To cancel date over his ‘joke’?

5th date tomorrow night with a man who has been great up to now. I’ve had to push the time back by an hour - said I’ll need extra time to freshen up after work. His reply to me was: “No worries, can’t be having a whiffy growler lol”.

Is that date cancelling worthy or am I being a bit too harsh?

The discussion in the thread is about whether women want to go out with men like that. The answer is a resounding no from the majority. If another demographic group said they found the way they were being discussed offensive, people would generally listen and take their concerns seriously. Yet women are not afforded that same level of consideration by men like you. Why is that? I can’t work out if you hate us or are so intimidated by us you feel the need to put us down. But it wasn't a joke at all. It was simply a remark, made by a man, to a woman. She was repulsed by the remark. The man pivots and pronounces 'I name that remark 'joke' and if you don't like it, then you have no sense of humour.' Really, it gets tiresome, it really does.

People are commenting what they think about it. I’m not sure why you’re so committed to thinking we’re only pretending to dislike it in an attempt to emulate the specifically British ‘upper classes’. By UK standards I’m new money, by the way, but I’m neither from the UK nor living in it, so I’m not too worried about where I fit within a system that has no relevance to me.

I do however have quite a bit of experience with people of the classes you’re feigning expertise on, as I went to school, work/ed and socialise/d with a mix of new money, upper middle, and upper/aristocratic individuals. I learned and became fluent in English whilst in the UK and within those social and cultural circles. ‘Whiffy growler’ was not a feature of the common vernacular, and I can assure you I was paying attention. Conduct such as that exhibited by the OP’s date is absolutely not normal, and he would be considered utterly rough and classless. In my own home country, which I dare say you have no experience of, that type of language would mark someone out as a džiber.

People can like filthy jokes, inappropriate jokes, dark humour etc, many different types of humour and still not find jokes about womens bodies funny and may get the ick if men make their jokes. Nothing wrong with that.

I disagree that it's mostly women are are misogynistic but even if that were true that does not mean we have to accept it from men also.

I know that plenty of black comedians make jokes about black people, but if white people made some of the same jokes then depending on what they were they may be considered racist jokes.
