I think I'm actually a walking talking oven and even in winter I have windows open and heating off, but my husband doesn't bat an eye he just pops a jumper on

Sobriety78 · 29/06/2026 22:31

My DS does this- its like having a big blonde gorilla wandering round the house. He would happily answer the door like that, I would rather he didnt. We have compromised on either pj shorts or lightweight shorts rather than boxers for if his sister has friends round. He runs hot so we let him be comfortable. Would DH not consider a similar compromise?

Brightpurplerain2 · 29/06/2026 22:32

I’ve been with my partner 5 years.. I don’t mind seeing him in just his pants still 😂 I mean he doesn’t do it because of our child however if we were home alone and he did it I wouldn’t bat an eye lid I love his body! And after all it’s his home too he shooos be able to feel
comfortable and it shouldn’t really bother you

SummerDive · 28/06/2026 19:27

Not when it means the work falls on the shoulders of your partner - all the school runs, errants and even opening to door for HIS deliveries.

If he has that much issues with the delivery man seeing in pants, he should get dressed!

I would absolutely prefer this than to be doing the household chores and cooking which he's having to do!

I also hate the heat. Even 23 degrees is too much for me.

Coffeislife · 29/06/2026 22:51

I wore bikinis all last week bar when I had to leave the house, my husband definitely wasn't complaining despite working every day 16 hours, in full overalls in the sun manually digging, he came in had a cold shower and joined me. Your description makes me think there is something deeper

I’m laughing so hard at the giant baby line. Anyone else picturing George Costanza?

Amazing 🤣🤣

Pretty sure I didn’t exaggerate this much … but you have been pretty nasty about someone you are supposed to love I’m afraid.

DryTerryandJUNE · 29/06/2026 23:04

I remember a Christmas party long ago where a bald man dressed up as the baby Jesus, wearing nothing but a big white toweling nappy.

localnotail · 29/06/2026 23:26

What's wrong with that???

Bigreddog25 · 29/06/2026 23:26

When people brag about being in a relationship for years, I'll remember this post and how they probably hate each other.

He wears nothing? So he parks his sweaty bum and bollocks on the sofa?? 🤢

Welcome to adulthood- likely had more than just a bare bum on their sofa.

No, she hasn't! Women do not usually get turned on by the sight of their male partner slobbing about in nappy-adjacent underwear. The male form is not a set of graceful curves that's pleasing to the eye like the female form is. Men are hairy and do not look good naked, mostly. Even if they do, there's still the great big unmanicured man-feet to deal with. 🤮

And the UNDER-ARM HAIR!

PP who are making out that OP should be finding her Y-front guy sexy after a week of wearing his nappies are just being virtue-signallers. Unless they're lucky enough to have a muscled, toned man with a sense of style.

ClairDeLaLune · 29/06/2026 23:45

It’s boiling in here Jackie! Is he auditioning to be the new Martin from Friday Night Dinner?

Harry12345 · 29/06/2026 23:46

God people can’t be light hearted anymore, you can love your husband, be attracted to him but find someone in underwear all week frustrating and slobbish. can’t wait til some of these couples are in their 60s and been together 40 years, it’s hard going, just because you don’t want to automatically sleep with your partner after looking at them in pants doesn’t mean you hate them, Jesus
