Haven't seen DH in clothes since Monday

My husband doesn't like the heat which means that for every day this week during the heatwave, we made an agreement that I'll been the one doing errands, nipping to the shops, and doing both morning and afternoon school runs. In return, he will ensure chores are done and cook dinner.

He works from home so therefore has had no need to leave the house.

Except, he's spent nearly a week walking around in just a pair of pants. No other clothing. He at least changes those pants daily (and sometimes twice a day), but I have not seen a t shirt on him all week nor a pair of shorts. I can't remember the last time he wore a pair of trousers.

I get that it's hot but i'm sick of the sight of his bare chest and legs. He is also bald so he looks like a giant newborn wearing a nappy.

He has somehow managed to do every work Teams call this week with the camera off.

We've also had quite a few deliveries this weekend, largely his, which I've had to run and open because he runs and hides from the window (while giggling) in case they clock he's only wearing pants.

I've asked him to put clothes on but it's fallen on deaf ears.

It's only 23 degrees today, AIBU to insist he puts some clothes on?

Is there any greater joy than doing what you want in your own home?

OtterlyMad · Yesterday 18:55

The line about him looking like a giant newborn did make me giggle!

His refusal to answer the door would have pissed me off - he should have been keeping a dressing gown or something nearby to quickly put on if needed.

The rest of the time I wouldn’t care too much as it’s fairly unusual circumstances.

But yes, now that’s it’s back to 23 degrees, the big baby needs to start wearing clothes again.

Burgundyleaf · Yesterday 18:57

I think you should count yourself lucky my DH puts the bins out in nothing but his pants! Even when it’s not that hot! He’s got a job which means he has to wear industrial thick PPE for most of the day so when he can be liberated he makes the most of it (I’m sure I’ll be savaged on here and DH is completely unreasonable)

JohnnieFedora · Yesterday 18:57

Ahhh leave him alone.

TheCurious0range · Yesterday 18:57

He could've just worn a light pair of shorts! 😂

mylifeisexams · Yesterday 18:58

😂 I thought you were going to say he’d been wandering around naked
sounds ok to me, but he should probably cut this habit now, until the next heatwave!

As long as you’re happy with the responsibility split and he has actually been pulling his weight - crack on.

over50andfab · Yesterday 18:59

YABU for agreeing that you do all the running around while he stays cool.
If he’s doing all the chores suggest he fry something on the hob - hot fat should ensure he puts something on, otherwise suggest you strip off too.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · Yesterday 19:00

That is pretty funny OP I have to say. Good on him. I would say he needs a dressing gown to answer the door though. And a shirt he can quickly pull on for Teams calls.

He'll probably just wear an apron over his pants.

From your description it doesn't sound like it's adding a lot of sizzle to your relationship

Ah sorry but this made me cackle. He sounds v funny. As someone who has barely worn clothes this week while having camera-off meetings and hiding from the sun because I hate it, I'm with him.

Berlinlover · Yesterday 19:02

I’m like your husband and can’t cope at all in the heat. I’ve been wearing a bra and shorts all week around the house.

True enough. When you live with someone though, compromises have to be made.

Arlanymor · Yesterday 19:04

Did he keep to his side of the deal and cook dinner in his pants too (something on the hob?!) I think the making a deal bit is irrelevant if you were both happy to make that pact and have both upheld your ends of it.

One of the greatest joys in life is wandering around your own home in your pants. That said, he can put on a tee for Teams and not turn off his camera and he can have a dressing grown by the door to take in the deliveries.

Otherwise I say that pants in this heat are completely fine - we all like to be comfortable after all.

My other half is like this the minute the weather heats up he can’t bare it. His daughter and my daughter are like oh here he goes but he is a long haul lorry driver so he basically sleeps in a green house all week and soon as he’s parked up T-shirts off 🙈 their lucky her wears his shorts cause when we don’t have kids there he wears nothing. I don’t even bat an eyelid it’s his house, and if he’s comfortable then that’s then main thing. I’ve been in shorts and a bikini top all week. X

GooseCreekandtheRiver · Yesterday 19:07

Having been the unwilling participant in some Teams camera accidents over the last 2 weeks, he should at least be wearing a t-shirt while working (and have a dressing gown handy to be able to open the door for his parcels).

hahabahbag · Yesterday 19:07

Not an issue really in the house but I wouldn’t have agreed to run all the errands!

TinyTempest · Yesterday 19:08

I feel like I read this exact same thread during the last heatwave the other month.

WhatAMarvelousTune · Yesterday 19:12

Well, I spent most of last week working from home in just a pair of knickers, and a tiny strappy vest top that I changed anytime I needed to do a video call. I’d have been a bit annoyed if DH had told me I had to put on more clothes. I was boiling!

Happyjoe · Yesterday 19:19

Buy him some shorts! Or cut off a pair of old trousers, sorted. Apart from the cheeky beggar getting you to do all the chores and running around, it's fine. Been a horrible week - and tail end of next week we are in for more high temps so get those shorts in :-)

He wears nothing? So he parks his sweaty bum and bollocks on the sofa?? 🤢

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 19:21

@ThroughTheRedDoor that ok as long as it doesn’t mean someone else had to witness it! Or answer every door.

katepilar · Yesterday 19:26

I thought you were going to say he was naked. No clothes = naked to me.

I grew up in a culture were its normal for males to walk around in their boxers /slightly different type then is usual today/. Also men would walk around in public in just shorts, no tops.

Not when it means the work falls on the shoulders of your partner - all the school runs, errants and even opening to door for HIS deliveries.

If he has that much issues with the delivery man seeing in pants, he should get dressed!
